Support, do everything!

If this continues, then no one will be allowed to say that the support is the worthless class anymore under penalty of law.

I point this out repeatedly that the support shouldn't be the one doing everything that ISN'T damage, and with each passing month, the number of things that the team expects me to do increases dramatically, overlapping into other roles that certain champions just can't do (being the healer as Braum or Thresh, or being the tank/frontliner as Soraka or Nami) and would be obscenely retarded to do so.

The extreme emphasis on damage and nothing else has made the role a horribly toxic thing to play, and yet I'm the only one who will ever willingly play the role in any queue I join. If we require a tank, I have only a handful of choices, but the behavior of my allies ends up dooming most of the available options. I can't really choose Leona or Thresh anymore because initiating any fight, even when I'm ordered to, causes my entire team to scatter off in the opposite direction or wait it out until some nebulous opportune moment (AKA after the tanks and other frontliners are dead) before charging into certain doom themselves because that opportune moment has already passed. Braum, which was my first last and only option for the longest time was recently made nonviable when people completely forgot that they can add and finish his passive stacks on the enemy, and that it does not in fact steal the kill, even as they're running away from the enemy jungler with 3 stacks on him and I'm holding back two more. Mages are even falling out of favor now because whenever I move to apply a buff or a heal or, you know, ANYTHING to save the life of my allies as they're engaged in the enemy, they'll do anything in their power to get away from me as if I'M the enemy as well. And then I'm expected to babysit them the entire time, even as the ADC is trying to kite Gromp for half a minute. We don't need an entire senatorial committee to clear out JUNGLE CAMPS.

There have been too many times when, even as the support, I'm the only one who is actually bothering to make a push while my team is sitting in the fountain or the jungle while 80% of all our turrets are still up, basic attacking one camp of monsters. I've dealt with five man camps as a SUPPORT for minutes at a time while I'm calling for help or pinging neglected lanes, hoping to god someone buys a clue and pushes, or comes to assist.

And in the middle of all this, I need to buy everything that the team could possibly want or need. Wards, crowd control, cooldown reduction, healing, shields, other utility items, armor, health, magic resist, and so on while the rest of the team focuses on damage, and 95% of the time, ONLY damage. There are only six item slots not including the trinket slot, but on an average game, only focusing on support items, the team demands ten different items at the very least. Wards on the field are capped at 3 per player, but people think the Sightstone somehow bypasses that limit. Recalling almost two years ago now became such an opulent luxury I'm expected to go leading the charge into the next teamfight IMMEDIATELY, even if I have less than 10 HP and no mana, and prepare to get reported if I don't. To say I'm overclocking every game as a support is the most extreme understatements in this millennium.

Not sure what the hell you have to do to become that disconnected with reality that the support is considered a filthy worthless role, and at the same time expect them to carry an ocean's worth of water for a team that is so overspecialized it borders on parody, and ignoring game rules and champion mechanics that have been around for over a year now, but it's driving me up a wall that no one notices this.

People think the support is the whore groupie of the team that goes around for their pleasure, when instead we are more like the mother of the team, we do what is needed to help out and we try to protect and serve at the same time.

And bitch slap the whiney ADC whenever they start to rage for dying when you had to back to get more wards. You pinged....you did....but no one ever listens to the supports.

ADC are like spoiled children (most of the time not all) where they scream and yell when they dont get their way and never see their own faults. Usually I only like supporting my friends or people I know, because I can talk to them and they know me and I know them.

Suppport are silent heros. People don't see what they do for the team, they don't see the shields, how they protect the carry, the wards. Unless they miss play, then the support get blamed.

Sincerly, a jungle main, that can't help top laners who dive between two towers or go in with 50hp... and get blamed for it.

This is like Commisnor Gordons quote at the end the Dark knight......Because he's the hero Botlane deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll troll him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Support Knight.

To be fair, in lane you feel great when you make plays to get your ADC kills, but sometimes in teamfights, you feel semi useless (depending on the champ). For example Lulu, Soraka, and Janna are great the whole game because you use you abilities and items to help your teamates in fights, while some are great for damage/starting teamfights such as Braum, thresh, and leona. Yet, sometimes when either your underfed (youre lvl 13 and everyone else is 16) does suck but You feel great when your adc shreks or you save an ally, to me thats what worth playing a support. Just helping people feels great.

Haven't the MVPs of the last two World Champions been supports? I just love it when players think supports do nothing.

