Captain Darling2 votesShyvana gets passive ar/mr that doubles on ult. Wukong gets passive ar/mr for every enemy champ nearby. Poppy's ult is the ultimate tank move.
Not saying these make them good tanks, but they do at least have some defense in their kits; Darius does not. That said, Darius's high damage output (true damage reusable execute ult) and slightly tanky base stats means he can build tank easily without losing much damage.
Marthian2 votesHe's also the only Bruiser with % Armor penetration in his kit. And while some can build 1 damage item and still destroy carries, Darius especially can get away with 1 damage item and still burst champions. If he gets tank stats, he's going to pay for it in losing offensive stats.

TehNACHO5 votesAdding onto this, if you also consider what his build path requirements are, you'll notice that necessarily speaking, Darius can afford to build a lot of tanky items without having to sacrifice all of his damage.

IsIsGankedParis1 votesHaving 2 more base armor doesn't make a huge difference and Lee Sin has higher hp/5 now, Darius doesn't have the highest base health, armor, or hp per 5. Trynd beats him in health, Lee beats him in hp/5, and tanks beat him in armor.

Eawaf1 votesPlease the last thing i want to hear is a Darius saying ANYTHING about poppy other then how he shits on her without even trying ; /. Poppy can't even CS when in lane with a Darius. She is almost guaranteed to lose 2/1 if not 3/1 in cs without jungle help. Her passive does absolutely nothing against the bleed stacks of Darius ; /. She has no sustain built into her kit and it takes 1/3 of her mana to Q at level 1. No more QQ plz.
Bleed + True damage Easily the most hard countered match up poppy has.
