Even the reddit community is on fire about how bad this season actually is

The boards are known for their negative posts however It is rare for redittors to massively upvote negative statements about LoL :

Meanwhile this post got like 3k3 uptvotes in 9 hours :

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/93ei14/were_about_three_months_away_from_preseason_yet/

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/93bdsn/scarra_my_honest_thoughts_about_the_current_state/

the scarra video on reddit got more than 5k upvotes.

Youtubers, streamers, pro players, my friends, your friends and now reddit....

And riots says... Na it's just your imagination majority of the community don't think that...

You have to know that majority of the players never use the boards or reddit and they don't percieve the need to express themselves about the state of the game because they think it would change nothing. However if you ask those payers what they think about the game this year... Most of them have the same answer.

Remember the people who were saying at S7 "Don't worry, Riot will fix the game in Pre-S8 and turrets will definitely get buffed, stop complaining" ?

Or when people said "it's just preseason, it has been like this every year" in the beginning of this year?

AbiwonKenabi3 votes

In our defense, it usually is like that at the beginning of the year. That said, it definitely feels like we've never quite gotten back to relative normalcy the regular season usually entails.

Wait you mean riot is bad at their job and people are realizing it more and more the more they fuck up? Wow shocker.

Honestly its insane balance and design still have their jobs, in any other industry people who suck ass at what they do get fired but for some reason riot just keeps employing idiots. Imagine if a designer at a car company or anywhere else that sells a product put out shit 2-3 years in a row. Think they'd still have their job? It honestly must be harder to get fired at riot than the postal service.

And for anyone who doesn't think theyre idiots literally all they have to do to make they game wayyyyy better is revert this entire season which should take about 5 mins and yet they

I really do wonder about player numbers. A LOT of people have been saying they're quitting, and major streamers actually have been quitting, so I wonder if that's something that could get the balance and/or gameplay teams fired. Maybe the game isn't losing players in droves like many of us think.

They're most likely down and def not increasing considering Riot used to always jerk themselves off when they hit a new peak and they haven't done so in forever

Leetri2 votes

They showed player stats like once, how is that jerking off? Outside of that, they did mention their player numbers in a Forbes interview in I believe 2016, and then they had 100 million monthly players.

To be able to fire them, you must first find a suitable replacement.

riot was asked for like 5 months to add a bruiser keystone, then after all that waiting and pro players making videos complaining about it we got this broken degeneracy named conqueror. Now everyone is playing burst mid bot and jungle because of the new damage items and the crit rework, quinn jhin morgana brand zed talon fizz zoe the new crit is pretty much ADCs playing without crit for 2/3rds of the game so people just pick mage supports to deal damage and win fights.By the time you builditem 3031 s and item 3089 s the game is over.

JackMcSnipeyz5 votes

Didnt you guys ask for changes? Every major change was in response to major outcry.

The bruisers cried until they got their keystones, changing the meta. Everyone cried to nerf botlane so they gutt marksmen and change the meta. Everyone cried about shields so they nerfed shield items and enchanters and changed the meta. Everyone asked for more reworks and Riot put more teams to pump them out faster.

Because we all know that if riot was slow on one of these changes, instead of this post we'll have one complaining about how Riot never listens to us and are too slow to change and balance the game.

Aram Mama 6 votes

But no one asked for towers to be garbage and no one asked for teamfights to end in 0.4 seconds. No one asked for crit to be nerfed to the ground, no one asked for assassins to miss every skill and still oneshot you with electrocute and ignite. No one asked for those things in any patch.

JackMcSnipeyz4 votes

Turret nerfs - i agree

Teamfights taking 0.4 seconds are a symptome of people asking for a nerf to shields and enchanters and tanks

Crit nerfs - people were absolutly asking for crit to be gutted, even when the changes landed on the PBE people called them buffs at first.

Electrecude and ignite - same as shield nerfs and the meta evolving into burst oriented game because DPS and enchanters are kinda bad so just take a burst mage and assassin and fight to 1 shot the other.

In conclusion - MOST changes were in response to the community, the problem is the community is short sighted and emotionally fueled, so if adc and enchanters are strong, they cry for the gutting of that problem, unaware of how is effects every other role. Same for tank nerfs, and the assassin buffs.

