how to deal with Ezreal in lane

so i played a game a few days ago where i got completely shut down in lane as Caitlyn , I was the ADC. Our bot lane was Caitlyn Velkoz verseEzreal Alistar . This Alistar was absolute trash as he stated it was his first or second time playing him and the EZ was a diamond 2 smurf (he was very friendly and it was a normal game they were duo(bronze 3 Alistar ) ).

The lane started off very unevntful for the first 10 min, no one ganked no one could kill anyone and my first buy was item 1001 item 1038 item 1042 . Ezreals first buy was item 3057 item 1001 item 2055 item 2031 . The lane was going fine until our next back where i bought item 3086 item 3006 . Then Ez bought item 3025 and i couldnt do anything but lose trades from that point forward.

If I am facing a Ezreal is it better to go first item item 3035 to just try and negate the armor then go into other game items you typically start with as item 3085 item 3031 or finish out item 3036 item 3033 then transition to other items? What happens if he goes item 3057 into item 3078 ?

According to op.gg you are silver 5. Losing to a diamond 2 smurf is more due to the player than the champion he chose to use.

Ezreal is weak compared to cait early game. Especially since Ezreal will often go the item 3070 route. As cait you outrage the Ezreal. Stay behind your minion line so he can't poke you with his Q, contest him on every CS he tries to get (get an auto in when he goes to last hit).

  1. You have 2 ways to play it. Let your lane push to you forcing him up in the lane, and auto him on every cs. He'll likely be forced to farm from a distance with his Q.

  2. Pressure the lane by constantly pushing hard and getting some E Q combos off when he is under tower. Force out his arcane shift, it's actually pretty mana intensive early on.

Just keep in mind Ezreal can go from defensive to offensive very quickly with his arcane shift, so be aware of where the enemy jungler is.

i expected to lose soon but it was a fairly even matchup till our second buy, i was out farming him since no one really died in lane till about 18 min since no jungler came bottom. after my demo review i lost more to itemization than getting out played, since i couldn't trade with him anymore. since my build was BF to Runnans to IE to vamp septer to LW but by then it was way too late and i couldnt do anything for damage against him

Headshot is what makes Cait so strong, it's best to rush IE to make all headshots deal insane damage. I'd rather have a bazooka than a rapid fire pea shooter. Ruunans should be second. Hitting 3 targets with ruunans will give headshot every 3rd attack, or every 2nd attack in a bush. Attack speed alone isn't good enough, crit % increases her damage, but you really need the massive AD/Crit %/Crit Damage from IE to reach her headshot potential.

That makes sense. Ezreal gets a pretty good powerspike around the 18-20 min mark, as that is when he should be finishing his item 3042 . So he will have his item 3042 item 3025 item 3158 by then and start to become pretty formidable. You kind of have to capitalize on an Ezreal game early on if possible.

That said, by this point laning phase is probably over and you'll be getting into teamfights & rotations soon. At this point, being an ADC is all about positioning, and if he was a diamond 2 smurf he probably had the positioning advantage on you. I imagine that's an area you'll probably have to continue working on if you're silver.

i know how to lane but soon as the game transition to anything past lane phase im a blundering idiot and i know that, it is what i am working on because my in game decision making positioning is terrible along with where my ward placements are the demo reviews i do with my diamond friend are pointing them out just working on correcting them.

only reason im climbing ladder now is because im out lanning my opponents in silver

Attack speed is trash against armour. Best to rush IE first, maybe even before finishing boots. Maybe a more passive support or aggressive support with CC would help. Regardless of matchup, minion kills should always be top priority with focus on being able make a difference in team fights mid game and not on trying to kill the other marksman. Just having higher CS is a won lane(without deaths), no need for kills.

With the circumstance you mentioned I believe the support picks decided that outcome.

you dont rush last whisper. its stats are really not efficient until a target has armor (and if he got trinity you are fckd on that) Really vs an Ezreal it depends on his support. Since you all had a huge advantage vs the alistar support, you should have been extremely focused on poking him out. when ali gets low health then try to start zoning the ezreal off of farm. Try not to shove as well, as ezreal has 0 issues farming under tower. He already is one of the safest farmers in game so you need a LONG lane to really be any threat to him. Yes Alistar has sustain, but if he is low hp from poke its hard for him to get into his passive or relic shield range without getting chunked for more than he heals.

TL;DR Snowball off his support if you can, and zone him with your extra threat. Don't just farm early, actually be aggressive if you are a champ who can do so.

I can help you out. Im a 900k caitlyn Main.

With ezreal, You dont win lane nor lose it. Ezreal is the only adc who can make the lane Completely neutral.

When he gets sheen, this is where you have to play a lot more passive and behind minions. You should be sidestepping a majority of them.

As soon as iceborn gauntlet is purchased

Do not fight him ever You lose the trade. Ezreal is known for being an item abuser and this has been known for quite some seasons now... As a champ himself he suffers from major balance issues ( Not that hes omg stupid op ) but because his itemization and the way his Q procs is just idiotic. An adc shouldnt be able to buy 65 armor and do damage.

But yeah, point is dont fight him anymore. Farm up and you basically lose any fight against him until you get your lord dom.

NEVER RUSH ARMOR PEN AS CAITLYN. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS FINISH YOUR IE AND ZEAL FIRST BEFORE GETTING ANY FORM OR ARMOR PEN.

Let me know if you have any questions

so you would build BF > boots > zeal > IE > runnans > whatever else you need? armor pen at that point?

if you need phantom dancer go phantom instead o f runnans if you need to duel.

But finish your IE then buy last whisperer
