I was auto-filled into supporting a Silver ADC. I dodged. Everyone lost 2-3 minutes of their time.

Why not just keep us all in queue until someone queued for support shows up?

We wait 30 more seconds in queue and a game actually starts, versus waiting 2+ minutes for me to dodge, then another 2+ minutes for the next game to start (assuming nobody dodged that one).

This system has been an abortion since day one and should have been improved long ago. Auto-filling after a couple of minutes in queue may make sense, but auto-filling after 40 seconds in queue just for the sake of trying to get a game started asap makes zero sense.

how would you know if you would have only needed to wait 30 more seconds? also... if everyone lost that much of their time that just means you waited till the very last second to dodge since they would have found a match pretty quickly after you dodging. People are not put into the back of the queue ladder if someone dodges, they are put in front of it

Why would anyone downvote this? It's facts!

You don't have to wait until it's your turn to pick and let the timer run out to dodge - you can just close your damn client. Everyone gets dumped back into queue and a few seconds later they'll be in champ select again.

Except I'm always going to wait until the game is about to start, to maximize the chance of someone else dodging and avoiding the penalty. I'm not sure what kind of idiotic response this is supposed to be.

It's the kind of response that says you're a dick to begin with and your going out of your way to be as much of a dick as possible to 9 other players sounds right up your alley, I guess.

You can estimate pretty well by just looking at where on the elo ladder you are at: https://am-a.akamaihd.net/image?f=https://news-a.akamaihd.net/public/images/articles/2016/june/DQU/graph-queuetime.jpg?v=1

If OP was queuing in low diamond, 30 seconds seems like a pretty fair guess.

Someone posted actual statistics of how the queue times changed with the addition of autofill just a couple of days ago. It was a tiny change. Downrating me because of truth is not really a thing that matters.

Yep. There is a "Fill" button for a reason. You could literally just ad /up to/ five buttons if it was really that important. But the idea that you are autofilled and most people troll or dodge when that happens is just another example of how Riot actually creates toxicity in their game.
