Lost 215 MMR from one loss?

Resolution··1 votes·628 views

I'm in Gold 3 currently; was 1761 MMR/Average in League was 1578 (+183).

I've been keeping track of my MMR the last few days as I currently have an 80% win rate in ranked over my last 30 games/trying to skip divisions. I then lost one game and then won the next (Still 80% win rate over my last 20 games).

Yet, after my two games tonight it seems my MMR dropped to 1569. Why did I loose roughly 215 MMR from one game? Even though I'm placed higher then when I started from my second win.

How do you track your MMR? If you use websites like op.gg or lolking.net (or any other website), they give you approximate MMRs that they calculate using the players in your games and their own methods. Riot does not provide an official MMR service, and any site that says they do is lying.

The approximate MMR sites are useful, and I use them too, but they are just that. Approximate. They fluctuate all the time, they change often and are only to be used as a general guideline.

Word. Or maybe you (op) use the even less legit "whatismymmr" site? Notice that the site tells virtually no information about where their mmr calculation comes from or how it is validated -- pretty much they are just pulling numbers out of their butt. Maybe the site you used changed their algorithm and this is why your "mmr" number had a dramatic change as reported by them.

I would really be curious to know how Rito calculates mmr; am very suspicious that they use something similar to their game performance ratings (i.e. S, A, B, C, etc), which is a flawed metric at best.

As far as I know, you have an MMR that only depends on your win or loss. The way it's determined how much you win or lose is dependent on how your team's average MMR compares to the enemy team's average MMR. If you have a lower MMR, it gives you more. If it's higher, you win less (and vice versa).

It has nothing to do with individual performance.

That would make sense, and I HOPE it is true. :)

I was just referencing OP.GG as I see everyone normally point that direction; for everything stat related - Didn't realize they just used made up numbers.

Even see a lot of the LCS players use it to keep tabs on there MMR - my bad.

They aren't "made up" numbers. They use an algorithm that takes into account how well every single person in all of your games is doing, and using that, they establish an MMR for you. As I stated in my other comment, it's an approximation, but it's not made up. You can use it to judge your MMR, but you should use it to judge long periods of time. Over many games, your MMR will show signs of changing, but over 1 or 2 games it might fluctuate due to their system.
