I don't understand why Poppy is being nerfed and Hecarim is left as is

Ok, we have 2 very disruptive champions here. But disruption is literally the ONLY thing Poppy has. And her cc abilities are on very long cooldowns. Hecarim gets damage, mobility, healing, and aoe cc. Leave Poppy alone and nerf the cancer pony.

We've been talking about whether Hecarim and Vi are both too strong. Conclusion was that we should nerf jungle XP and CotC and then reassess them both. Poppy by contrast we're confident needs nerfs besides just the hit from CotC getting weaker and won't be affected by jungle XP changes negatively hence we prioritized working on her.

Why would she not be affected by jg XP changes?

Because her most effective position right now at least is in lane and those are the cases we feel are definitely too strong. Jungle XP nerfs are arguably a slight buff to her as a non jungler as a result.

Forget about the folks who enjoy jungling with her :/ have to find other champs who aren't near as enjoyable to play in jungle now :/

It is very hard to balance every champion for every role. As a result it is always the most effective role champions are balanced after. If they did balance for off roles I want major buffs to my ap vayne which has been too weak since release.

I dont get why you're crying about. Do you ult jungle camps? Are you somehow proccing CoC in the jungle camps? No? Then there's no diff between nerfs to her in jg and nerfs to other jg champs

Her nerf entails her passive's shield reducing from 5 to 3 seconds. That will likely mean that I have to waste time and gold on refillable pots rather than the jungle enchantment.

While I can agree that tank poppy is problematic, any chance of reducing her base damages and buffing her scaling so she can sometimes be played in a damaging role?

She should have never been made into a tank in the first place.

Eh, regardless of that though, I generally like her current kit.

What do you think the chances are these direct nerfs, and then the upcoming CotC nerfs + the Jungle EXP nerf will just blow her completely blow her out of the Jungle entirely?

It kind of seems like Sejuani all over again. Bring Out CoTC. Nerf CotC. Nerf the champions strong with CoTc. Nerf CotC again. Leave the champions who were strong with it weak for 2 seasons before addressing them.

Poppy was in a sweet spot between Average and Strong that we called balanced before CotC came out. What are the odds she'll just be nerfed out of non-existence all over again? Will you keep an eye on her so that these indirect nerfs + Direct nerfs are too much that she's unplayable in the Jungle? Or will leave that and focus only on her top lane?

i heard you're nerfing the shield duration but isnt her mana cost on q a bit too low for something that does double damage and slows?

her e im cool with because if i get stuck on a wall its my positioning thats at fault but her q needs some tuning.

i realize i main riven and shes countered by poppy but it feels like poppy can be played into just about every single champ and do great.

i hate how she can control the lane level 6 just iwht her passive and e.

i hate having to play so safe and never risk trading with her even if she fucks up everything because she has so much damage and tankiness.

While i know this wont likely get any response due you being busy/ not allowed to answer question but here i go.

Will you be looking into increasing jayces mana costs or lowering his melee form damage? because it is so frusterating to dodge a empowered shockwave just to have his melee form delete or lower your hp then he just punts you away.

Also I am slightly worried that the jungle changes will stop eve from being able to clear fast enough to do her job given how level dependent she is, if the change is so crushing on her that i must do red or blue then steal cs from my laners or will she get buffs to clear speed. The only reason this concerns me is i know you do not like to give eve buffs in general for fear of pushing her into god hood.

as a top main ive never been triggered this much.

what a fuckingjoke.

poppy is number 1 most broken champ in the game rght now .

I mean... his e can no longer crit structures. That is technically a nerf. xD

ForFoxSakes2 votes

LoL I never knew this even happened. just figured that the huge damage was from the triforce proc on hit and isnt really noticable until E gets ranked quite a bit

Dryditch2 votes

Because 18%MaxHP damage on a 4 second CD (with 2 second delay) isn't "damage."

Edit: I recognize that I have mis-numbered Poppy's Q damage. It is two separate instances of 7% maxhp damage.

My bad. Haven't played her in a minute and was listening to SRO rant earlier. It's still decent damage.

Ralanr1 votes

Yeah, Sion's W has the same.

Dryditch1 votes

I kind of love Sion's new W. So glad they put his health gain on the one damn ability that actually uses health scalings.

Regardless, it's still relatively spammable damage from either Sion or Poppy. Only difference is that Poppy will almost always get you with at least 7% of your max health when she engages or trades, while you can just walk away from Sion if you're lucky in lane or pop his shield.

Ralanr1 votes

True, but getting armor helps reduce it.

Dryditch2 votes

Yep. All I was saying is that the OP paints Poppy like someone who does no damage, and that's just not a fair assessment of the situation. Sure, Hecarim does more, but he'll die faster, so it all evens out in the end.
