Questions and Tips about Kennen?

Today i bought kennen and i really like this champion. I have been building him like this:

item 3152 > item 3157 > item 3020 > item 3116 > item 3100 > item 3089

Is this good itemization for him?

Also, im not sure how im supposed to start fights with Kennen. Usually, im the one who initiates the fight. Ill Protobelt + QWW someone (the first W is an empowered auto), then ill E in the middle of all the enemies, R, and Zhonya.

But, is he not supposed to initiate it? Is he supposed to wait for his allies then go in?

Please let me know if im playing him right or not, itll really help!

Mind you that AP kennen has fallen out of favor due to tons of changes, many are playing him AD, though protobelt remains a core item. See here: http://lolalytics.com/champion/Kennen/
