This is the honor option I want and need

I see no reason for it.

If you can't see a reason for honoring people who carry your games, then you don't carry much :)

I see no reason for promoting a single carry style in a game that's being pushed towards team effort.

Who carries more? The Jinx who got all the kills or the Braum that kept everyone off of her?

Maximum Morde44 votes

Trick question. It was actually the inting Nunu on the enemy team that carried.

Yes except this view only rewards high af KDA scores, not teamwork.

I think he means like an extra honor option like teamwork or helpful.

Yes but the term carried generally is used as an "I'm better than you" ego booster... Don't think that would work out.

WoonStruck2 votes

Most of the people that carry a lot already know they carry a lot and are already over it.

I know I feel that way. Its nice to know that people are often impressed by me, especially since I play a bad champ, but tbh I feel like I'm playing against less skilled players most of the time and I'm just winning due to that discrepancy, which is anything but an ego booster for anyone that's sane.

I like it more when I don't win hard because there are many more experiences you can learn from that way.

because pushing the game in an even MORE team effort style is a bad idea. i think following CS:GO's model is better, where yes grouping and working with your team is a good idea but if you're just that good you can individually just destroy everyone else on the enemy team. The game should not degrade into me babysitting the people who are worse than me on my team. or my teammates baby sitting me because i'm not good enough.

Ralanr3 votes

But then we have people who keep thinking that they are "the one" and get pissy when their 1v5 engages don't work in their favor.

We don't need to promote that.

Off Meta Evan1 votes

you're always going to have those people in a team game regaurdless, at the very least you should be allowed to not be strapped in with them on the sinking ship when the Vayne tumbles right next to the Sejuani Lissandra. team play FORCES you to actually work with people like that. a focus on more individual play means you aren't completely fucked. its not a matter of what it promotes cause you're ALWAYS going to have the stupid person that can't cooperate with a team, you're ALWAYS going to have teams that just flame each other into the ground. its simply a matter of how much are you going to have to work with them.

Ralanr2 votes

Guess that's the downside of a team game.

agreed.

Its not an awful idea but tbh the entire honor system needs a full rework, so I don't see much point in updating it.

You choose to be friendly. You choose to work with your team. You choose to be helpful. You choose to be sportsmanlike as an opponent.

At its heart, the honor system is about encouraging consistent, positive behavior that people can opt into. It's about making the community a better place.

You do not choose to carry.

BigBellBrute7 votes

Honor is for behavior, not gameplay.

Carrying a game is a nice feeling but having an honour system where it show that you 'carried the game' would just make you seem like a show-off..... oh wait

Isn't that what Teamwork is for?

ValyrianBlade3 votes

I'd rather it be simplified to "was a good player".

I currently give teamwork to anyone I think played really well. However that really doesn't mean the same thing. And players don't always think of it that way.

If there was an honor for "played well" I think people may give it a little more often. It often gets frustrating when you play an exceptional game and carry, chat with teammates politely all game, "gj" and "wp" consistently, honor the whole team because you had a great time, leave the lobby and see nothing. Like, if I wasn't honor-worthy that game when am I ever? The answer in short is that probably 80-90% of players never honor.

RisenDarkKnight3 votes

Carrying a game is not honorable, it's just playing to win/doing well. You get rewarded by wins and therefore MMR and (if in ranked) LP.

Someone can be a total jerk while carrying a game, the honor system is to recognize people who are good sports and teammates, not good players. Good players should win enough games to rise to the appropriate MMR quickly.

Langhof3 votes

I think a better option would be after game, both teams could honor or nominate a teammate as "mvp." Make it a majority vote, and whoever gets the majority vote will get a token/shard/etc. After collecting say, 100-200 shards, fuse and create a special border showing that you are often voted as mvp by your peers. It's abusable I guess, but so are the rest of the honors in game tbh.

Pandemic Punch3 votes

This is a good idea. This would possibly motivate some people to be less toxic to win the MVP vote too. Especially if they find that the reward is valuable.

Langhof3 votes

That's very true. And I actually just thought of this, but you could limit this reward to solo que or to players who que solo/duo, that way you don't have premades in flex or normal draft abusing the system and just giving each other votes. I think we're onto something

Pacattack252 votes

Unfortunately this would be WAY to easily taken by smurfs (Because they happen to be able to carry games...)

Solitair2 votes

Carry doesn't exist except in smurfing accounts.

Even if all you need are halfway decent team-mates to follow up on your plays and respond to your ganks correctly, that's still them doing their part in achieving victory. If your teammates are setting up vision, peeling, aware of the map, taking up the enemy junglers/roaming laners time without giving them something worthwhile to show for it, pressuring the map, keeping opponents busy while you take objectives, responding in timely manners to good baron calls, etc... You are not solo carrying. You can't win on just your own "carry potential" alone unless you completely outclass your opponents and your own team mates(aka. smurf). Victory goes to the team that performed the best overall. Not to the team with one good player who "carried".

Kynami1 votes

In most instances yes... but then there are those games like some One-for-all or nemesis matches where somebody is given their main and nobody else on the team has anywhere near the same hard-earned game knowledge about said character in the match. There really are some cases where somebody is going to go hard carry mode for the rotating game modes.

But agreed that this doesn't belong as a part of the honor system. If you truly went above an beyond it should already be covered by teamwork and honorable enemy if anyone even cares to give them out.

ZmIkSa2 votes

They should better make "CALMED" option to be given for a player who is getting flamed hard but doesn`t flame back.

xxxDogmanxxx2 votes

"I would get this so often, but my noob teammates suck too hard to carry!" -every player stuck in Bronze.

GrReaper961 votes

Pretty much close to teamwork. If they carried the game they sure as hell are either challenger smurfs or had great teamwork

AcidTheWarlock1 votes

I would appreciate that if it was hard to abuse.

I got super stressed this morning cuz I had to carry, then won and realized I was fighting an almost Plat player in my scrublord bronze trash normal elo.
