How to properly "Entice" Morde into botlane while keeping solo intact.

YOU BEEN WARNED·8/30/2015, 11:37:14 AM·90 votes·3,075 views

Harvester of Sorrow [w]: Cooldown 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 -> 24/22/20/18/16.

NEW: When cast on allied champions, Harvesters of Sorrow's cooldown is reduced by 50%.

WHAT IS OLD IS NOW NEW: Can be cast on Mordekaiser and allied minions.

This way it encourages Morde to cast W on allies, but does not remove a spell from him in a solo lane.

i figured the "enticement" would be the double damage, not having an abysmal cooldown otherwise :s

Allowing to cast Creeping Death when self casting or casting on a minion and Haversters of Sorrow when casted on an allied champion would be a better option than what you suggested. Or being able to self cast it for half the effectiveness for that matter.

But like I've said many times already. Allowing him to self cast it wont guarantee his solo laning restored. His base stats nerfs and lower abilities' base damages outside Glorious Q has molded him away from solo lane.

That's exactly what should be done. Don't punish players for playing Morde on other lanes than bot, rather reward him for playing bot lane. This change would be great, not only it would fix at least one of Morde's solo lane problems, but at the same time, it wouldn't make his duo lane more powerful. Something that should be implemented before rework left PBE or in hotfix but it wasn't. Eventually, I would take out the option of reactivating ability for heal or just make the heal weaker when using alone (and of course it shouldn't heal minions, that would be just super strong tool for farm denying). I hope Riot will already listen to us and implement such a change.

I think you missed the point. The rework was MEANT to get Morde out of a solo lane because when he is strong enough to be viable, he is incredibly unbalanced.

Pre-rework Morde, and honestly, post-rework, too, suffers from the issue of completely lacking mobility as a melee bruiser. Balance-wise, he is either strong enough to overcome this limitation, or he is easily kited. If he is strong enough to make the lack of mobility irrelevant, then he is overpowered, because it also means he can simply ignore positioning and still stay healthy with high damage.

Slotting him into a bot lane carry position was meant to allow him to be that strong with farm, but need the help of the support to get that farm. I don't believe that goal was actually achieved. Morde still suffers from the same problem. He is way too strong if he just has the minimum damage and survivability required for him to be viable. He is being banned a lot at higher MMR, and his win rate in Plat and above is almost 60%. That win rate also drops off dramatically as the game goes long, so perhaps there is some rebalancing to be done that can make his scaling better and early game less oppressive.

In the end, however, the issue is not that he was forced out of a solo lane. When Morde was viable as a solo laner, he was every bit as toxic a champion as people think Riven is now. CertainlyT attempted to do something interesting with him, but I just don't feel like it worked. It was a good attempt, but it is time to just obliterate Morde completely and rework him from the ground up.

Sounds like a good change honestly. Then again, any change that makes his W castable without allied champions present is better than the current iteration.

ZephyrDrake8/30/2015, 11:38:44 AM3 votes

he might as well not even have the skill with those CDs in a solo lane

7ball8/30/2015, 3:35:38 PM3 votes

this would not be enough to make him viable in solo. they nerfed his E and movespeed way too much, theyd need to also revert some of these nerfs (dont forget that in solo lane he never hits 3 Qs, so he has no actual source of dmg in solo)

This guy is a troll btw I played with him Back when I was in B5

Since this is 2015, let's add anther passive to that W.

When the W is cast on a minion, you can control the minion.

Here is another idea.

Pool Party Mordekaiser Pool Party Sona

...nuff said.

...maybe Pool Party Ahri as well?

Dude I remember you duo trundle midlaner, this guy calls himself "the bronze gatekeeper."

Verxint8/31/2015, 9:31:13 PM1 votes

If its cast on Morde alone (not on a minion), it shouldn't give as much movespeed. The entire reason the 75 flat ms buff is balanced is because of the gameplay around having to be approaching your partner.

BobbyCarHaterX8/30/2015, 11:51:34 AM1 votes

And yet, you need also to delete the heal from w if cast on non-champion or he would be a sustain monster on solo lane, since he can heal himself for 400 every 20secs.

I honestly don't know why people are so attached to solo lane Morde regardless. In a 1v1 scenario, Morde will always be unstoppable or trash due to the nature of his kit. I know that's how he played for years but Morde as a bot lane carry provides far more potential of being balanceable even if he isn't at this particular moment.
