Thank You Riot, Nunu Appreciates It

Nunu Blood Boil (W) [previous changes to cooldown, movement speed, and mana cost reverted.] Absolute Zero (R) movement speed slow now increases to 99% over duration of channel.

These are the recent PBE changes. After much feedback from here (and likely other places), Riot has reverted the W changes and instead given Nunu this amazing buff! It's not huge since the ultimate was already 50% at the start of the channel, but it's enough to at least make Nunu's ultimate a little more menacing to think about it, where was before it was just "Hold on, gotta walk out of this." While the W duration might still be lower based on what I'm reading here, I would honestly take a buff to Absolute Zero and a nerf to Blood Boil any day.

In 80% of the match ups, I find it pretty easy to run down enemies when i'm Nunu. (supporting)

As someone who still plays nunu despite the apparent "jg carry meta", I will definitely say that his ulti tweaks make him better but aren't really a "necessity". Would not be surprised to see more AP-heavy builds with him now though, as with that AP ratio on it still being ludicrously high the slow now gives him more of an ability to "nuke" things with it.
