Why are we making Yi's power even more situational?

(Summary of Yi changes here)

(ignoring the base health regen adjust for every champion in the patch) Alpha Strike (Q) cost lowered from 70/80/90/100/110 to 70/75/80/85/90

Meditate (W) Cooldown lowered from 35 to 25 Healing per second lowered from 30/50/70/90/110 to [20 - 80] [Removed] No longer amplifies healing based on missing health [New Effect] If full channel succeeds, next 3 attacks restore [30 - 50 (+20% bonus AD)] health and reduce the remaining cooldown of his other abilities by 1 second

(Analysis of the changes)

They're reducing manacost on Q (which does almost nothing, his problems are not tied with mana) The meditate CD is reduced, that's cool. The meditate is NERFED on value, pretty harshly ! Not only the base values are nerfed, but the % increase, which is extremely noticeable, is literally removed. Meditate as a sustain tool is now garbage. It is only viable if somehow your opponents are stupid enough to let you meditate all the way through, for a garbage reward of a bit of healing and 3s off abilities, which is only useful on Q, really, and barely does anything.

(Analysis of Yi's problems)

The nerfs to his R a while ago are still affecting his viability dramatically. His R has a stupid high cooldown and it's fucking on his availability on ganking, or literally doing anything on the map. The base duration of only 7s, compared to 10 previously, is making him useless if he gets cced a bit and doesn't kill anyone, because the ult runs out and Yi's like the worst champion in the game without his ult. The duration amplification of 7s to compensate doesn't help, it's just overkill at this point and too situational. The ult + E duration amplification on W is cool, but very situational and playable around. It makes Yi even more gimmicky and easy to play around.

The base stats changed were so bad for him and destroyed both his earlygame and lategame. Changing what you usually got in runes before (AS reds + quints ; armor/lvl, mr/lvl) to AD and flat armor, almost the worst runes you could take before, hurt him a lot. His jungle clearing, early game all inning, and lategame survivability are tremendously hurt.

The runes reforged didn't help him at all. The availability of high burst damage makes him extremely susceptible to just getting oneshot and not doing anything. Lethal tempo is a bit slow to proc, and doesn't cut the deal. press the attack is garbage, fleet footwork doesn't help him at all. In other trees, no other keystone really helps him that much either.

(Conclusion)

So the "buff" Riot suggests is a situational change on W that almost does nothing and requires your opponent to be stupid and not interrupt the channel? Yeah sure.

Can we please give the changes to someone that knows what he's doing and is not launching dice to have random changes? No seriously, it's embarassing at this point. Thank you.

Do you know what this looks like, making him more viable in a lane (after 4 seasons I think it's about time). They are also making his W less of an in the middle of fight thing.

It is literally called meditate, I am not sure if your aware but meditation is generally about being relaxed and calm. They made it more thematic. I also notice how you cried about the overall heal being lower but COMPLETELY ignored the fact that he gets potentially ~210 healing over 3 attacks (2 really including his passive).

Yi's meditate at the moment doesn't fit with his theme and it doesn't actually fit with his kit. He is meant to be someone who meditates to get health then goes balls deep.

Not goes balls deep, meditates while waiting for cooldown while tanking damage then going back in.

Notice how this is still technically possible but the strength of meditate has shifted to before/between fights not right in the middle of them.

It's not making him more viable in lane. I don't know if you have ever played Yi in lane, and meditate is an important part of his laning power. In any case, I have played lane Yi for a few seasons and I can safely say while he was an uncommon yet okay pick in the last seasons, he's garbage right now. Your lack of early game attack speed completely nullifies your all in potential, while previously little did people know but Yi's level 1/2 was insane, I have firstblooded so many plat/diam Dariuses/Rivens lvl 2 because they didn't know about the cheese. In current meta it's even more fucked up cause since you have no scaling armor/mr runes (yes you could actually still cheese lvl 1-2 with scaling armor and scaling mr runes), you risk not ever getting to a point when you become stronger than your opponent. You just don't get naturally tanky enough. And you don't even scale that well in today's meta. Get CCed and die, in teamfights Yi has fallen off to be an extremely weak lategame pick. That cheese and general power loss put apart, since after lvl 1-2 you fall off until you get items (because other laners get 3 full trading abilities while you're still mostly about autoattacks), you usually get 2 or 3 points in meditate to survive. But you use meditate defensively in general, to heal off, because at this point you get shit on in all inning and have to wait for your item 3153 , or even item 3153 item 3124 powerspike.

This means trading back after a full meditate is actually not that great. You use meditate in a bush or under tower, because it's really powerful to heal up. It can heal more than half your health in early game if you have 2-3 points in it. But let's talk about numbers, if you want.

The increased by missing health is 0-100% based on missing health.

Let's take the case of what you usually get to get a somewhat safe lane, aka 2 points in meditate.

You usually use meditate once half health; or a bit less. Let's be a bit nice for you and say you take it half health.

The healing therefore is 50x1.5x4 = 300 health With the new meditate it is 35x4 = 140 health (the 35 is obtained because the healing is 20-80 based on rank so i suppose it would be 20-35-50-65-80) But then you heal (35 + 0.2 AD) on each of the 3 subsequent autos you do. (this 35 here is obtained because the healing is 30-50 based on rank so i suppose here it would be 30-35-40-45-50) That's 105 + 0.6 AD if you land all 3 of those autos. You get the same healing with 55/0.6 AD, aka 92 AD. That's feasible and quite average in the laning phase scenario, but mostly, that means you have to take a very bad trading pattern, your opponent has to let you use a full meditate and still stay there for you to auto him, to get.. basically the same results. With yeah, 3s off a Q and your next meditate. You see, that's not gonna do much. We're far from even the tryndamere buffs where he gets a bunch of AD growth and a higher E AD ratio.

And where in earth does it help with his biggest problems, aka the big ult nerfs a while ago every single Yi main talks about, and the fact his scaling armor sucks hard and is worse than a bunch of adc's and mage midlaners?
