What Is Your Deserving Rank
We all heard complains that the ranking system sucks, unfair, BS, inaccurate, fraud, illegal, NEEDS IMPROVEMENT!
Now lets take a moment and think, "what should determine your rank?". It is known among hell-o players (get it? hell and elo, never mind) that in order to get a good rank YOU MUST WIN
More expert players know that it is partly true, there is more to it than that. Of course winning is a big part in your elo, but also it is highly relied on creep score, KDA ratio, dragon, damage dealt, warding (yes, AD carries need to ward too god dammit!), etc.
Alright sounds fair right? right, why did I even make this thread in the first place...I guess I'll just
away...
NO. WRONG.
Ranking is **NOT **what it should be. Lets go back to our main argument "what should determine your rank?". Well, for one thing certainly not playing
as a main every. single. match. Why? well, what does Rank represents? According to Riot, ranked represents your placement, where you belong. Here is my point about the Zed reference, is playing only Zed as a mid laner for your overall rank in the League of Justice be enough to get you to above those in gold? even silver? In order to be at the top you got to be an expert League player, rather than a master champion in the League. That saying master at one rather than good in many does not belong here. As a League player, you HAVE to accept the role you got and what is necessary to play as.
Before you complain about me complaining think about a bronze play he plays MANY different roles and is really good in all of them or a platinum who only plays some hybrid
jungle
every single match just because he sucks at one role or doesn't like it. Now is that what a top level player should be like? only being able to masterly play one role?
You may argue and say "It's about the teamoork you bronzie", that is right and brings me TO MY NEXT POINT!!!
*yeah that was a
pun intended, cause you know premade team communication against solos is hell just like Teemo? no?
**Rammus saying "ok" reference... I need a
cause you know, to steal my life away from League...
So we were saying team work, if you did godly and your team sucked then that will affect you (if you lost of course, otherwise "lel nubs i carie hrd git gud"). Communicating with team is hard when it's match making, but premades have an advantage which was a really great step that Rito took, and not. Premades of 5 is now a huge advantage for getting boosted, instead of just one buddy boosting/getting boosted. But that is not something Riot can easily fix and not the main idea of my argument, just a side note.
So, to sum up this thread topic (I hope you didn't just skip the entire thing to here). Ranking is not unfair or all the words above. But it DOES needs improvement, how players only play their best rather then be experts in the game. What do I recommend? well, my idea is change the Ranked prerequisites. Level 30 keep it, but instead of 16 champs needed make it two champs with mastery ranked 5 from each primary roll (or something similar because playing odd champions for different roles is a thing. ex.
is a mage but can be played as a jungler effectively). the point of this change is when you start ranking, you would be prepared for any role and not expecting to be
mid main with
slaughtering innocent opponents. The point of this requirement is to make sure players are capable to play any role when stepping into the rank hell and be prepared (Not saying got to be 2 champion for each role, just to send the idea) . "But the new match making system lets you pick your two roles of choice. Think before you make a thread you bronzie", alright enough with that bronzie joke (or is it?
) But in order to make sure players deserve their rank, is to make the drums
drums RMR SYSTEM!! Role Matching Ratio, basically the more balanced your roles in ranked games, the more your rank will increase, ex. 20% support: 5%
, 10%
, 5%
. 30% mid : 0.1%
, 19%
(god dammit Zed, back at it with the
). 15% AD Carry: 7%
, 5%
, 3%
. 15% Jungler: 10%
, 5%
. 20% Top: 15%
, 6%
, -1%
.
I hope this explains my idea better. if there are any confusions, leave it at the comments which I will never touch "It's a short joke chill >:(" -
. And of course never forget the other important aspects of ranking system KDA, CS, etc.
So here is my 2
, what do you guys think about the current ranking system and what do you think would do to improve it? DISCUSS!
EDIT: In order to make sure the player picks the champions they mastered, is to limit the champion pool to the mastered champions. "HUH CAUGHT YOU! now wouldn't that means that they'll use those champions forever?" Well yeah but at least they are able to play every single role. To be honest, I feel like two champions for each role is not enough. So to improve, maybe you need to master another champion every once in a certain time period. Can be a terrible idea, but it's really fresh so can always get improved.
