Does Gnar build full tank, or semi-carry?
Played my first Gnar game yesterday, seems like a fun little guy. When he was released I remember people playing him bot lane as a marksman but I dunno how that works.

Build a
on him cause the %health damage goes well with his mini gnar w the rest should be full tank.
He is generally played top with 1 damage item and the rest tank, and used as an initiator with his strong CC in mega form and his slows to help clean up in mini. You can also build him for more damage if your team is lacking it overall, but he tends to get a decent amount just from his W and his mega's burst.
I believe that a tanky build typically works better because his has good innate damage and CC.
Good mid-tier damage items are:

Personally, I like to have
as my main "damage" item because the slow helps me chase and peel better, get more hyper procs off, and lets me stick to people in either form.
I use 2 or 3 atk items and the rest tank.
1 Damage, Rest Tank
Like basically every other tank in the game
When gnar was first released he was built damage oriented and so lower elo still builds him that way, but the better way to build him is now tank.
1 damage, rest tank...
or
or maybe both if want...
rest is tank... (balanced between Health, Armor, MR, and Regen...) so maybe:

last item (except want both item above) maybe:
or
