So they don't have the resources to make the Cass rework not trash.

The silent and not so silent majority was awful silent when this rework launched with the Shurima event. In fact, the only people talking about Cassiopeia prior to this patch were those who detested the changes to her kit. I find it irritating that only after the pros start finding a way to make her OP that we get all these "majority" supporters cropping up and telling us who have been disliking it from the start to be quiet. Just because some pro has made her win (and the sheeple have thus started playing her) doesn't mean she is in a good spot. It just means she has numbers that the meta game can exploit. This new Cassiopeia is still as boring to play as ever, with a tedious stacking mechanic that goes marginally faster, and the lack of any kind of real threat on 75% of kit. When a character who claims to be a primary mage has only 1 spell that is actually threatening, something is horribly horribly wrong. It's OK on characters like Zilean and Sona, who primarily support and need their skills to offer crowd control and buffs, but on primary mages, this is uncalled for and is the bulk of the reasoning why this rework is detested, aside from the gating with the ludicrous passive. Cassiopeia is a mess right now, both in kit, curve, and thematically, despite the fact that the pros are making her numbers work.
Uhm, have in mind that most of LoL players don't use forums (boards) nor even know about them.
I myself got quite surprised when all threads in old forum got closed. Took me 1 day to understand what happend more or less.. Other thing: Everyone has his or her at least 1 beloved main champion. Cass never was as popular as for example Lee. So LoL minority raging on forum was in fact majority of Cass mains. But as a small group they couldn't do anything.
Aaaaaaand on top of that we (i wasn't present when this started) had to deal with Stashu, who's most likely most alienated red worker ever.
now you know how I felt when karma was changed completely.
Now you Know. Yeah I played karma top. I also played swain jax and irelia top and alistar top and katarina top. yep. Completely a different champion...ruined for me.
i've played Evelynn/Garen top. So yeah i understand feelings of all reworked mains :/
Just because some pro has made her win
I think I missed something; last time (only time, actually) I saw Cassiopeia in a pro game was PowerofEvil from UoL during the promotional tournament, and then it was still pre-rework Cassiopeia. Do you know what game this is?
The general community beyond the 20 hyper intense fans on here seems to enjoy the rework. I can't imagine it would make the majority happy to just revert a change because the minority wanted to.

Ah yes, the classic silent majority that just so happens to support your personal decision and you know this because
PS Literally nobody wanted this rework. If you claim a silent majority for this piece of shit from that idiot stashu, why does that not work just the same for her pre-rework state?
This rework was garbage that had no reason to happen, and it's being handled by literally the worst designer I have ever had the displeasure of seeing.

Riot didn't like Cass play patterns so they changed it. I personally don't care if she gets reverted or not.
How do you know what everyone wants?
The majority in anything usually doesn't care much and usually opts to say nothing and will accept any change that occurs. The vocal minority appears whenever there is a change they dislike. Karma rework, Trundle VU, Sion rework etc., those people came and went and all 3 of those changes appear to be rather well received amongst the community
What we do know is that there are very few players who use these boards, even fewer that talk about the rework at all. Her play rate went up somewhat. I've seen her quite a bit in my games as of late. People must be enjoying her new state, I've even seen quite a few comments on here saying the exact same thing before people like you down vote them to hell

Implying Riot actually knows what they're doing (they don't, and frequently demonstrate such). This rework is absolutely worthless. It has no value at all and should never have been done.

Just because you don't agree doesn't mean it's bad.

No, it being bad means it's bad.
keep living in you own bubble.
The reworks not done to please the community, they are done in order to make the game healthier and bring the champion to a state they can tune it without breaking the champion completely
Actually there are many Riot posts and videos of LCS players commenting on Cassiopeia. They didn't change Cass because her playstyle was unhealthy. They have expressed at least twice that they aim to fit niches in the game that do not exist, and since Cass was in the middle of Ziggs and Ryze, they wanted to emphasize that further.
Many mid lane professional players have said that the rework was unnecessary. The reason why it is getting more popular is because they buffed her numbers to very high amounts so that even if she plays like a train wreck, she still does immense damage.
This just further proves that you can turn ANY kit into an overpowered kit.
link me some of those videos, I wanna see them. it doesn't even matter, lcs players looking at the champion only if it's strong enough for lcs, they don't care about story, kit and so on....if the champ is strong enough they are going to play it. it might be just a walking square that stuns everyone around.
and true, they want champion to be more different from each other, but they also want to fix unhealthy patterns in their playstyle to make the champion tunable.

