What is hecarim exactly?

LatetotheRace··3 votes·1,093 views

Is he a tank? Because everyone build item 3078 then full tank. I mean, I think he's a tank? But then he can burst down squishies like a fighter... Not to mention you actually cannot stop him from doing so. I don't understand hecarim as a whole. He has a lot of easy gank potential due to his knockback and ult. So why is he allowed to hit like a truck too? Most tank junglers don't just come to gank and kill their opponant without help from the laner, so why can Hecarim?

Hecarim is a Diver. Others include Vi Renekton XinZhao Aatrox Camille Irelia Kled Pantheon MonkeyKing

Divers are characterized as being a Jack-Of-All-Trades. They're pretty tanky, but Juggernauts and Tanks are more durable. They have good mobility, but not nearly as much as an Assassin or Skirmisher. They have good damage, but not massive Assassin burst or endless Marksman dps.

Their mobility is also their namesake. Divers are characterized by an ability or abilities that allow them to 'Dive', like Hecarim's Ult, Renekton's Slice and Dice, or Pantheon's Aegis of Zeonia. This isn't as mobile as Assassin's dashes and blinks, but still lets them be mobile.

So if mobility is his namesake then let's actually take his damage down a notch. I don't care about his tankyness or engage, it's the damage that's the problem. If he kept his mobility (that's buggy as hell.) and his tankyness I'd be ok. But again, the damage is far too much.

Hecarim is more than pretty tanky, even with just the triforce. You don't even need as much tankyness when you're impossible to peel.

He does have as much mobility as an assassin.

About assasin damage, well assassins dont get to one shot with just base damages. Vi can build full lethality, static shiv, triforce and one shot. Camille can one shot too im sure(probably dont want armour pen though). Xin has assassin burst. Aatrox could oneshot but with low mobility and reliability. I also saw a thread about Hec building ad and oneshotting. `

Hecarim has everything, mobility, tankyness, huge base damages and triforce synergy. Even hard cc, hes no Nautilus or Alistar no but its a lot more than Mundo, Garen, Olaf. Theres no reason to pick any bruiser over Hecarim.

Anyone can one shot. Thresh can one shot. Doesn't mean you should build that way. Also, every Diver, when built, is just as tanky as Hecarim. Have you never faced a full-build, Triforce Irelia?

Also - Are you trying to tell me that Hecarim has more mobility than Zed or Katarina? Because that would be a lie. Fun fact - Movement Speed isn't mobility. Movement Speed is speed. Mobility is Lee Sin dashing about the fight, Kalista hopping just out of reach, or Yasuo dashing through every minion in the game. It's not Udyr running fast, or Skarner running fast, or Volibear running fast, or Zilean running fast, because those types of movement can still be outplayed and outrun through kiting. As is with Hecarim's E.

Now, I'm not at all saying Hecarim has bad mobility. He has great mobility. And the speed granted by his E makes him great at early ganks. But, as with most Divers, is teamfight presence is linked to a 'Diving' ability. For Hecarim, this is Onslaught of Shadows. For Renekton, this is Slice and Dice. For Nocturne, this is Paranoia.

Sorry but you're statement about not having the damage of an assassin is nonsense, especially considering you called xin a diver.

I have faced Irelia a lot unfortunately, I wouldn't ban her over Hec or others atm though. Hecarim does feel as tanky as a tank because Hecarim is impossible to peel. A juggernaut and most tanks will take a lot more damage than Hecarim before reaching someone.

No but he has a lot more mobility thanRengar Khazix for example , are they not assassins then?

Maybe if you play Ahri or someone else that mobile {{shudders}}...

Kha'Zix and Rengar have much more mobility, it's just more situational.

Hecarim has E and Ult for mobility. That's it. It's good mobility - his ultimate covers a lot of ground, and the speed from his E can let him catch people. But during his E, he's easily kitable with slows, stuns, and knockbacks. It's more difficult early game, but during teamfights his Ult is all he has to dive to a backline. His E has a 16 second cooldown at max rank, reduced to 12 if he has 40% cooldown reduction (Which Hecarim rarely does, he mostly has around 30). His ultimate has a 100 second CD at max rank.

Kha'Zix has more mobility on the same number of skills. He can cover the same amount of distance as Hecarim's ult with his Evolved E. It also resets, allowing him to chain the leaps together for massive mobility. It's compounded by his R, which grants invisibility, ignores unit collision, and grants movement speed. Evolved R also grants this benefit when he enters a bush. Besides the resets, his E has a 12 second cooldown at max rank, reduced to 7 with max CDR if my math is right. Ult is 80 second CD at max rank, and Evolved R has no inherent CD, just a CD per bush. All of that is much more mobility than Hecarim.

Rengar has less than Kha, but more than Hec. He leaps the same distance as Hecarim's ultimate either with his own ultimate or from a bush. Anytime he uses an Empowered ability, he gets a boost to movement speed. Combine it with his Empowered W in particular, and Rengar is much more difficult to peel. The short lunge on his Q, however short it is, is also mobility that he can use to strike people just out of reach. His passive has no cooldown, and neither does the boosted speed he gets for using an empowered ability. His ult has a 70 second CD at max rank. All of this combined is more mobility than Hecarim.

Hecarim isnt easy to kite! Anything thats dodgeable he should dodge with his movespeed. Even when you land cc to peel him he can catch up with his target straight after.

Kha zix doesnt zoom across the map when he isnt jumping.

Rengar resisting hard cc is pretty disgusting.

Actually, if it's just E, yeah, it is easy to kite. There's plenty of point-and-click slows in the game, Tanks have AoE slows and Randuin's Omen to slow, and there's a plethora of stuns, knockbacks, roots, knockups, and such to keep Hecarim at bay. It's the same logic that applies to kiting Udyr, Volibear, or Skarner.

Neither does Hecarim. Hecarim can't zoom across the map by spamming his E, he'll burn all of his mana and have to constantly back or constantly keep blue from his mid laner.

Also, no, it's not, Rengar is fine.

He's this magical thing called a diver where you are a tank but also an assassin with a lot of CC.

Just because he builds full tank doesn't mean he's a tank.

He seems more like a diving fighter, which needs to build tanky to survive but is all about engaging the enemy and dealing aoe damage.
