Ekko, the assassin. Or is he?

I mean his base values on the PBE are so low and the scalings are so high on everything but his ult.

He theoretically can be the first melee ADC in league. His procs for magic damage give him mixed damage. He has a shield that slows and stuns giving him edges in trades. His ult would allow him to take advantage of cocky ranged ADCs who thought they had the lead when he was really just setting them up. He has a gapcloser to get him into fights

I feel like Ekko can easily be played as an ADC although it would require playing a much different style.

Er... there's a lot of melee attack damage carries in league already.

MasterYi Fiora Yasuo and so on. They're played more like assassins, but they're carries of attack damage all the same. Just like you're talking about Ekko possibly being one, they already do that. Zed too, since he does split-push reasonably.

This was the most confusing post I have ever read. I honestly don't think you know what you're talking about.

I'm talking about a melee carry that can actually go bot lane. Sad thing is because his kit is overloaded with utility.

If you find the concept of a melee carry stupid then you really need to brush up on your so called "champion diversity" because turning all mADCs (melee ADCs) into assassin's is bad for the game.

This could be the first time that a melee carry can be bot lane and actually do well. I mean Yi could bot and so could Fiora, but they have nothing to peel and nothing to flaunt until 6. Ekko has an AoE CC that can set up picks on the two people and a gapcloser and once he hits 6 he doesn't fall off. And his passive chunking for magic damage means that most supports will have a hard time itemizing against it and it will scale with AS.

Yasuo could have been the first, but then his kit got all weird and assassiny isn't of carry like.

I personally have seen the same bot lane for almost 3 seasons. It would be nice to mix it up and see some mADCs bot lane. Ekko can be the first of many especially with the kit given to him (where his ult functions a lot like Weaver in DOTA and he is carry status).

Melee ADCs don't work in bot lane simply because they're melee, and because of this, they get denied too easily. Like ranged ADCs, they are item dependent, and being denied farm means they will be virtually useless. Most of these melee carries are played like assassins because they are given high mobility and damage steroids to allow them to be effective. They also usually have the ability to go invulnerable or invincible, and are sometimes given free critical strike chance. That makes them seem like assassins, because they can quickly run over squishies if they're fed without much counterplay. However, they are much more item dependent and usually much worse during the early stages of the game, so getting to that point is fairly difficult.

Ekko is not a melee carry. He is more dependent on his basic attacks, but he has no steroids to help him get more basic attacks off quickly. He has insane AP scalings, with fairly strong, but telegraphed, utility. He's not gonna have very high DPS, but he will have strong burst and assassination potential. He won't really work in the bot lane because melees and assassins don't really work well there. They get denied early on, and then even if they can stay even, they get peeled off by supports, and exhausted when they even attempt to all-in.

DOTA has melee carries and actually about half are

So wait they can't work? I'm sorry but in a harder game where its easier to deny carries there are more melee carries (also they don't ever hit over 2 attacks per second too). Are you telling me that there is something wrong with DOTA while it has very few balance issues and league has had chronic issues season after season.

Maybe the problem with League is the fact we have summoner's when we really shouldn't. It's a nice gimmick, but when you go. Meh just flash, or meh just bring exaust/heal/ignite/barrier. Also the whole rune page system needs to be scrapped so each champ has a somewhat standard start to go by.

DOTA doesn't have invisible power or random power spikes that you can't account for if you know the hero you are fighting. And that honestly is the biggest problem with League. Summoner's mean so much for the game. Runes make or break the average champion to the point where runes make the difference between 2 players of an equal skill.

To be quite honest, runes and summoner's often null weak points and strength's. That is a major problem.

DotA2 is balanced by all heroes being stupidity OP.

I remember playing aganist that Sion-like dude who had revive-passive as his "ult". He just ran down my whole team and killed us 1v5.

You can't compare Dota to League and vice versa. The game flow, metas, and characters are designed and done completely differently. I'm not saying it WONT work, go do it to your hearts desire. However, in this game, Supports have much less mana problems and can heal/shield/buff their carries a lot more than in Dota. If you are melee, the ranged character will bully you out of lane a lot more and your Support can't keep up.

Also what the heck are you speaking of with Dota. I have played it and I'm pretty sure a Drow Ranger, Sniper, Viper, and various other ranged carries will beat the crap out of any melee character in lane without a support to back it up. One of the core lessons in Dota is you want at least 2 ranged characters per team, 3 being optimal. A team full of Melees will have less farm and get denied all the time.

Wraith King. Buy a simple Blade Male and/or BKB and he is the easiest thing to deal with.

DotA has melee carries for incredibly different reasons.

First and foremost is turn speed. Melee turn speed is basically 0 whereas range is very significant.

Second, their offensive stat gives them defensive stats at the same time.

Third, BKB. Enough said.

Yes, that encourages you to build full AP.

He theoretically can be the first melee ADC in league.

u wot m8

MasterYi he isn't played bot lane, but it is indenyable that Yi a) buids full physical damage, b) does most of his damage from AAs, and c) can carry games pretty fucking hard

and he isn't even the only one

His procs for magic damage give him mixed damage. He has a shield that slows and stuns giving him edges in trades. His ult would allow him to take advantage of cocky ranged ADCs who thought they had the lead when he was really just setting them up. He has a gapcloser to get him into fights

That describes a bruiser much more than it does a mADC. The important thing he is missing for an mADC is a good steroid. Even the closest thing there is to a mixed damage mADC already in league, Shyvana , has a powerful %-based on-hit, as well as an AA reset that double procs on-hits and lowers its cooldown on AAs - these two together function as her "steroid". Ekko has... three on-hits, only one of which does good lategame damage without AP, his W passive, but even that one is much more effective with AP (that ratio is fucking ridiculous right now, and they've already nerfed it a bit).

I feel like Ekko can easily be played as an ADC although it would require playing a much different style.

Wait until you've actually tried it. The damage will be much much lesser than if you simply built AP.

This can go for every Melee in the game... have you have tried Kayle as a marksman? Probably not the best example because she can become ranged.. but still the same concept of having to try a different play style in the bottom lane. The whole purpose of the marksman is to have that role of positioning to have maximum damage output. Ekko's kit is Assassin based, I see it a lot like Ahri's kit, just with no escape, besides his ult of course, unless used aggressively. For this reason, I'm going to have to 'respectfully' disagree with you, but good thought; I'm sure you can make it viable. I see him working great as auto attack based, which is pretty replicated in his W passive. You poke the enemy laner down until you can get that max damage auto on them, but that is not exactly adcarry-like. Sorry :C

Nitpick: His ult has a 1.3 AP scaling, last I checked.