The idea that old Cassiopeia had "unhealthy" patterns is a complete fabrication, hth. Also Riot has no actual intent to fix actually unhealthy patterns, considering all of the massive, glaring ones they're ignoring and the fact that this rework makes Cassiopeia way less healthy for the game than she was before.
The idea that old Cassiopeia had "unhealthy" patterns is a complete fabrication
Bingo
That's what really boggles my mind about the lot that actually say "hurr da rework waz gud." If anything, older cass had a playstyle that should have been a model one for a low mobility caster in this game.
Only reason cass in this new state could ever see play is if she becomes OP, not because she'd actually be fun. A pro player would play a champ they absolutely hate to play if it helps them win,

in what exact way?! poke from 850 range to force your enemy out of lane with no interaction? such a great model for an entire class.

she is fun, for players who are not biased with her "poison mage" identity.
850 range that needs first set in from a delayed, relatively small aoe nuke is pretty craptastic harass compared to most other mages.
By your logic
have "no interaction"
Many professional players have said in videos, presently online, that her rework was unnecessary. They have accepted it because of her high levels of damage, but the top Cass players, outside of King Cobra, have disliked her E-centric focus. Also:
Karma rework was not well received by the community for many months. It BECAME well received after 3 patches of buffs brought her to prominence. 3 Patches more than pre-rework Karma ever received. (Proof that raising numbers on abilities really does make champions popular)
Trundle was a sad loss, and many professional junglers said as much, but not gamebreaking.
Sion rework hasn't had much talk on the grander scene. But his play rate has been dwindling down to pre-rework levels now that his hype has died down.
People like new things with high numbers. You can make any champion more received by the community for doing such.
Poor Kayle enthusiasts who saw her reworked twice, complained, and still have her in a mediocre state.

The pro community is still only a small portion of the community, and we only actually know that forum goers disliked the karma and trundle changes not that the entire community disliked it.
Well when Lol Forums, Reddit, Facebook, and Twitter all have people complaining, there isn't much evidence that the community thinks otherwise. There's really a vocal minority of people supporting the changes.

I would still argue that isn't a large section of the actual community and playerbase. Thats only the people who use social media, and even then the majority of social media is sheepish. Just look at the whole Gamergate thing. It started as one thing, somebody made it some other thing and then the majority of people going around talking about Gamergate didn't even fully understand what it originally was, they just wanted to get in on the hate things bandwagon.

You can complain all you want, its not our game and we have no ability to change it ourselves. The most we can really do is to work with what they want to do and point out when they do abnormally stupid things like when they tried to change Pantheon's ult range to 2000. Our job is to call them out on their shit occasionally, but even then they don't have to and probably won't listen to us.
Honestly the only thing that will happen with Cass from this point forward is the AP and CDR benchmarks will be tweaked or revised and possibly slight ratio increases on Q and W. I doubt anything else will happen.
No matter what changes they do or how much they upset some people with changes, they will never see a significant decline in players or see a dramatic decline in general. At most they might lose 50-400 people for maybe a month.

With that attitude you can't change shit. That's when you stand up, close your wallet and say "no, riot, I'm not giving you any money until you get your act together" (and we all know this will never happen, so your money will be super safe and you can use it on stuff that's actually worthwhile).

Im one person. If every single person on this forum combined stopped giving Riot money it still wouldn't even come close to denting their income. They have made over a billion in transactions according to sources and Riot themselves.
If you stop buying things out of spite nobody at Riot will give a shit. They might appear to give a shit for PR reasons, but in all reality they won't care because it won't affect them in the slightest. Its just as pointless as protesting McDonalds. You are an ant to them. We are all just ants to them.
You can call it an attitude all you want, I call it realism.
I really hope they actually do not care, because its literally impossible to please every single player's interpretation of "get your act together"

Well at the very least don't just be another number. I sure hope you aren't just shouting "I AM ONLY AN ANT" while shoving your wallet through your screen and into riot games HQ, at the very least stop buying stuff yourself and hope others follow. It's all you can do, and every little bit counts. Be the example, tell others about the shitty practices, one person can multiply their force by influencing others.