Victorious skins are given out to the champion that Riot thinks had the greatest impact that season. Three of the four victorious skins are supports (Janna, thresh, Morgana; the other is Elise). So yea, lol

Edit: whoops, Thresh is a championship skin, not victorious, the other is actually j4. Thanks what is smite.

There are 12 types of support: Leona isn't one of them. Until is says Leona: Main - Support Secondary - Tank, I won't do it.

Bard one our newest supports, allows quick travel for all teammates. whether with his W or E, he can speed up MS. need a heal, he leaves a heal ready for you to get back into action. enemies closing in, his stun will stop them, and his never ceasing to grow passive damage slow will make them think twice. don't forget that he can stop a battle to favor allies.

Braum when Braum is here, we have someone to take the damage. using his body or shield, he can withstand anything. something strong coming, block it with your W. enemy getting away, slow them with your Q or knock up R. you can stun a enemy if you hit them 4 times. getting ganked, get close to your ally and give each other some bonus armor and magic resist.

Janna giving great bursts, Janna can allow a ally to deal good damage with her E. enemy getting away, slow them with your W or knock them up with your Q. ally low in health? heal then with your incredible R. enemies trying to gank? knock them back with R or up with Q. ally about to die, shield them with your E.

Lulu giving boosts of power, you can easily overwhelm enemies. slow enemies with your Q. transform enemies into animals with your W or give bonus MS to your ally. shield your ally with your E or see where a enemy will go with it. enemy getting ganked or low on health, use your R and give them a large bonus amount of health and size (plus range) for 7 seconds. they can barely get away.

Nami need a gap closer, here's one right here. stun enemies with your Q. take health and give it with your W. give bonus damage to allies. enemies getting away? send out a mighty wave to slow them down. ally trying to catch a enemy? speed them up with just 1 spell. W or E, it doesn't matter which.

Nunu though great in jungles, he is better with a ally. weaken minions with his Q, or heal from taking a lot of damage. speed up MS and AS with his W. slow enemies MS and AS with his E. or slow multiple enemies with his R to allow your ally to get them all. all you need to do is weaken them.

Sona may not speak, but her actions are louder than any champion. she comes equipped with a great heal plus a shield for allies and herself. she can deal damage to enemies to weaken them. gives bonus MS to allies and slows enemies with her next basic attack. want to get enemies with little hassle? just use her R to stun them for 1.5 seconds.

Soraka is one who sacrifices herself for others. she shows this in her health sacrifice to give lots of health constantly to allies. don't worry though, her Q will give back health once it hits a enemy, or you can R it back while healing everyone else in the process. no matter how far they are. you are also one of the few allowed to have a silence that can snare.

TahmKench is our newest friends from the deep. he can slow or stun enemies with the flick of a tongue. need someone to carry you to safety or into the battle with no damage? he can carry you in his mouth and he'll take all the damage for you. or, under circumstances, he can carry a enemy to us. his e allows him to gain back half the health he once had, or more. and his R allows instant travel for him and a ally.

Taric want someone that can both heal and tank? Taric is the champion for you. heal yourself and allies. gain armor for bonus damage. each ability can be lowered by 2 seconds after a basic attack after using one ability. give armor to yourself and allies or take away armor from nearby enemies. stun them for up to 1.8 seconds. use your R to give up to 70 bonus AP and AD to nearby allies.

Thresh want someone that is a fair version of Blitzcrank? Well, there really isn't one but Thresh is close enough. stun enemies, as you pull them in for the next 1.5 seconds. slow them so they can't get away. shield allies and lead them to you with your lantern. gain the souls of the dead for bonus armor. want to slow multiple close enemies from getting away or to your ally, R them. the slow lasts long and weakens the enemy by a lot.

Zilean is the eldest and most knowledgeable of the support or champions in general. he gives boosts in EXP gain, so faster leveling. weaken and stun enemies with your Q. slow enemies down for long periods or speed up allies to get away or close in gaps. W yourself to allow a double of what your abilities could do. ally about to die, R them so they can revive and destroy once more.

which one's your favorite? mine is Taric. aside from being my first support, and right now, the most OP. he's a tank that can heal while going into the front lines.

i main Soraka Braum Janna and now TahmKench and used to main Taric and that's pretty accurate

Blitzcrank Morgana Zyra Nautilus Lux Karma

Rew7111 votes

Blitzcrank can easily be played anywhere and still win. He is by no means a pure support as his damaging abilities do not help secure kills for the ADC and can (sadly) take the kill. Blitzcrank is a tank, and will be able to help his teammates win lanes and is his strongest when with allies. His pull Q and knock up W are a good way to defeat enemies but I'd rather be Thresh to allow a more fair fight.