Cavesloth3 votes

Just because the community asked for changes and then riot made those changes doesn't necessarily mean they were listening and responding. Correlation doesn't equal causation. Riot made games shorter and snowbally because THEY wanted shorter games and flashy plays for the LCS, and Asian internet cafe players, and now they are continuing to go in that direction in a desperate attempt to compete with battle royale style games. You can blame the community all you want, but even IF and that's a big if, they made ALL these changes to please the community, its still THEIR fault for doing so, instead of sticking with a tried and true game formula that worked instead of short snowbally games that are almost universally loathed.

JackMcSnipeyz2 votes

Also wronged, long games were seen as very negetive back in the day, people felt annoyed going 45 minutes for a game they will lose eventually. Champs like ziggs and other wave clearing mages were nerfed, aswell as turrets getting nerfed.

Of course, they overdone it, games are too snowbally now, but it has nothing to do with battle royale games, this is honestly a conspiracy level explenation.

I dont blame the community for anything, Riot is responsible for how they change the game, but they are influenced by the feedback, you just cant please everyone.

I personally agree with you, im sick of getting 1 shotted by brand support and zed roaming my way level 6 with duskblade, but that's just the way the meta roles until we get tanks buffed again, then people will complain about tanks.

Cavesloth1 votes

Its not really conspiracy level stuff, everyone and their dog is flailing about trying to respond to battle royal games sudden popularity (basically every major FPS currently in development has suddenly announced it will have the mode), its hardly tinfoil hat stuff to think riot is concerned about it too, but again that's more an afterthought to the LCS/Asian internet cafes need for shorter games and the LCS need for "MUH BIG PLAYS".

As for them buffing tanks, the only buff I can see them giving is more damage, and no sane person wants that. Tanks don't want that, people fighting tanks don't want that, but that is what riot will give them if they give them anything.

JackMcSnipeyz1 votes

Even if they buff tank's durability, it will just indirectly buff how much damage they can dish out while being unkillable. Im not saying it will be a bad change, but i gurantee that if they buff tank's durability, assassin and mage mains will flood the boards complaining how tanks cant be killed and shrug off all damage.

Again, not taking sides, it's just my neutral observation from reading around here for a long time and picking up this never ending cycle.

You're just talking out of your ass lmao.

No one asked for this garbage season and the retarded decisions that came with it. In the end it's Riot's job to make the game feel fun regardless of what you think about the community.

JackMcSnipeyz1 votes

No, people were asking for these changes and when the changes come they suddenly feel their effects. If you think doomsday posts about how the game is garbage are anything new and specific to these seasons - you're wrong.

Ever since i started reading around the boards from late season 3, every season with no exception, people would call the current season "the worst". Riot's game is to make the gamd fun, part of their way of changing the game is feedback from players, i never said riot arent responsible and the community are the evil ones, but the community DID ASK FOR THESE changes

slow enough (2to 3 years) so adc mains can climb the ladder

maybe if we just scheduled a day of protest where no one played a game of league, we just sat back on discord or skype and played something else. Maybe then that would show riot.

Aram Mama 2 votes

Trust me they see numbers falling, for example if my friends quit and almost entire friendlist of people who usually played regularly are now offline all the time, that tells you something. Also i read posts about other people having similar experiences.

League has much less players than year ago.

Even the reddit community is on fire [...]

That begs the question: When is reddit community NOT on fired over something?

I don't think "even reddit is on fire" is an indication for anything. It's like saying "even the grass is green today, therefore..."

Except they've never said that. They've commented on how they take the Boards with a grain of salt, due to it's echo-ness, and they've said that they tend to rely more on random surveying.

But nah, let's keep throwing words in Riot's mouth, that'll promote discussion.

HaIlMonitor2 votes

We ARE NOT the majority though. NA makes up what like 10% (As of last year) of accounts? Even if all of EU feels the same way that is still less then 50%, and some people are okay with the current game more then others.

They never actually said that.

Also, in one of the topic, people don't say they hate this season but that there was far too much changes (and especially BIG changes) and it got very hard to keep up the pace. So it is VERY different from the narrative you want to push.

As for scarra, yeah, they always talk about pro players opinion, plays and stuff so it isn't even surprising.

Honestly what are they doing? Like do they just pretend the community doesn't exist? The most up-voted response to the season 9 ranked changes in the recent notes is "wait what the fuck no one said they wanted the positional ranked changes". Riot is blatantly ignoring everything the community says. It's pathetic and insulting to the fanbase
