Is there really a significant reason why soloQ and dynamicQ cant coexist?

lolipopevelynn··4 votes·407 views

regardless of how popular solo Q is over dynamic there will ALWAYS be buddies or even families that want to play ranked together. this is where dynamic will play its part. but for us players who want to just play their own game and make their own shots is where SoloQ plays its part.

for these players they can say "hey, i got to silver/gold/plat/diamond/master/challenger BY MYSELF without the help of anyone. i got there on my OWN skill"

THIS is why solo que should exist. it exist to tests your own skill, not the skill level of an entire group of players of varying skill. or a group of bronze players getting carried to gold/plat by a master smurf friend or 2.

so why keep that away from us?

Dynamic que would likey be dead with ridiculous que times, indicating that it is a total unwanted failure, which makes Riot look bad.

It literally just comes down to the danger of the two queues dividing the playerbase evenly enough that neither queue is popular enough to be very usable. Queue times for ranked are already quite high, and they can only get bigger with the playerbase cut into two halves (even if it's not necessarily a 50/50 split).

And in terms of one of the queues being too unpopular to be viable, I would be significantly more worried about solo queue than dynamic.

this wasnt a problem with the old system of solo/duo que, ranked 3s, and ranked 5s teams. as a matter a fact dynamic que has already streamlined the old 3s and 5s ranked ques by default. the only que that got fucked by it is solo que.

as for which que being unpopular, the majority of the player base wants solo que to exist, including ALOT of pro/top level players.

Last season's queues were very different. We can compare the pool of players that each queue has to choose from in comparison to last season:

S5: Solo/Duo Q: solo-only players, duo-only players, occasional solo/duo players Ranked 5s: full teams

S6: Theoretical Solo Q: solo-only players + players that occasionally play in premades and are happy to maintain a rank in both solo + dynamic - both types of players need to be place a lot of value on the competitive integrity of ranked Dynamic Q: solo-only players that are randomly ok with dynamic que, duo-only, trio-only, quad-only, 5-man only players, players that occasionally solo and occasionally premade with any number of other players but don't want to bother gaining a rank in another queue when they solo

Last season solo queue was by far the most popular because it had a significantly broader pool of players to pull from, but this season it's the reverse. It has pretty niche appeal in comparison to dynamic queue which everyone can play no matter how big their party, as long as they're ok with it being a less accurate measure of their personal skill. I personally would not be at all confident in a very niche queue (solo) being more popular than something which is so overwhelmingly broad in comparison (dynamic).

I can't really agree with "the majority of the playerbase wants solo" being presented as fact, either. There are a lot of players who want solo for sure but it is impossible for people with as little knowledge as us to assess if the Boards and Reddit are being very representitive on this occasion. I know the silent majority/loud minority argument gets trotted out a lot on here and is very tired, but "everyone on the boards says it!" just isn't good enough evidence. This is especially true given that I feel like the Boards and Reddit attracts a lot of solo-only players by their very nature (they're forums and they tend to be used by people with less intensive social lives). The people most likely to prefer dynamic queue probably don't spend as much time on the internet as the people most likely to solo queue.

really, you are forgetting that absolutly nothing was wrong with the old solo Q or any of the other ques aside from riots own bull shit logic to spoon feed us. dynamic que was a marketing decision and it was forced upon us. it wasnt made because the community wanted it. pretty much like how dominion was taken out for no real good reason except "its taking too much out of our billions of $$$ we got last year hehe"

What was the goal of the marketing decision...? I don't see how it makes the game more profitable.

less ques = less management = less money being spent = profit?

them putting solo/duo/3s/4s/5s all into one que saved them a shit ton of expenses. it was a lazy way out for them.

"For these players they can say "hey, i got to silver/gold/plat/diamond/master/challenger BY MYSELF without the help of anyone. i got there on my OWN skill""

This represents a huge fallacy in logic. But, more to the point, having two separate ques doesn't change anything. One is always going to be useless, based on how pro players react. If every pro player is on DuoQ, then soloQ is meaningless. And vice versa.

Not to mention, the boards aren't exactly a good example of why soloq should exist. Over half the posts I've seen are the result of a person being unable to climb, and instead of attempting to get better they want to blame smurfs / premades.

one que will never be meaningless over the other, and even if it is then dynamic que is just so much worse for the game because of how unevenly split teams are... in pure solo que you will always get a even split because you will know that everyone is in fact a solo player with no duo or 4man clan premades.

Because there will be teams of 4, there are probably not that many solo players who will go to Dynamic Queue to get put with a 4 man premade right? Plus most people group up to deal with other premades, if Solo Queue comes back they will go to that instead.

My issue with Solo Queue is i'm tired of relying on random strangers who 90% of the time fail me. My skill in the game is based on how lucky I am with my teammates, its impossible to carry 2 lanes that are already 0/7 at 10 minutes when you don't even have a full item yet. I trust my friends to not feed and with them I can focus more on my lane and where I need to be rather than "wtf are my teammates doing?", I don't need to ping and type non-stop for a dragon or a baron or a turret, because if me an my friends go the randos will have no choice but to follow.

In my opinion Dynamic Queue is 100x better than Solo Queue, IF IT WAS USED PROPERLY. It is not used properly however as most people use it to carry their Bronze friends to higher ranks, but honestly this is more a problem with Smurfs or the allowed difference in ranks than with Dynamic Queue.

Imo dynamic kinda works for ranked since you want to communicate with an entire team during picks/bans. Premades bullying is a thing with or without that anyway.

But for normal games we need team builder back, it's freaking normals and I want to play X champion in Y position either for fun or training, I don't care to have a little longer to wait expecially if I would have to suffer dodge penalty in dynamic if I really want to play it and I etiher don't get the spot or said champion gets banned or picked.
