Unique Resource Marksman?

They mentioned the idea of energy for an ADC in their monthly Q&A, but said it was less feasible due to the marksman potentially becoming too oppressive.

Why not give them something similar to a Rage meter instead? Literally a resource that charges with auto attacks. There's a lot you could do with it.

  1. The amount of charge you gain from minions could be consistent and small to match the general harass potential of other ADCs.

  2. The amount you gain hitting a champion could be based on your distance from them. This would be pretty unique to a marksman. Stay far away and you get more access to your kit.

  3. Base your escape ability's cooldown or effectiveness on your current Rage when it is cast. This would mean if a melee champion gets to you before you build up your resource the cooldown or effectiveness of your escape suffers, allowing them to capitalise on catching you out. However, if you get the resource you need it becomes harder for them to lock you down, making your early fight pretty important.

  4. By default the abilities can be designed to be more effective mid-fight due to their likely lack of presence at the start of a fight. This means they could specifically have abilities for following up and it would work pretty thematically.

I'm not sure about that, simply because Rage mechanics mean that you never really are at Top Form at the start of the fight.

On an ADC, if your mobility spell is tied to your rage, Your going to have plenty of opportunities to escape as a fight progresses or if your farming. But if you have to displace for any reason, (Even if your roaming with allies) You are that much more vulnerable to an enemy ambush. Buy and large, is it particularly useful to make the ADC be required to ramp up before coming online? Cause I would imagine the enemy team will be able to over run your front line before that happens.

There's also the point of how Rage is used. Tryndamere's rage, while it does power his Q, but mainly is their to give him additional crit chance. Renekton on the other hand is predominantly Caster focus with his rage mechanic. Shyvana's rage is only really their to limit her ult. Gnar? You could practically build him as an Rage ADC.

On top of that, we do have mini instances of this in other ADC's kits, were said ADC needs to ramp up. Namely Grave's True Grit, and Jinx's Mini gun. So even if Rage isn't an appropriate resource, you can still use rage mechanics.

I've heard of heat being an idea for a character. It would work similarly to how you have outlined here.

Also rather than rage (fairly used a lot already) maybe stress or excitement or adrenaline would be good. Could work thematically too for a new personality, or for a Jinx rework if Riot ever decided to change her ( I hope they don't though, she's awesome as is).
