Can we fix LP gains/losses for games with more than 1 disconnect?

Had a game where one of our players disconnected when they were level 2, before any first blood was obtained.

A second player on the team ragequit because of the disconnect.

We let the enemy team push to end because there is no way to win a 3v5.

When the game ended, my team received full LP loss for this. The game was only 11 minutes long.

Why hasn't Riot implemented some compensation here? I know these are fringe cases, and Riot is afraid of players abusing compensation, but when you have systems like the Reporting system that has close to/less than 1% false positives, it's a wonder why a Ranked compensation system hasn't been invented for these situations.

I think the afk person should recieve double the lp loss while everyone else loses only half. That way there will be no person who afks just for the sake of the team because of the fear of losing even more lp. The only question is how will they figure out if someone is actually afk? If it's based on if someone actually leaves the game, then what happens to people who have to restart their client?

I think that LP system makes sense to prevent abuse.

Currently they have it at if you're gone for 20? (maybe 15) minutes or over half of the game it's considered and afk, or of course if you never reconnect. Their system so far has been pretty close to accurate so I agree it would make so much sense to add this feature.

How do we differentiate someone who is afk because they didn't get a role they wanted from someone who disconnected because they got a firewall bug from loading in?

I already lose promos sometimes when Riot's client freezes for no reason during champ select. I don't want to lose double my LP if I happen to encounter an internet problem that's out of my control.

Yea thats why I asked how they would determine if someone was actually AFK or just restarting.

You can detect if someone is AFK by checking to see if they press "Exit Game" and Confirm it.

And then not announce this detection feature to prevent rage-quitters avoiding the use of "Exit Game".

no, if i crash, I will have a stuck screen, then I press exit game so I can restart it, but sometimes i can't get back in

Once people figure it out, they just pull their ethernet, or shut off their router.

There are plenty of ways to work around that.

I think the afk should lose the lp for the rest of the team.

Very smart solution. Cuz this is a 3v5 game. Very smart man. Would you run for presidency? I'm sure you'll put this country back in order.

It is possible to win a 3v5... You literally let them win? That's sad dude. Everyone gets dc's... It's part of solo queue. I would not want someone like you on my team that gives up so easily- before 10 minutes to be exact. If your gonna let them win at least surrender at 20 instead of letting them push

To be fair, the odds of winning a 3v5 are astronomically low at reasonable ranks. I'd like to think plat 1 is one of said ranks where that applies. They know how to ward, how to rotate, how to take advantages. Can't really blame him.

if I was allowed to look at code I'd do it for free..................

This is an issue that really needs to be fixed, I think this should be among top priorities just because there are so many afks in ranked games.

i have lots of games where i would rather someone afk than feed like they do.. like if u died 7 times and still think u can 1v1 somebody on the other team.. cant they like get a server for themselves.. lol..

I think something should be done, it's unfair to have a few of these in a row resulting in massive LP loss or even demotion. I get very frustrated because of this. I think a vote in for an advanced BOT to kick a feeding player would be nice, or even to replace an afk member!

In the long run, it shouldn't really matter though. If everyone experiences leavers, then the LP losses and gains even out so everyone loses the same amount of LP due to leavers, and everyone gains the same amount of LP due to leavers.

Unless that is of course, you have more leavers than average, which is a telling sign about you as a player :^). What's the one constant thing? :^)

what you're talking about is only important for stats. The ISSUE at hand is that people shouldn't be losing the regular amount of LP for disconnects. It is an issue regardless of what the statistics say. I'm not saying stats are irrelevant, but they don't define what may or may not be an issue.

Oh so you want a quick fix feel good solution that would cause more harm in the long run. Got it.

Godhri1 votes

I don't understand how you got that out of what I said.

I don't understand how you can't see the point lol

I'm not going to continue this. Your tone is condescending.

It's understandable to want to back out when you're losing an argument no hard feelings
