I wish we had more tools in the game to combat grasshopper champions

Strawberrycocoa··32 votes·12,520 views

I want more tools to just baseball-bat their kneecaps and lock them down, like we used to have before all the stuns just disappeared or shrank down to useless durations. I find mobility-burst champions incredibly frustrating to play against, and I miss the shit like point-click stuns that let you take their wind out and kept them in line.

grounded-effect for everyone!

Akali grounded! Ahri grounded! Camille lady scissor legs you are grounded Zed grounded till next season

and no list would be complete without our queen of bullshit mobility

Leblanc grounded forever!

But in all seriousness what really makes me sick is how every player that mains these champs is a super cocky arrogant prick, who thinks jumping across the entire map effortlessly, being able to catch fucking everything while also being able to run away from fucking everything, is the epitome of skill expression.

Leblanc being the prime example of a champ that doesn´t have to commit to anything.

like...

Veigar Syndra ult ---> "Wow so unskilled"

any assassin engages you from one screen away ---> "outplayed"

and while most mage players make fun of their delete-buttons themselves for their uninteractiveness, assassins are all like "all me! all skill! from now on I shall be called king of games! Everyone, bow before my superior game knowledge and skill for I have caught this immobile champ with delayed cc. And it only took me 5 dashes, invisibility, and my flash"

Soo yeah for my taste everyone could have a poppy W.

Grounded ends up unfortunately screwing over champions who aren't exactly mobility problems.

Evelynn can't use E or her ult, demolishing her damage. Elise can't use her spider Q (not sure if her E is prevented or not). Darius can't use his ult. Leona can't use her E, messing up her initiate combo.

More broadly, immobile champions can't use summoner 4

This is not the solution to the problem because it won't actually limit the mobility creep culprits unless you can keep it constantly up, but a lot of immobile champs have a minor dash tied to their damaging spells. Grounding destroys them.

What is more oustanding is that there are players like who you dont UNDERSTAND THAT HYPERMOBILE CHAMPIONS HAVE TO ABUSE THEIR FKING HYPERMOBILITY BECAUSE ITS THEIR STRENGHT

So yeah your Super safe Le blanc unless she is risking to get a kill every 30 seconds is a trash player. So much for being safe when she has to abuse her fking safety by diving grouped enemy players

ITS A PART OF FKING POWERBUDGET

Eh unfortunately, point and click cc hurts more immobile champs than mobile ones. The only way to truly limit their mobility is through ground or w of poppy's. But riot is WAY too reluctant to give more champs ground. I suppose it makes sense, since that would hurt their playmaking champs.

What if item 3190 active instead of the shield, gave a Poppy-style barrier?

Feel Apathy4 votes

A new item with the premise might be cool, but reworking locket which has a history in this game is not okay.

Then nobody would Play Poppy... :/ And her skill can't be all that great considering nobody plays her as it is..

I'm not saying it should be as good as Poppy, not even close; no movement speed, no bonus resist, and doesn't move with the champion.

The issue is theirs anti mobility utility needs to be more accessible and it's not realistic to go to 3 champions for it... I'm all likelihood Poppy should be buffed if it ever happens.

Leona Q Alistar Q & W

Both of them have point to click CC

I don't think additional point to click CC is what this game needs, there's a reason why there's so little of it. Because it's frustrating and can be used in more than just protecting someone (such as starting engages).

What I do believe this game needs however is more tools such as; Debuffs (new and different types), Slows, or even more unique CC (Zoe's E is a good example of this).

To be entirely fair alistar's q doesnt count as point and click. And leona's q requires her to be melee range which against mobile champs might prove kinda difficult.

You can dodge Alistar W with a good dash... so not really?

FilDaFunk2 votes

YES! More dashes.

YuGiHo3 votes

try and do either of those to a Khazix or Katarina . not impossible but u cant deny that even with the tools to do so these type of champs are hard to lock down. Singed adhesive prob does a better job at this than any stun could.

LordGeovanni2 votes

Leona's Q is a 175 Range auto attack modifier. Point and click But far less powerful than something like Caitlyn traps Caitlyn E or draven E for 90% of the game.

CudyDarkyz5 votes

Taliyah used to alot, now most of them just ignore it tho.

Ifneth2 votes

Just wait until she gets some items. That thing hurts.

ADC5LUT5 votes

Yah not a fan of point and click cc because it hurts immobile champs even more, however grounded effects are amazingly perfect they punish ultra mobile champs while leaving less mobile champs relatively unscathed.

Kitten of Evil2 votes

Grounding isn't perfect. It absolutely ruins certain immobile champs because their skills have a minor dash attached: Eve's E and ult, Darius ult, Leona's E, Illaoi's W. Instead of disabling the dash, it just disables the whole skill.

that is more of a coding issue than a design issue.

I found Taric Point and click stun wasnt oppressive because while it was point and click it had a small range and he wanted to be in melee range before using it anyway to get max damage out of it. and unlike 'skill shots' (which you can just point and click over a champion who is sitting still or has to run straight at you to do anything) you cant use point and click spells at any time thus they are useless when people are chaising you because then you have to let them get in range while spells like Xerath e can be fired while he is running and even if the person is out of range they will run into range before it fizzles and get stunned or they dodge and cant catch you anymore

Nyarlathοtep7 votes

Are you high or something? Xerath cant e while he is moving.