Im not going to stop supporting a game company because they made one or two bad choices and I never claimed I was going to.
Even if they nerfed my favorites into the ground and reworked them into obscurity I would still play the game and buy skins. Whats the point of getting mad over balance changes when I can just enjoy the game?
No corporation, especially not a game company, makes every single decision unilaterally. I buy the skins because I like the art and the visuals. I play the game because I like the gameplay. If they nerf my favorites and ruin them, its whatever. I might make a post here or two just to vent but I dont expect them to listen to me or other people whining about it.
They dont rework things to make people happy, they rework things to make the game better designed. Whether you agree with their philosophical point of view is an entirely different matter.
The general community beyond the 20 hyper intense fans on here seems to enjoy the rework. I can't imagine it would make the majority happy to just revert a change because the minority wanted to.
most everyone i've talked with, fans and non-fans, think of her as a joke right now. it cannot be understated how stupid it sounds to be a mage with a passive that artificially forces her into a hypercarry curve that takes off at an arbitrary time point way later than most hypercarries, and then have no mobility, no defense, not much cc especially without ult, and range that's only considered pretty good so she still can't really deal damage without getting swarmed by bruisers or even bursted solo by an assassin if they dodge her skillshot

Once her numbers are increased people will shift their opinions from "joke" to "op"
You must be new to Riot's balancing cycle if you think anecdotal evidence matters in the slightest

you were the one first bringing up anecdotal evidence with how you knew the general audience felt about cassiopeia.
and how a kit works and doesn't work on paper is still important to how they will behave. obviously you could still make cassiopeia win a lot of games if her E did 5 billion damage when you hit 500 stacks, but her effectiveness relative to how her numbers work will mean that increasing her numbers will make her viable in solo queue first where people won't properly capitalize on her weaknesses but her players will know how to capitalize on her strengths, and then the numbers will have to be much higher if she is to become viable in competitive, which is one of the stated goals of her rework, and then she will be totally broken in solo queue with a ridiculous winrate.
Furthermore, if she is left in an adequate solo queue state and her competitive viability is ignored (i'm pretty sure the standard acceptable state for a champion is reasonably balanced in one and either balanced or underpowered in the other, but not too OP in either no matter how much the other has to suffer to bring them reasonably in line) then her patterns will not really be fun for cass players unless they're winning (all i can do is mash my buttons until i die or the enemy dies, there isn't really a way to outplay the enemy besides getting my dps to be really big) and will feel really awful for her opponents when they're losing (the game timer has hit whatever minute total it is for her to hit her stack threshold, now if i end up in range of her i either fight her and lose because she has too much dps from an average cs count and a passive that is literally mostly just a timer or i try to run and she chases me and still kills me because of her ridiculous movespeed)
these are patterns you see in other champions as the buff/nerf cycles go around. warwick has a crap kit and is the perfect example: no way to get in range to deal damage without his ult, no burst damage, his ult locks him down, melee with no cc outside of his ult and no burst damage at all so he has to build damage and tankiness and somehow stick to targets. he has two things that save him: his ult is point and click (oh boy the counterplay) and he has massive utility for himself and his team by getting vision and a huge ms boost to low health targets (he also has the group as boost which can be nice for objectives or even just dps boosts but that's way lesser) but overall his kit still just doesn't work because he has no real way to do anything without his ult, which is busted by 1 hard cc, which will be available to the enemy team by the time he gets his ult.
BUT, you say, warwick can be strong, it just comes down to buffs and nerfs! because his numbers can be so high that he clears the jungle fast with little health lost, and his base tankiness, sustain, and damage is so strong that he can just walk up to enemies and force them to back off or get killed by him. Now what happens to the game? warwick very easily becomes pick or ban tier in solo queue but is still rarely if ever seen in competitive and generally has pretty bad performance if he is seen, playing against a warwick is very boring and unfun because he's just a ticking timebomb until he gets enough items to walk into your team and ult your carry with nothing you can really do about it, if his team gets ahead at all his blood scent and bonus to team objective control will mean there's no way for you to really fight back. and worst of all, lanewick may become viable again, meaning the entire top lane becomes 100% passive because you have a champion that can't harass but can sustain through any harass the enemy tries to pelt him with.
a champion's kit NEEDS to have interesting play and counterplay on paper. it's not just a matter of "well it sounds really bad but we can fix that by giving them crazy numbers" because the kit is rotten in its core and trying to fix it in other ways will still cause that rotten part to bloat and fester.

