Group Mentality Concerning Frostblade

This was something I started noticing this morning, but discussions about the new version(s) of Frostblade Irelia are...not discussions at all. Recently, I've seen a few threads post a fan-painted edit of the skin, showing what they believe are improvements to the skin. Of course there are always those who disagree and comment below, but the degree to which those comments have been shouted down is staggering. Without giving my own opinion on the skin itself, I haven't seen Boards be this much of an echo chamber in some time. Sure, pack mentality comes into play in any given thread, its bound to happen, but for every thread that thinks one thing, there's usually a thread that thinks the opposite and is highly upvoted.

Even dissenting arguments aren't typically downvoted into oblivion on a thread unless they are cruel in some way or flat out incorrect. With these past few threads I've witnessed simple disagreements or sensible counter arguments become "click to show". What is happening?

Some of these posts aren't aggressive in any way either. I literally saw someone simply say "I like riot's version more" and was downvoted into "click to show" status. Since when are we downvoting pure opinions? These are supposed to be discussions, I thought this was part of why we generally don't like Reddit. Someone disagreeing is not a reason to downvote.

Again, I'm pretty neutral about the skin, any changes or lack-thereof don't affect me at all. I don't have a horse in this race. But please, try to actually discuss with people and not just hound anyone who may feel strongly in the opposite way to you. That alone is not grounds to silence them.

Welcome to the boards, where if you don’t agree with the mob and actually try and think about stuff, you’re 100% wrong and don’t know what you’re talking about! :^)

People take this upvote-downvote thing way too personally. It's essentially a voting system: when someone agrees with an idea they vote for it, when they feel neutral or don't care they don't do anything, and when they disagree they downvote to show that they don't like the suggestion. It's not a personal attack, players are just saying what ideas they like and what ideas they don't.

what really annoyed me was seeing comments that were literally constructive criticism (for example multiple people were saying that the fan made skin would be better with silver instead of gold accents) yet were still getting downvoted into oblivion and receiving a ton of hate

I'd just like to point out that I laid out my opinion as to why I think the fan skin is superior to Riots version as a response to the disagreeing party, and even laid out my reasons for having that opinion. So saying that discussion didn't happen is factually wrong. Link to my comment

It would be great if they offered refunds after they changed a skin you purchased. If its been changed, its not the product that was paid for.
