Is the game more team-oriented now than it was before?

I feel like solo plays aren't as valuable as they were before. LoL is starting to remind me of HOTS, a MOBA that relies completely on teamwork.

One possible reason is that Riot has introduced lots of interactivity to their champions. (Taliyah ult, Ardent censor, Kled ult, Xayah and Rakkan combos, etc) I remember years ago, thresh was the most interactive champion on the rift because of his lantern.
