Wukong's Passive Is Outdated

It's a nice-ish passive, but lets be honest: its old and has little or nothing to do with his lore or personality.

First lets look at Wukong's mentor, Master Yi: Passive :- Double Strike: After landing 3 basic attacks, Master Yi's next one within 4 seconds strikes twice, dealing 50% AD bonus physical damage which applies on-hit effects and can Critical strike icon critically strike.

^ This makes sense because his weapon of choice is a sword and he is a master of his fighting style. See how the passive compliments the personality and background of the champion?

Now lets look at Wukong's passive: Passive :- Stone Skin Wukong gains 4 / 6 / 8 bonus armor and magic resistance for each visible nearby enemy champion.

.... What? Does seeing lots of enemies give him a hard-on? Is being surrounded by enemies his fetish?

I understand they're saying he's a thick-skinned primate, but he isn't. Gorillas are "stone-skinned," but Wukong is a monkey, they are NOT stone-skinned. (Source: Typing 'Gorilla' and then 'Monkey' into Google Images)

Plus there's so much more they could be doing with his passive. He's a monkey wielding an enchanted staff, maybe give him some monkey mobility or sustain?

When standing still, Wukong begins peeling a banana for 5 seconds. After that he heals and has increased movement speed for the next 5 seconds.

There is a lore reason, wukong is basically a living rune stone (he was created by one) and when he dies you can see him turn to stone.

You're right, I just saw his Race listed as "Living Runestone (In guise of Monkey) (Sentient)"

Now it makes more sense, but the passive is still vanilla. The lore says this stone gave the monkeys "vitality," they can reflect that with sustain or more useful bonuses. If they made the passive give bonus mr, ad, AND ad, I think it would be must better

Yea, they should def. update it, but i just wanted to make it clear why he has it.

He'll probably get a new one when they eventually do the diver update.

Diver update? Wats dis

The mini group updates they've been doing. They did juggernauts, ADCs, mages, and assassins. They're thinking of doing either divers or vanguards next; if they do divers then I think it would be mid-season and Wukong would undoubtedly be included.

Wukong is really cocky and arrogant and diving into several enemies gives him a rush and makes him stronger. It also suits his playstyle well. The name may not make too much sense but the gameplay sure does.

Then doesn't it make sense to give him offensive stats when surrounded by enemies, instead of defensive?

Not necessarily. Riot wants Wukong to build damage and dive into entire teams. Giving him a defensive passive makes that playstyle more viable.

and his passive fits lore wise

I'd go with some "blunt weapon" passive.

Like for example ignores x% armor.

But then we have his Q.. hmm Damn

Wukong was born from stone though. Also it works with his playstyle of jumping into enemy team.

I agree that the passive is a bit outdated, and a new passive that gave wukong a bit of sustain in lane or in jungle. I typically play wukong jungle, and his passive is only useful for the late game flank ult. Even still Wukong could use a passive that isnt so passive that it feels useless.
