someone just suggested that rengar's E is "hard CC"
did rengar's E change or did the definition of "hard CC" change
did rengar's E change or did the definition of "hard CC" change
This entire post is irrelevant. If it is hard CC or not is entirely dependent on what you are talking about. If it is ability casting, it is not hard CC. If it is movement commands, it is hard CC.
Don't feed the troll.

Rengars empowered E is still considered Soft CC
Whats the reason behind that?
Whats the reason behind that?
well for one you can still attack while snared and use defensive abilities... or peel for yourself.
"Hard CC is anything that prevents the target from moving or attacking. Rooting, binding, stunning are all different types of Hard CC. Soft CC is anything that hinders the ability to move or attack, but does not prevent the target from doing so. Slows, silences and cripples are all different types of Soft CC"-http://forums.euw.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=2069282

I can't seem to find a sentence that says the difference between hard CC and soft CC.

ctrl + F then type in "Categorization"
see my updated comment.
oh lord it literally has a multitude of definitions.
oh lord it literally has a multitude of definitions.
"now" it has a multitude.
nope i found it and its definition is self defeating removing the ability to fight (removing its ability to move) would classify it as hard CC

: Mmm hmm... hows that workin out for ya?
: Mmm hmm... hows that workin out for ya?
I'll tell you in a little bit babe
Well technically its both.. in terms of movement, yes its hard CC, however you can still cast and attack, so in terms of control its soft. So neither are wrong or 100% correct. Just depends.
i guess that makes sense.
Its the troll guy again! do you know how rengars kit works? If he has 5 stacks of ferocity his E turns into a snare! amazing!
A snare is hard CC now?
yeah... unless the definition of hard CC is just a knockup or a stun now.
yeah... unless the definition of hard CC is just a knockup or a stun now.
silence counts technically, last I checked. So does suppression
not root or snare

''Silence counts technically''
Well Silence an adc wont make a single different as opposed to silence on an AP caster.
So the definition of ''hard cc'' is different, i woudnt say root or silence is a hard cc. Thats stuns n knockups
a snare is hard CC for "movement", but not "action"
hard CC is defined as anything that stopsmovement, attacking, or spell casting. His (empowered) E stops movement entirely. It is hard CC. this guy is apparently a troll.
To facilitate easier communications, crowd controls are usually described under one of the following systems:
Loss of Control - Crowd controls are grouped into one of two categories depending on whether or not the effect removes total control of the player's character. Hard CC completely removes all control of a character, while soft CC only partially removes it.
Hard CC Airborne Forced Action Stasis Stun Suppression Suspension
Soft CC Blind Disarm Root/Snare Silence Slow
Disruption - Crowd controls are grouped into one of two categories depending on whether or not the effect disrupts a channeled ability (such as Karthus Karthus's Requiem.png Requiem and Katarina Katarina's Death Lotus.png Death Lotus). Hard CC will disrupt channels, while soft CC will not.
Hard CC Airborne Forced Action Silence Stun Suppression Suspension
Soft CC Blind Disarm Root/Snare Slow
Movement - Crowd controls are grouped into one of two categories depending on whether or not they restrict movement. Hard CCs prevent all forms of movement, while soft CCs do not.
Hard CC Airborne Forced Action Root/Snare Stasis Stun Suppression Suspension
Soft CC Blind Disarm Silence Slow
Modifiers - Crowd controls are categorized by what their effects inhibit. Movement modifiers in some way inhibit the ability to move, while action modifiers in some way inhibit the ability to attack or cast abilities.
Movement Modifiers Airborne Entangle Forced Action Root/Snare Slow Stun Suppression Suspension
Action Modifiers Airborne Blind Disarm Forced Action Silence Stun Suppression Suspension

TL:DR its both, depending on which u are talking about.
I like the definition used earlier you have 3 ways of attacking movement, auto attacks, and spells. if CC completely shuts down one of these then it is considered hard CC. doesn't matter tho, OP is a troll baiting people into insulting them and reporting them on his alt accounts. Ask @lostfrost about him

yeah it is... Its the overarching statement that then branches off into more specific types.
so what's with the downvotes? Did I ask my question the wrong way?
It appears you have a fame for being a troll. Doesn't surprise me.
A snare isnt hard CC. It is definitely soft CC but leave it to boards to be ignorant of that too. We have a guy quoting an EUW post by a random as proof and then he calls you a troll. Holy shit.
"hard cc" is not well defined.
Some people say silence is hard cc because it disables the important parts of a champion's kit making them effectively helpless Some people say roots are hard cc because they completely stop all movement
I see a couple people in this thread referring to Rengar's empowered bola as a "snare" which is also not a very well-defined term. Snare has traditionally actually meant a powerful slow but many players use it to mean something that completely stops movement. The less ambiguous term is "root".
Most common definition of hard CC is that it interrupts channels, and so ebola strike doesn't count.
However, there is second definition, and actually it's used by wiki, that says hard cc is one that prevents all forms of movement, and so ebola strike counts.