I wasnt talking about champion strength. I was talking about perception.
Cass rework is awful. Doesnt matter what I think because Riot isnt going to change it, might as well adapt to it. The majority of people will get over it eventually and just give up like they always do once riot buffs it enough times.
No amount of bickering or forum posts is going to change Riot's mind.
I'm honestly not sure if you're joking right now. Because everyone I'VE talked to, in game, loves her now. She's become a niche pick of an AP hypercarry. Well, theres Azir, but he's a bit too wonky for most people to use. But I digress. Contrary to your belief, people LIKE the change. Its something different than the regular mid mage line up. I think it stems from the fact the old Cass was a pretty unknown character. With all the attention she's getting now, people who didn't play the old Cass take a look at her and say "Eh, she's kind of tricky, but good if you can pull it off."
Tl;dr People who play Cass after the rework enjoy her, while old Cass players...well, want the old Cass back.

how do you bring up ap hypercarries without talking about ryze, who has the exact same strengths and weaknesses as cass EXCEPT HE ALSO HAS A BUILD PATH THAT MAKES HIM TANKY.
Because as I said
Contrary to your belief, people LIKE the change. Its something different than the regular mid mage line up.
Ryze is very very rarely seen mid lane, and like wise Cass is never seen top lane.
people LIKE the change. Its something different than the regular mid mage line up.
People then, would love a real fixed Cassiopeia.
I think it stems from the fact the old Cass was a pretty unknown character. With all the attention she's getting now, people who didn't play the old Cass take a look at her and say "Eh, she's kind of tricky, but good if you can pull it off."
They did not played her as she used to be. They didn't realized who/what was she.
People who play Cass after the rework enjoy her, while old Cass players...well, want the old Cass back.
Cause we know how she used to feel and the control she used to have if played properly (she wasn't op). The Champion we have now? its just a shadow of the former entity.
Contrary to your belief, people LIKE the change
I'm sorry, but I think you spelt "sheeple" wrong.
If this change was any good,** those people would have liked it BEFORE this patch buffed her.** But no, they only start claiming they like her now purely because she have bigger numbers.
This proves one thing and one thing only. Sheeps go to what they see pros make look OP. Try ignoring all the sheeps who thinks "viable/OP = fun"
Know what takes no resources at all?
Reverting it.
last i saw new cassiopeia has a stupid winrate over in korea, so they're not gonna change it.
Thank you so much for missing the entire point...
So this entire thread's discussion can pretty much be summed up as...
"OMG SHE'S VIABLE NOW, THEREFORE THAT MEANS THE REWORK IS GOOD SHE IS THEMATICALLY CONSISTENT AND SHE IS FUN, BECAUSE VIABILITY IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS IN BEING FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
sucks understanding how it felt to have karma reworked doesn't it? Q bot/poke bot = viable Very fun much wow.
I'll have you know Stashu is a perfectly capable designer who knows exactly what he's doing. Infact, by my estimates it'll only take until patch 5.49 or so until he goes 'yknow what fk it i can't do this' and reverts it all before wandering off into the sunset muttering the phrase "My work here is done"

Hes not in charge of reverting anything. Someone gave him the okay to rework Cass and many others at Riot agreed with him.
I find it more funny how no one even talked about Cass before the rework and now suddenly all these people who played her are suddenly popping up out of no where.

It's that whole silent majority thing people like to bring up a lot in these threads, it works both ways you see. We were just happily playing Cassiopeia without a care and then suddenly a meteor hit her, and from the smoking crater emerged a disfigured snake, whose power has been taken away by arbitrary stack mechanics and other such bullshit.
That's when we get pissed, and scrawl our message on any boards we can find in hopes that riot will actually take input on this bull that got hoist upon us for no reason.
Because generally those that used to play her and liked her didn't need to spam the forums about their love for her.
You could also argue the flip side that prior to the rework no one said that her playstyle was bad and that she needed a rework. Now all these people are popping out of nowhere.
It goes both ways.

Because there wasn't really anything to talk about - she was fine.
Then Riot randomly decided to destroy her. Suddenly there's plenty of reason to talk about her.
If you don't like the cassi changes, then its because you are not playing her well enough. The new cassi is SO STRONG. She is a late game AOE dot mage with crazy kiting, crazy burst, and the potential for a 5man stun, just like she used to be. Only NOW she can demolish lane if you play her right as well... instead of coming on the forums and QQing about it, try improving your play.

No, it's not anything about playing wrong, it's pure design.
What in the 7 green hells is a snake doing getting more powerful through poisoning enemies? The passive is terrible and unfun and gates your power in the most unsatisfying way.
Her E is just her entire kit, her other skills solely exist to make it work at this point, poison does trash damage at all points unless you land E because everyone was asking for poison buffs and stashu in his infinite wisdom decided to put even more shit on the E.
Believe it or not, not everyone plays like a robot, only programmed to play the one viable thing that week and win at all costs. It's a video game, things should be fun, and Cass in her current state has lost all the fun her original design had. I would not care if her passive blew up the enemy nexus at 500 stacks, it's such a boring mechanic and it should not have been forced on a champ where it doesn't even make sense.
