it would be nice if ekko was a hybrid champion

i mean whens the last time we had one of those? it would be nice to see champions with more diverse building paths rather then one main core build with slight alterations, the best example of i think of who matches something like this would be jax.

its true the most build incorporates mostly ad stuff like trinity and bortk, you can't denied that ap jax's or hybrid jaxes are a thing, in fact one time i saw a challenger jax build zyhonas first then proceeded to carry.

Phife2 votes

thats because zhonyas active is broken as fuck... jax just benefits from the ap and armor even moreso though.

See, that's the thing. ONE time. One time, I built kayle 100% AD and I wrecked the hell out of the enemy team. The problem is, I definetly got lucky. People will always go towards the most optimal build and will stick to it, no matter how diverse a champion can be.

Imo It's not players fault to pick AD Jax over AP. Imo it's fault of countless nerfs to his AP side.

Second thing, AP Jax is really scary vs squishy targets. Far more fearsome than AD, because he has heavy combo nuke

Pretty much this.

Hybrid champions are pointless because their best build will always focus on one or the other. So why make half the kit contain power they will not use most of the time? Just invest that power into making them one skill type.

We really need a legit hybrid champion.

Need better hybrid itemization/(pen)

we really don't

It's just not feasible to build Last Whisper and Void Staff in the same inventory.

It's fun to do that, but it's not effective or efficient.

AD Ekko please, thanks.

Ezreal AFAIK has always been able to build hybrid. Shaco maybe... Kayle...

Hard4Hamsters1 votes

Kayle best hybrid champ imo. Builds AS, (some AD in Hextech Gunblade), and AP to make a build that no other champion would dare build to become a unique fighter benefiting from stats that AD's and AP's would.

Tristana, Ezreal, Jax, Shaco, Akali, Evelynn, and others have potential hybrid builds, but they usually opt for one way or the other.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ekko would have a potential hybrid build, but it would probably be beneficial to opt for one or the other as with most hybrid potential champions.

TwistedFate Howdy.

i did say when was the last time... i know hybrid champions exist but all the hybrid champions are old, outdated, unused. how many times do you see people using TwistedFate or Kayle or Poppy especially as a hybrid and not strictly ap or ad. thats what i was getting at

Visigoth1 votes

The problem is there can pretty much never be a truly Hybrid champion because one stat will always be better than the other, like in Poppy and Kayle's cases, or both will end up being extremely mediocre like in Evelynn's case.

Riot does not support hybrid damage. If they get a lead, itemising against them is much, much harder.

Also, why do you want a hybrid champion? You can give a non-hybrid champion the game-play of a hybrid champion. It would play exactly the same.

Who says hybrid itemization has to mean hybrid damage? If a champion only dealt physical damage with their abilities and that damage all scaled with AP, they could be incentivized to build AD and AP at the same time without being impossible to itemize against. It would just be going back to the original model of the game where AP meant "Ability" power instead of magic power - more AP would provide more burst or utility at the expense of sustained damage.

You are closer with Evelynn. She can actually go legitimately for both AP and AD items in the same game (and was the only champ where I saw it done competetively) or focus on one for two different patterns (burst or dps-bruiserish)

DemiluniS1 votes

it's still make her itemization messy, it's much better to either go full bruiser or full ap mage

DemiluniS1 votes

it's kinda pointless to make a hybrid champion just for the sake of it. it's just complicate itemization for absolutely no reason, especially wit the terrible hybrid items we got

It would be funny if Ekko was a support, hahaha.

Mage Fortune MissFortune is the closest thing we have to a hybrid champion if you want to play one, and she still builds almost entirely AP. (item 3070 item 3259 item 3136 item 3035item 3157 item 3285 item 3003 item 3151 being my personal build) She's not good, just fun, and if she ever became good she'd have to be nerfed to hell. As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, because hybrid damage is impossible to build against, (that build above does the closest of any champion to 50/50 damage spread; try it, check the postgame) it's not healthy for the game unless they were to add more hybrid defense items, and then who would build anything else even in non-hybrid situations?

TF was a really good hybrid but not now. I've recently seen quite a few AD Ahri's which have gone surprisingly well, haha. And recently an AD Ziggs that rolled the entire game. But Kayle, Akali, maybe Kat now with her AD scaling on W could be viable hybrids, but I agree, we need a good, solid Hybrid champ. However, it seems he may be like Diana and I looooooooooooooove Diana, soooo I'm okay with that too :)

A true hybrid champion would need a passive that gave strong returns on AP for building AD, or vice versa. Otherwise it's just inefficient, unfortunately.

Little offtopic here:

I really wanna see AD support. And by that i mean support that HEALS allies with ability that uses AD ratio!

Yeah i know broken as f**k.. But i just wanna see it

aaronconlin1 votes

-AP Scaling on all damaging abilities -Melee -Relies on auto attacks for Passive and W -W active is a blink and applies on-hit effects He seems like he would work as a hybrid champion item 3115 item 3078 item 3100 item 3091 item 3153 item 3146 item 3124 would all be decent on him, but he will likely use one or two of them and then stack AP or AD
