What does "adaptive" mean?

I see this term a lot in the rune descriptions. Can someone explain what this means?

Lets say you get 10 adaptive AD or AP.

If you're Lux , with no items, you'd get AP since you're an AP champion.

+10 AP from adaptive. +0 AD from adaptive

However, if you build AD, you will get AD instead.

+0 AP from adaptive. +10 AD from adaptive

Hmm, can you confirm it works on a build bases, and not on a champion basis?

Yea this is what I want to know. I'm assuming it's whatever type of damage you've purchased more of, but I'm not sure.

If you have nothing, it looks to see what champion you are. If you have ad or ap, it will go with what ever you have more of.

Actually it's not 10ap or 10 ad. It's 10ap or 6ad

Adaptive AD is 60% of the listed value.

a year ago when the runes were different, you told you how much adaptive ad or ap it gave you lol

What you're talking about, is "ADAPTIVE FORCE" lol

either way the numbers are irrelevant

Basically, it means what you are building determines which one you get. If you're building AP you get AP. If you're building AD, you get AD.
