Something needs to be done about the absurd amount of botting in Coop.
Let's preface this just a bit. I'm a D2 player who is currently smurfing. After getting my queue times in blinds up to a whopping 12 minutes (to put that in perspective, I was playing against nothing but high Plats, low Diamonds, and their respective smurfs at level 24), Coop vs. AI became the most efficient choice for actually leveling up.
And let me tell you the amount of bots I've found here is disgusting. Coop is absolutely infested with them. Your odds of encountering at least one per game is probably a little higher than 50%, but you can also get multiple. In fact, I had 3 last game. Guess which ones they were.
Things to note in their behavior include: -Going to lane without spending all (sometimes none) of their gold. The most common starting build is boots with no potions. -After that, their standard builds are garbage. Not like new player builds where they build anything that looks slightly good, I mean they'll often buy nothing or take an extraordinarily long time to buy components (like sitting on 2.5k gold before buying a BF Sword, then another 1.2k or so before buying a Pickaxe). -Staying in fountain for extended periods of time. -Run mid and either feed incessantly as their programming just causes them to run forward and attack the most important thing in range (Nexus>Tower>Champion>Minions), or sit back at around tower and only move up so often, getting killed because the wave changes position and they're suddenly getting eaten alive by their wave or the tower. -Only, periodically, typing a simple one word phrase. Phrases I've identified include "WTF", "Frozen", "Push", and "Gj". -Often disconnecting and reconnecting. -Completely ignoring any comments or chat from other players. -Ghost and Heal are the most likely summoner spells but I'm pretty sure I've seen an Exhaust or a TP in there with Heal.
Why is this an issue?
- It makes games extremely hard for newer players to carry and effectively ruins the new player experience. Unless of course, you're one of those cynicists who believe part of the new player experience involves lots of disappointment with your team being garbage.
- You know what happens to the accounts after hitting 30? They're sold to toxic players who just got banned (did someone say Tyler1?) and to boosters who use the accounts for duo queue boosting
Overall, this is a pretty big problem that really needs to be addressed.
