I feel like riot deliberately balances queues to have strings of wins next to strings of losses.

seriously. it started with an afk just as we were winning one game. into a few games that just went awful. to the final straw that broke the camel's back when I ended it with a vayne and a kayn that couldn't figure out what dodging was and who let the ezreal poke them down eternally under tower while they docilely walked up to farm. in no way was I given the chance to do anything about these games which is somewhat typical in support but just gets exacurbated when I look back through some of these people's histories and my allies were just stupidly prone to losing streaks while my enemies were prone to winning streaks. it feels like the case. which is really shitty. but what do I know eh I've been told I know nothing because I say fuck the grind after I get to silver and don't care anymore and play normals or other actually fun games.

also I saw way too much vayne and leona for my taste in the string of games, dunno what that was about but I just banned them on principal as things went on. [sg-lux-2]

How the fuck is Riot supposed to ensure you get an AFK in your game? Like, I see people throwing this around a lot “omg Riot matched me with two people who AFKed in a game” but there’s absolutely no way this can be true.

Matchmaking, by virtue of it being matchmaking, will always have an “ebb and flow” to it - let’s say your proper MMR is 1000. You win a game, so you’ll move up slightly, you win another, you win and lose some, and now you’re hovering at 1050 even though your skill is still 1000. You will be getting matched against players who are around 1050 MMR, thus you will necessarily lose more games for a while until you are back to your proper MMR based on skill.

Riot knows who the afkers are and who the int feeders are. If they wanted to they can match you with them.

Analytics goes very deep in this game.

problem is. matched against opponents that are 1050 but often with allies that are lower. the kayn and vayne hadn't even made it out of bronze in the last seasons they'd played while the enemy was all solid silver.

I dunno I just said it's a feeling. because this was my first set of the season there were no wins to boost my mmr and I had already lost against some higher division players in some far more gripping matches than the last one. that was just a joke really, but not a good one.

It can be terribly frustrating to have this happen, but it's not something that the system does on purpose. What happens is that the system is oscillatory in nature. Once you reach your actual skill level your wins and losses will cause you to move up and down across that level. Being on the higher or lower end of that will result in easier or harder games for you. It's not that the system tries to create streaks, it is more that the system cannot balance thins so that you won't go on streaks.

I won five this season then lost five. Those were my promo's. I checked the OP.GG and only one of the five feeders consistently feed. Just having a bad game due to failed macro knowledge.
