PSA: Flex ranked now working as intended

Please stop with the QQ post about your flex rank.

Flex is a new queue that is just like prior seasons when soft reset occurs. With the games having such crazy variances original placements were messed up big time. You had ex: diamond players being placed in low silver/bronze while having ex: silver or gold players being placed higher than their season 6 dynamic queue ranked.

Flex starting rank is intended to be loosely based off your season 6 dynamic queue rank. If we know anything from prior seasons, we know ranks drop at the start of each season. Since its a new queue and preseason it looks like Riot planned to also include a rank reset. It doesn't matter what you go in placements, you shouldn't be placed higher than your season 6 dynamic rank. In fact, you should be placed roughly at least a tier (if not more) lower. This should honestly be no surprise.

For any of you crying because you were placed and then climbed a few ranks please stop. The reason you climbed so fast is the system was messed up and your mmr was inflated. To guarantee it was fair to everyone, Riot simply reset your placements to where they should have been originally.

To those of you who are higher elo that got a poor placement in flex, try playing your extra placement game to see if your rank rises. In some cases players were placed lower than they should have been and after the fix were placed higher. If you still much lower even after placements, not much to say except, new queue, suck it up, you will be ok just have some climbing to do.

So please stop making stupid posts about flex queue rankings. Yes the match making is messed up, but placements are now more accurate than they were before the "fix".

Sincerely,

Someone really sick of hearing you all cry about flex queue.

I was Silver 4 last season, played my placements, won 5 and lost 5 and got Bronze 1. Fine, I deserve it. But today the game wanted me to play one more placement and then it put me in Bronze 4. So from Silver 4 to Bronze 4, do you call that a soft reset?

yes

No it's not lol. Read my post below

Yes it is. How can you associate numbers with a rank. We all know riot keep mmr numbers secret. When did you do your placements for s6 (those where you got back s4)? If you do your placements at the very beginning of the season, it is totally normal to drop an entire tier. But if you wait a few weeks, basically when almost everyone got their ranks back (or close to it), then you might not drop as much as you would at the beginning of the season. Stop acting like you know everything.

Stop acting like you know everything.

I apparently know more than you because thats how it's always worked. So I think you need to stop acting like you know everything when you obviously dont.

I have been playing league for a few years now and have multiple irl friends who have been playing even longer than me and thats how it always works. If people do well in placements they drop maybe a division or two in lower ELOs. 3 divisions if they did bad in placements. Dropping 7 or more divisions is unheard of in bronze-mid gold.

You're assuming things that you have no proof of. Also, youre totally off topic right here. I answered a player who asked if it was normal to drop form silver 4 to bronze 4. You're just making a shame of yourself by believing what's being said on the internet. I don't know how the system works, but obviously your statements about the reset are some good bullshit. Unless you have a link to a legit rioter explaining in detail how mmr is affected by a soft reset? Yeah, i don't think you can.

That's not how a soft reset is supposed to work. It's supposed to bring players closer to the "average" level, which is somewhere in Silver IIRC.

It shouldn't be putting people farther into bronze because that's farther from the mean than they were.

A reset is supposed to go both ways.

Going from Gold, Platinum, etc. into Bronze should never be possible in a ranked reset, simply because you're going from one side of the average to the other rather than closer to the average.

Read the FAQ. Everyone is going down because the highest rank you can get is plat 1. Going from gold/plat to bronze should not be possible i agree. But i answered a player who went from silver 4 to bronze 4, which is totally possible.

It is 100% resonable. Season 5, I was Silver 5, and I won all 10 of my placements, and I got placed in Bronze 5 at the start of the season. And then I was getting 45LP a win.

i had the same issue, the answer they give me was that how flex works: whatever u win or lose all of ur 10 placement games, u will be placed depending of ur rank at the beginning of season 2016. So me by example, i started s2, i climb to plat5 this season. I won 12 of my 15 flex rank games = back to s1 , i was gold 3 in flex before the 1 game that i won today.

Haven't done my pre season placements but that's not entirely true how soft resets have worked in the past. In the past, your end of season MMR gets averaged with the average MMR of all players which is around silver 4 or 5. The result is that someone who ended a season with silver 4 or 5 MMR actually would have almost no change to their MMR. Bronze players would have a slight increase in MMR. The higher you ended the season, the larger the loss you would take. A gold 5 player, for instance, would only drop a few divisions to start their placements and could easily get placed back into gold 5 by doing well in them. Dropping full tiers and then some was actually extremely uncommon for lower ELOs. Dropping from gold 5 MMR to bronze 2 really never happened unless you went 0-10 in placements

That isn't true at all.

The formula for resets is and always was: (MMR+1200) / 2
And then you do your placements starting at that MMR. more you win, higher you go, and vice versa.

It will always, always put you lower than your last season rank

1200 MMR is silver 4 or 5 lol. So what I said is completely correct. And no, it didn't always place you lower. I ended silver 4 last season and got placed silver 4 this season. Think I went 7W-3L in placements

Where did you get that from

I had already done my placements, was placed in Silver III. I played quite a few games after that, got close to Silver II. Today, I played one game and it said "You've been placed in Bronze IV." What the actual fuck League I was already placed, and was doing SO WELL. Why must I climb from the bottom when I was already climbing from Silv III.
