Unbalanced ranked matchmaking.

For shits and gigs I decided to look up the players from one of my games.

Friendly team: Me (support): gold 3 50% winrate (op.gg says gold 3 MMR). Top laner: silver 5, 47% winrate (op.gg gives him a bronze 1 MMR) Jg: Gold 2, 46% winrate (op.gg has him at a gold 3 MMR) Midlaner: Gold 2, 47% winrate (op.gg has him at gold 4 MMR) ADC: Gold gold 2, 55% winrate (op.gg has him at a gold 2 MMR)

Enemy Team: Toplaner: Gold 4, 61% winrate (op.gg has him at gold 4 MMR) Jungler: Gold 1, 50% winrate (op.gg has him at gold 1 MMR) Midlaner: Gold 1, 66% winrate (op.gg has him at gold 1 MMR) ADC: Gold 4, 54% winrate (op.gg has him at a gold 1 MMR) Support: Gold 3 49% winrate (op.gg has him at gold 2 MMr)

Averages friendly team: Rank: Gold 4 Winrate: 49%

Enemy Team: Rank: Gold 3 Winrate: 56%

Not only do they have on average an entire tier (?) of rank on us, but they have a 7% higher average winrate and we have a silver 5. How are these teams fair?

Riots system for the most part already knows who will win and is actively working to force people to 50/50 win rates. Now WHY does it seem to do this with your top player being only 55% only Riots knows and its some sick game they like to play. I think it has to do with champions and they only want some to have good scores. jk

Match making is sadly pretty bad in this game.

The difference between Gold 4 and Gold 3 is literally nothing.

This seems pretty fair to me

Still a difference when you have a silver 5 going against a gold 4. Not balanced match up.

Link to this game? Is it flex Queue?

I swear you’re bullshitting this is def not ranked solo.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Why? I also had a plat 2 adc vs a d3. D4 jungle vs d1 . That's matchmaking and duoQ for ya.

Disembark1 votes

That’s completely different (although I doubt it happens often/at all outside of early season).

Because at that elo you often get high elo D1+ smurfs that might be at Plat2 or w.e. at the moment but have very high MMR.

Or you get boosted people that have an MMR much lower than their rank.

Also the # of players that high up is a lot less, especially late at night. It’s possible you get a match with people ranging from D4 to D1 - where the D1 is losing a lot and the D4 is winning a lot (which means they have closer MMR).

None of these are the game for Gold-

First of all, silver 5 are not matched with gold 1's You looked up the wrong profile. For example in my name " soulnibbIer " you might think you know how it's spelled, but actually, that second " L " is a capital " i "

Secondly, any disparity in MMR is rewarded with more points for a win and fewer lost points for a loss.

Third, win percent means nothing, since eventually everyone will play enough games to essentially be 50% win no matter what. Much above 50% just means few games played in the new season.

Your second part is utter bullshit and definitely not how this game works.

Actually it is. ELO based systems do not need an even match to work. A team of champions can play a team of bronze and it will work fine (matchmaker won't let it happen but it would work from an MMR standpoint).

The champion team is expected to win so if they do, they gain very little MMR and the bronze team loses very little. If there is an upset, the gains and losses will be MUCH greater than if the teams were balanced, but it will work.

Boy, trust me I looked up the right profile. Literally I can see his game he played with me in his match history on OP.gg he is silver 5.

The ranked system is complete trash. One of my RANKED game i had two people UNRANKED and on of them never played rank for months just normals and bots. How does riot think thats balance matchmaking? All unranked players should be put against eachother if they are doing placement and not put into other peoples games that have ranks. Nevermind i know why, Riot doesn't give two fucks.

Win rate doesn't mean anything and op.gg's MMR is an estimate. And remember, the difference between Gold 3 and Gold 4 is literally 1 MMR.

gold 4 to gold 3 isnt huge, until you compare the silver 5 47% win rate who gets dumpstered by the gold 4 60% winrate.

Same in Normals. Forced 50% win ratio.

The last game I played of ranked, I checked solo/duo queue rankings after the game. The rankings varied from Silver II to Plat II when checked from the client. When immediately checked from op.gg, the ranks varied from Silver II to Gold V, plus unranked and that the outlier player's Flex ranking was Platinum II.

What is actually going on with the ranking calculations?
