How did I get to silver V???

I don't usually play ranked but I decided to finally get my first 10 matches done to get my placement. I finally finished them yesterday, sounds casual BUT the weird thing is my score was 2 wins and 8 loses AND I STILL GOT SILVER V. I'm just wondering how I got it cause my friend got 5w and 5l but was bronze 3. Another one get 7 w and 3 l and also got silver. I got a decent score in all my matches, I did not feed neither got fed, mostly 5 kills and 4 losses and like 3 assists. My cs was also good, and I last hitted most turrents. So maybe it has something to do with that? Discuss. To y!!!!

if youve never played ranked you start with silver mmr. your wins were likely one of the first 2-3 matches which are more important than the latter ones. first time i ever played ranked i place bronze 1 fresh off level 30...i think i won 4?

Default MMR after ~5-5 Placements is Silver III.

Pretty sure the rank you'll be set in depends on your playstyle, not entirely on the number of wins in your provisional matches.

That's weird, because I got either 7 or 8 wins and also placed into Silver 5. One of my other friends got 2 wins 8 losses and got Silver 5, even though neither of us had done ranked before (unless you count my 3-year-old season 2 ranked history).

I really don't get the provisional system.

i finished with 5w and 5 l on my placement matches and got into Silver 4. I think it determines where you should go based on your MMR. also this is my first season in league and haven't played a moba since dota 1, which i was awful at.

At this point in the season they acknowledge that Bronze V is the dregs of the galaxy and give you an optimistic placement where you can climb or crash and burn from.

All depends on who you play against. Winning the first two means the MMR of your opponents increases fairly dramatically.
