@Meddler: How did stealth game its name? (And other questions!)
When League was being developed, how / why did various forms of invisibility get named 'stealth'? Where did Riot get the term?
What made League's early creators and designers want to include forms of invisibility?
What do Rioters think about the role of stealth gameplay in League?
##Some context to the questions:#
Most stealth games task the player with remaining invisible and undetected to avoid and overcome enemies, and give them tools and abilities suited for this purpose. Create distractions, hide behind cover, greater mobility options, magical / technological cloaking, etc.
There seems to be a difference between stealth mechanics and stealth gameplay. (The former being things that enable the latter.) But Rioters seem to use the term 'stealth' in a way that's not either of these? For example, Vayne is said to have 'stealth' as a mechanic, but rarely do Vayne players engage in stealth gameplay (most often when they ambush someone from brush or FoW, two stealth mechanics that I've never heard a Rioter (or player) describe as such, two stealth mechanics that aren't intrinsic to Vayne.)
Could we have some clarification on what Riot thinks about stealth, as well as the history lesson?
I find the subject very interesting!