Morgana can once again be played in middle lane. Though her Q can snare enemies for long periods of time, it comes more in handy when being chased or chasing enemies.

Zyra is possibly easier when played as support but is also now usable in mid lane (if you use her correctly). With the AP boost and such, she is very powerful and can now poke better than most.

Nautilus is now once again played top and in the jungle. His damage is now better and his support is now compared to Braum and Tahm Kench.

Lux probably out matches Morgana when it comes to the support role, with easy snares and slows. But, her mid lane is still good, if you play her right.

Karma would possibly be my last choice for a support role in this... though she has a snare, its no match for Morgana's one shot snare. And, though her shield is good and can get better, the time for which she gives the bonus shield and MS should be lengthened to at least 5 seconds or more if possible. She's one of my favorite mid laners though.

I'm absolutely SICK of threads like these.

Vincent Lucius

Don't click on the threads. With a title like "Support, Do everything!" It's either someone complaining about a support or a support complaining about the state of the role. The answer is to not click on the title. If you click on the link and you're sick of these threads then it's completely on you for going into a thread that has an opinion you don't like knowing full well that that's what you're in for.

No one forced you to come here. So you may as well avoid these threads or learn to enjoy them/be neutral when you come to it and others like it.

That isn't the point. I'm tired of the adc shaming and the support victim-complex. The threads are just a symptom of a mindset that the community has that I hate. As someone that plays both, it's annoying seeing the stupidity that can come from both sides, yet only one gets the hate.

I don't see adcs lamenting their possibly bad supports all day. It's only the other way around. I don't see adcs posting about how they're expected to dive for squishies while not dying in team fights regardless of the situation. I'm tired of it.

Vincent Lucius

You haven't been looking hard enough, then. The favorite thing I've seen from ADC mains or even top and mid mains is that supports are just ride along players looking to get carried through their division. There was actually someone comparing supports to a morbidly obese man on an escalator.

We get it, not all ADC mains are dicks. I've actually seen threads talking about how much supports loved an ADC from their last match. If you don't like the bitching then ignore the threads. If you can't ignore them then I'm guessing you'll have a rough time because they'll most likely keep on coming.

Also, I'm not sure if you've ever had a really angry ADC, chances are you have if you play both, but they will rage, flame and threaten to AFK. Those are the ADCs being talked about. Not the guy who's silent through the game.

I had a support literally rage at me and leave me in bot lane, as well as an adc that told me to leave her in bot lane or she'd afk. Both of these examples got themselves killed even more. Somehow...we won both of those instances, but it definitely wasn't by virtue of those assholes.

It's just that everywhere I look in the community, it's usually adc hate and support bitching. Not many people think they should stand up for decent adcs, and it's frustrating seeing bad supports do crap like neglect vision and feed because they don't realize just how harmful their lack of skill/knowledge in the role is to the team.

I personally prefer tank top laners, to take care of one of your problems. I take Gnar, build Brutalizer for harass in lane, and then build Sunfire (and then continue on with building resistance to their damage), and, if I'm feeling nice, I build Sightstone for the extra HP.

Gwellaouen1 votes

I can only split push as Soraka support: R is Op. If I splitpush as a tank, I feel worthless: I should be in the center of my team protecting them.

But eh, I don't mind being a support. I love this role. I've been Thresh in one game this week: they dive my turret as I was low health. (not that much tough) I got a Double kill. Yep, things happened. ^^ Another time as Morgana, I stop two of the enemy team picking a Dragon. Another double kill. Ok, I've died to but so worthy. XD I love being support because I can find more ways to play, more ways to build depends on the opposite team composition.

P.S.: Sorry about mistakes, english not my first language.

I find it hard to split push as a support, but as Bard I did Steal Dragon once when the rest of my team couldn't get there fast enough. It was our teams first dragon and we got a quad kill off of it when my team caught up, We were losing that game but we ended up winning it was great.

Supp is important af in higher elo play.

In low elo play supp is a walking ward with some cc that feeds the enemy team kills every once in a while.

but overall support is a cc god with warding and ward clearing objectives. It is also important for the support to remind his/her noob team to upgrade their warding totems at level 9 and put a pink ward somewhere on the map. This saves lives.

Play Alistar in my opinion is the support with the best kit as a generalizer, the con of this is that you don't really excel at anything either you are average. You need a tank, he is naturally tanky with his R, you need a healer, get some mana or mana regen and you can roar for ages. Utilities items don't scale so bad with him because again he is tanky with his R so you can just initiate when it is up. adc in trouble headbut them away.
