Is anyone surprised why Morg's pool was nerfed?

It was too versatile in all of her roles. Mid pusher, support early level 2/gold income from Spellthief's, made her 1v2 with some ease in competitive top... Can't say I'm surprised it's getting nerfed a bit. I wonder if they'll increase her damage elsewhere though, to keep her solo laning abilities strong? Hell, does she even need that?

Her damage is too unreliable and even when everything lands, her burst is pretty average for a mid laner. I don't see why damage nerfs are the way to nerf support Morgana when it hurts her mid lane much more.

The damage at level 5 is still the same, I believe. You have to choose know, Wave clear or nuke snares.

Maybe they'll buff her passive just the slightest bit. Except for her Q, her main damage tool's spellvamp is reduced by 1/3 because it's aoe.

Her burst is horrible unless you use pool to get ALL the farm and stack major AP. She's not a super-star champ, she's just too consistently pretty good.

Not true, because in the mid lane, she's pretty much a second support with some damage attached. You need to pick a damage dealing top or jungler if you want Morgana mid to work well. In the tank meta, this just won't work. She's consistently good in the support role, NOT the mid lane AP carry role.

Well, riot doesn't much care about what the non support lanes need, Veigar and Blitz were nerfed around their support roles with no regard to their other lanes.

I'm more surprised they didn't make other changes. Root duration change, DoTs no longer proc Spellthief multiple times, slight ult slow nerf, straight rework.

Not really. She has been repeatedly nerfed and this small damage nerf won't reduce her effectiveness in what she already does. All it does is reduce the damage she can dish out freely. It removes some of her waveclear ability as well as harass/poke to help reduce her usefulness in lane and when being sieged upon.

Nerfing her pool is just plain stupid. It is quite easy to get out of if you didn't get snared. They should actually increase the damage and nerf the duration of the snare if they want more balance. She has very long CDs on both, so she doesn't have burst at all.

And? She has to be able to shove lane to be competitive. And she is only strong in the early game, so if she is not able to bully a lane there is no reason to pick her.
