The New Runes and Dangerous Game
I know we're all pretty active in discussing new runes right now and I'd thought I'd put my two cents in. About this rune in particular, Triumph, which is effectively a replacement for Dangerous Game.
> Triumph - Takedowns restore 15% of your missing Health and grant an additional 25 gold
Dangerous Game I thought was always a really good idea on the Masteries and definitely has a place in the new Runes system. However, do you notice anything different about it's effect? No mana on takedown! Why?
> Dangerous Game - Champion kills and assists restore 5% of missing health and 5% of missing mana.
Dangerous Game was one of the best non-keystone masteries of the old system, and that was for a few reasons. For one, it incentivized going a little deeper for that kill knowing that the 5% health would probably save your ass (can't count the number of times I've seen Dangerous Game save someone) OR the 5% mana would allow you to stay in lane and shove/gain some objective even after you secured the kill. One problem with it though, was sometimes it might have saved someone that didn't deserve to live (they made too big of a mistake perhaps) but because their team secured a kill, they live. It could be frustrating at times.
Triumph's vastly increased percentage (15%!) is going to increase scenarios like that, the skilled dives and the frustrating denies. But it sort of baffles me that the mana was removed in favor of more gold. Why? You are already receiving gold for the kill/assist, more seems like overkill. It also doesn't support any kind of playstyle. There's pretty much no reason for any non AD champ to dip into Precision, even as their secondary. This could have been a really appealing options to mages, and now mages literally have no reason to even bother. The health is nice, but not worth them going into Precision. Meanwhile, it also doesn't support adc playstyles like Varus or Lucian or somebody; maybe they want to rely more on their abilities, and the mana on takedown helps support that style.
Anyways, just an odd change I noticed, wanted to hear others' thoughts.