LordGeovanni1 votes

Xerath's E has a short cast time can be casted while The enemy is out of range if the enemy were standing still but if the enemy is running at him that out of range enemy can then be hit with the edge of the E because movement. The point is that either you hit them with the Long range cc or you make them dodge it both cases get melee champions off of your case because you out run them normally with item 3113 (item 3086 for adcs) untell they get some conditional item used like item 3142 or item 2053 then they only slightly out run you but due to having to dodge skill shots they still cant catch you.

Nyarlathοtep

Yeah you are right it has a tiny cast time and you can cast the spell without having the need to target someone. As for you to make it so you will hit the enemy just on the edge of the spell, it will work only on not good players. Good players will simple sidestep it and proceed to murder your face. Also most champs nowadays have either a dash a movement speed buff or a cc of some sort to keep you in place. Which means that they will reach you. And kill you.

LordGeovanni1 votes

Side stepping the spell is just as good as not catching him too because just like how the stun takes up time so does side stepping to dodge any skill shot not just stuns takes up time to dodge it while Xerath is running straight away with other spells that you also have to dodge in his pocket. I know most meta champions have a dash but i dont like to only consider meta champions when talking about things I like to think about the Wu kong who has a dash but its targeted and useless if you arent in range. The Mordekaiser who needs Another champion engageing to use his speed boost (which i beleive is completely fine for him with the amount of damage he does) the Galio who has to Stop himself and throw himself back to dash forward for the same distance of just walking in the same amount of time the. Urgot who has to stop himself and through himself forward for negative distance of just walking. Then there are champions with mobility but their mobility is gated like mobility is supposed to be but most mobility in the game isnt Like Nautilus Or Hecarim but they are still considered op.

Glory973 votes

From the perspective of an assassin player: There are definetly enough champions that can cc assassins and prevent them from killing their targets.

Just that soloqueue players tend to not pick those champions. They'd rather go tryndamere or yasuo top with the dream of carrying 1v9 instead of a good tank that provides cc for your team. Or pick mage supports instead of heal+shield or cc supports.

If you just want more champions being able to counter assassins then nothing will change, because people will still pick those playmaker + carry champions. And having grasshoper champions that are good at shutting down other grasshoper champions would be somewhat unfair right?

(There are definetly some assassins that are pretty unbalanced, but I don't think that there are too few cc/peel- abilites)

LordMolgarath3 votes

I feel like this post is a little one-sided. Honestly, everything has been getting way to out of hand.

I fully agree that there are way too many high-mobility champions and that all-in assassins and the likes have way too easy escape tools, but there is also way too much CC in the game simultaneously. The problem is that all the power is focused into a select few champions to create Riot's money-making "meta."

A few examples of champions with crazy mobility: Ahri Akali Irelia Katarina Yasuo Zed But then we have examples of champions with way too powerful CC: Blitzcrank Leona Morgana Thresh Vi

The problem is less to do with too high mobility and too low CC, but more to do with meta, which is literally rotating super OP champion types that keep Riot's money coming.

LordGeovanni2 votes

That would be because those same ranged high mobility champions and high burst assassins have Decent cc with lots of damage on it. Arhi Charm Akali W slow while speeding her self up Yasou Q and R stuns you for half an eternity Zeds slow is decently big but id rather say the damage part is what is bad on it. While blitz will have a 120 mana cost Q with a 20 second cooldown not reduced by level ability. And Leona has pitiful damage and the last thing they did with her was nerf her damage and put more of it into ally reliant hits. thresh again long cooldown and low damage. Morg does too much damage for having cc and range and her Instance of Q cc is far too long. Vi also long cooldown low damage Her Q has a massive chargre time that none of the champions in the first row have through out their classes except irelia Irelia has lots of mobility dependent on the enemy lineing up for E but her damage is pitiful (trinity force isnt champion damage its Spell blade damage which any champion can pick up for similar results Same with Titanic hydra its heath damage.)

Hey some of us still have point and click stuns. Malz has one for his ult! Granted they nerfed the hell out of the rest of his kit so he could keep it and is basically a walking ult without damage until 3 items, but that's balanced right? I mean how many times can he die against high mobility, massive burst champions? It's not like they are designed to snowball or anything.... -_-

Espy Psyche1 votes

No, more grounded effects and more point and click CC won't fix this problem of hyper mobility champions always being better than immobile ones.

What will fix it is direct nerfs to mobile champions, forcing them to have a real cost to their mobility.

Some champions might be able to get their mobility gated by mana. Riven is the poster child of this -- all the problems with Riven are easily fixed by forcing her to manage mana. Even though she would build a Tear for 750g and solve all her issues with mana, it would delay her ability to be a lane bully until after first back and give opponents a chance to do something about her. Talon can get gated by mana by making his E have a mana cost so he can't just jump over walls constantly without considering the issues with doing so.

But others, like Leblanc, Zed, Akali, and other hyper mobile champions can't even be gated that way, and so they need to pay for their mobility in damage. Those kind of champions we need to just reduce all damage they deal by 15% or so as a mobility tax.
