PSA: If you are getting leashed, don't waste your smite on first camp

summoner 11 gives you a decent heal.

If you are getting a leash, you most likely wont get too low from taking the first camp, save the smite for the next camp will help you stay healthier in the jungle.

Isn't that obvious now? With the pre-season 7 smite heal, that should be obvious.

it is, I just see people smiting the 100 hp red buff for no apparent reason, and it hurts my eyes.

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

Oh, they do that to confirm the camp, like confirming the drag or Baron. I thought we were talking about first leash camp.

yah we leash this jungler to the point where the red buff has like 200 hp left and the jungler just smites it after we left...like why not just auto it 3 times.

Waste of a smite. I do not know the healing smite does now but I think that the damage the jungler had taken would be less than the heal of smite. Meaning, if smite healed 300 HP, and the jungler had taked 150 HP of damage, than the jungler healed 150 HP over. That is a waste. Common sense isn't as common as you think, I guess. I figured that out when Riot announced they got rid of smite buffs and replaced with a heal 2 months ago.

use smite if your low hp on 1st camp for some reason or you are trying to keep it from being stolen

The Deckowner1 votes

yah you should smite when it is contested or you are low.

just dont smite it when you are full hp no enemy near by. I still see so many people do this and I don't understand why.

also these downvotes kinda confuse me, did the random smiters got offended somehow?

if you smite it at the highest point smite will execute it instead of taking all the way down with out smite you save time and therefore clear faster

Smite does a flat amount of true damage, it doesn't execute camps from full hp, you played too much Ivern.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

nope never played the champ

it executes from a valve of true damage based on level

say 490... once the camp is at that hp lvl you smite and it executes the monster

is what im stating

The Deckowner1 votes

that is logically flawed.

killing a camp with smite and nuke it with smite when it is full hp mathmatically makes no difference in terms of your dps onto the camp, smiting a low hp first camp and smiting the full hp second camp gives you overall the same amount of increase in clear speed.

smite is a nuke, not an execute.

you are missing the fuking point. but ok argue over the TERM instead of the point

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

What are you saying? Smite deals flat true damage that scales upon level. 390 ( I think) at lv 1 and 1000 at lv 18. Junglers use it as an execute move now 1) confirm that it can't be stolen from some random enemy player. 2) For the maximum heal effect. But we are not talking about Garen's or Jinx's ult that scale in damage with the less health you have. It is flat true damage that scales upon the champion lv. It does not execute upon first use on any camp.

One more thing I'd like to add: Smiting at the start of the next camp is better than smiting at the end of the first for one more reason. It heals a flat 10% max hp + flat amount. This means smiting either one will bring you to the same hp in the end. Saving it will bring you to similar hp with a large chunk of damage on the next camp too. Oh, but if you have a Twitch adc, BE CAREFUL. He's becoming more popular this patch, so this is good to remember.

Now that first camp is a buff, it's generally a good idea to smite secure it if you don't have surrounding vision. A steal would just be a huge disadvantage as you've lose health, your leash, the buff you need, and the full camp XP.
