Easy and Short. Its a Deck builder style of game.
Details. The core of the game is about building matches. Your hand is whats in play, your deck is what's on your bench. 3 of a champion is a match and upgrades the champion by 180% AD and HP plus upgrades their ability. The 3 star versions of champions get 360% AD HP and the T3 version of an ability.
Gold is your economy and how you build your hand and deck. You minipulate your gold in game to control your economy and also its part of when you can go for a power spike or not. You get 5 gold (outside of the first few starting rounds.) per round. You get 1 gold for winning a match. Going on Streaks also adds extra gold, the length of the unbroken streak results in eather 1,2,3 extra gold. It can be win or loss streaks as long as it does not break. You also can gain extra income via intrest. each 10 gold you finish a round with provides an extra 1 gold up to 5 (50 stored gold.) Pirates provide RNG gold averaging to 1.7, but its not reliable on its exact value.
So, math is a lot of it. Each Level you gain impacts what champions in the pool you personally have access to. From T1 to T5 units, here is how many there are in the pool to be purchased by players. Each purchase on the bench or In play removes them from the pool. 39, 26, 21, 13, 10, So probability of pool matters a good deal. Level 1-3 are basically a non factor. Level 4 is your first big economy decision. Your drop rates at level 4 are 50% 35% 15% 0% 0% . So 50% X 5 to see T1 units. This is the first economic decision you really need to make. Do you go in hard to upgrade T1 units for your comp? The cost of it is not set, it can be very expensive and you need to decided if your willing to ALL in for a comp off your items from early game or wait it out to go ham later. You only have a economy window to do this if you do not buy a single EXP and avoid rerolling till Krugs. Then you have krugs, who might force you to grind for t2 units to kill them, or you have built a team with the intent to kill krugs not nessesarly win vs players. After that you have exactly 1 round to reroll for as high of a T1 unit you can at the best drop rates for t1.
This matters to an extent because its gonna impact viability of some comps. If your wanted to do nobles because of items. and do not roll for higher Tier level 1 units? your gonna be kinda fked. The drop rate lowers every level for T1 units.
Level 9 looks like this. 10% 15% 35% 30% 10%
But don't get deceived! you need to account for poolsize! 10% for 1 in 13 Vs 10% for 1 in 6 results in trying to collect 8 of a kind to be dramatically higher, how ever the much larger pool size means that its far harder to block. T5 units can be hard countered from upgrading to 3star by purchasing and benching 2 of any 1. Theres only 10 of each in the pool total.
So basically its about paying attention to your enemys builds and items, constructing a team you feel can win, building the economy to burn to achieve that comp. If they require higher Tier to unlock then you need to upgrade level to fix drop rate. If a lot of them are low Tier champions you need to burn rerolls to get a decent bench state.
Well... That's the short hand basics. >.> What... I like numbers.
