Junglers, I tend to be almost no HP by the time I cross from end to end. How can I keep my health up

Strawberrycocoa··2 votes·557 views

If I start Krugs and move from red to birds to wolves to blue to frog, I'm at dangerously low HP by the time finish blue, probably nearly died killing it. If I go the opposite route, toad to blue to wolves to birds to red to krugs, I'm almost Executed while killing red.

What's a tip to keep myself healthier in the jungle?

Thanks.

Try playing warwick.

Then you'll be like "oh."

Sustain Junglers.

Go Gromp/Blue/Wolves/Raptors, then back. Get Hunter's Pot and second jungle item, then go back to farming

If you are having trouble, try the following path:

Krugs (Smite), Raptors, Red Buff (Smite) -> Blue Buff, Wolves, Gromp.

Alternatively, take a Scuttle Crab at some point in your clear (generally, after you finish clearing one or both sides of the jungle).

If you have CC (i.e. Gragas E, Sejuani Q), time it for when the monsters are winding up their basic attack to reduce the damage you take.

You said that you played Malphite, Amumu and Sejuani below. Are you using Flat Armor Seals and Attack Speed Marks? If not, those should leave you far more healthy due to a faster clear.

Honestly, clearing shouldn't be too difficult. I generally get through my clears fine even using Scaling Health Seals and Scaling CDR Quints and Glyphs which means I have less early damage and durability than normal).

who are you playing?

It varies because I only queue for Jungle periodically, so I dunno who's "good". But my last jungle game was Malphite, I also like Sej and Amumu. I don't do a lot of squishy junglers.

All 3 of those have really weak first clears and need to take scuttles for the hp/xp

you need to take scuttle crab if you want a healthy first clear

You're just picking champs with bad first clears, it's just part of their weaknesses.

Even though a lot of those champions have bad first clears, let me tip my hand for you.

  1. Ward whatever bush you think will help you most to take scuttle before you take it the first time.

  2. Start blue. Starting gromp will often lead to you getting a smaller leash. To lose less health, say "leash blue to 300". Most pubbies will give you a decent-(ish) leash if you ask, and you can save smite to go directly to gromp. Gromp has a better bonus anyway. Then get your WARDED scuttle to heal back up for wolves.

  3. Let your health stay low if you're confident. If memory serves, monsters give heals based on missing health when they die. Regardless, 2 masteries in the defence tree, esp. the regen one, work better if you have low health. This is way stronger than it sounds.

  4. If you start red, start golems instead and take attack speed runes. It is very important that you don't waste time with the golem buff, you can clear everything with it. I recommend going golems, scuttle (warded), and running to red afterwards. Maybe even wait until golems will die to smite to make the buff last longer. Losing that buff before you're ready will end you.

  5. Don't be afraid of Hunter's Talisman.

Btw, attack speed jungling is in this season. Throwing in some AS runes never hurt anyone.

Take a break and get scuttle after clearing half your jungle.

For my first clear I usually take my first 2 camps -> scuttle -> the rest of the jungle.

Unless you have a LOT of AOE like Amumu, kill the small monsters first for any camp you don't smite.

Starting at Red Buff and smiting it helps early clear substantially if you're okay with sacrificing like 30 seconds of your usual Red Buff time.

Craaaaaaaaaaaaab. You can walk right to it after 2 camps, and it gives a loooooot of champions plenty of breathing room.

Depends on the champ honestly. Way I do it; if you use mana; gromp, blue, wolves. Either recall or get scuttle, then do the other side.

No mana, kruggs, raptors, red. This gives time for your smite CD to come back and heal the extra lost health when you smite red.

Some junglers you unfortunately have to clear half and back for your second item then finish your jungle. Or you can start blue go gromp > blue > red (smite for health) > raptors > wolves > back to gromp (it should be up). This will give you a decent clear and should leave you fairly healthy.

Although while it does depend on who you are playing. I find the best thing to do when I am playing a jungler with bad sustain in the jungle, is simply take the scuttle crab.

It gives a good amount of health when killed and I am assuming that you will have a DPS jungler, so you will get the lifesteal from masteries and the machete.

Typically as Kindred If I start top side,I go gromp-Blue-Wolves-Bot Scuttler then gank either bot or mid.

If you kyte properly, you get to that gankwith rougly 85% of max HP at lvl3, and bot laners are still down at level 2, so eazy ganks. Mid is trickier.

As Nautilus I do the exact same path and usually gank with nearly full HP.

But starting bot side Kindred is different, if I go krugs-red-raptors, I don't usually have enough mana to get a really nice gank off, so I usually go for blue, or scuttler if either one is marked by Wolf.

As Nautilus I just keep the same clear/gank path because of his stupid CC and low mana costs.
