Opinions of the ARAM Changes.

I'm almost positive no one reads these but here goes anyways.

Overall I am positive with these changes with some things here and there still getting to me.

  1. I love having Bans. I read the ARAM Feedback a lot and I hear a crap ton of "Boo Hoo my toxic champ I like that I barely get/or always get because I'm on an ARAM account gets auto banned!" No moral or Logical reason. I just like having Veigar/Lux auto banned. It keeps my sanity in check. Yeah people say its "All Random" but I think giving that up for the betterment of the player base who don't wanna punch a whole through their computer is a nice tossup for Riot getting Bmed by the people who already give them shit. you know who you are...

  2. No one is using Mariners Vengeance properly. I can't particularly tell if it's the items fault or most of the player base has the intelligence of a gopher. I get what its supposed to do but it never feels threatening due to the fact that getting randomly poked to death from a distance makes the item feel no where near being called a "Counter-Part" to a Guardian's angel. Maybe have it only proc when you're nearby a champion/or being an active because as is I have seen too many Melee dudes "Think" about walking in then panic as they now have a death timer and are no where near a champ to throw hands at.

  3. Dealing more damage to Towers is the Worst. I discussed this with my friends when the ARAM changes were announced and we agreed that this would be the single worst change added. And we were right. If you play a lot of ARAM tell me if this ever feels familiar to you BEFORE the changes. Its around 8 minutes your going back and forth. People are dying back and forth, towers are getting chipped at. Suddenly, you're team gets aced and you lose 2 towers and an Inhibitor and you're now trying to rebound as your left confused thinking "wait were we losing this hard a minute ago?". I get it, You want games to end faster but this feels a little heavy handed as along with minion changes the games get REALLY hard to rebound from.

  4. The assassin changes. I'm not going to yell at you riot. Its not perfect but ya did well. Not every Assassin is playable(My girl eve is struggling) but it no longer feels like a loss with one on the team as with Ghostwalkers they can do there damn job of getting to the back line.

  5. Backtrack. Was gonna bring it up on the Assassin section but... Nah. I love this summoner, Its barrier but better. I used it on AP Shyv and Had a blast jumping in murdering someone and poofing back. Its great for Melee and Assassin's alike.

Final thoughts and Opinions. Overall I like the idea of what's happening here. Shortening the gap between the top and bottom. The only thing I'd like to be adjusted is the Minion speed and Damage to towers.

Its something extra and I don't expect it to be changed because I understand why but. Multiple tanks on a team is actually the worst.

  • Bans were a great addition indeed, there are some picks I would like not to have either in my or the enemy team.

  • Ranged and Melee Balance has been brought too far in favor of melee imo, while ofc having a team with a lot of ranged poke is frustrating, but what really becomes unwinnable is when there are 2-3 tanks in the enmy team, plus there are picks like MasterYi Singed and Pyke that simply cannot be countered if there is a decent player behind them. Not to mention that the new melee-only items are making Assassins and ADCs unbearable and the boots allow for a lot of unfair sneaky plays.

  • More damage to towers is just wrong and exacerbates the previous issue with tanks and ADs in general.

  • Backtrack is really good and allows some good plays.

We have bans on ARAM now? Huh. Time to go back to the game, i guess.

you know what pisses me about those ridiculous aram changes and why they all suck and should be reverted? It used to be a mage arena, first reason why most aram players cannot play summoner's rift. Now it has turned into a tank-adc fuckfest like in SR. In appearance, those changes seems good, but they overpowered adc and tanks too much like they did in SR. It would have been better not to touch anything. I already miss old balance aram, caus you didnt get k-o by any single assassin while playing a mage.

You pretty much summed it up here. It was a great patch overall.

Pretty much it. I just wish they did not make the quests, so many bad Aram players now.

Totally agreed on the towers, but the minions I am okay with.

I do not agree with the bans at all for ARAM. It might make sense if you know who you will have already and so are countering, but since there is not I think there are better ways to address the problem than removing peoples' choices.

Riot has never tried to really balance ARAM, (not that they have even managed that for SR) but I think just nerfing and buffing over time can be a much healthier answer than just blind bans that are a coverup not a true fix.

Bans = awesome.

Range nerf = horrible.

Especially when tanks were left untouched and melee receives new items.

There also needs to be a shield reduction item, or just a flat out nerf since apparently it's ok to do it with poke.

Minion speed is the best part. I think we're not getting enough gold towards the end but that might be due to assist gold not giving us very much for helping take enemies down.

I (used to) play a lot of ARAM and if the other people on my team are all poke and I'm the only tank, I'll play the tank and usually do quite well with it. That said, Lux is my main on SR and sometimes when I'm working from home, I will queue for an ARAM and hope that I get Lux and if I don't I will dodge and keep working. I have been playing since 2013 and I own 78 champions. I will admit that maining Lux on SR has made me biased towards mages, and I own almost all the mages in the game. I play my fair share of tanks on ARAM and I actually really enjoy it (if my team is competent...). Adding bans to ARAM though means that everyone will just ban the ranged character that they hate the most and the end result is just anti-fun.

I can see why someone would argue in favor of these changes, but at the same time, they've nerfed fun out of the game to appease cry babies. I know how awful it is playing against broken comps, but I mean if you are getting stomped, the game is usually over in no more than 15 minutes and you just requeue. This is a classic example of removing fun from a game to appeal to people who cry when they get ruined by something. I'm a big fan of Sona on ARAM and I have a discount for Odyssey Sona in my shop. Now that she is banned constantly on ARAM I don't see why I would purchase it. When champions are assigned and I get some stupid champion while seeing that Xerath, Ziggs, Fiddle, Sona, Lux, Teemo, Blitz, etc have been banned I just close the game and play something else. This seems like a shitty change. I really hope that it doesn't stay.

I can't express my frustration over the new changes. Started by giving me free to play characters 70% out of my random picks and now they ban a good handful of the characters that are most fun to play. ARAM is all I've been playing for the past years, but I guess all good must come to an end.

I shall disagree with one thing. Eve never struggled in aram. :/ pretty easy to W> snowball > destroy someone and R back to safety. i always specifically built 30-40% cdr on eve just to engage and R to safety while dealing tons of damage :^)

I agree with you for everything except mariners. Feels pretty good when it works well, and it has this downside where it can be wasted which feels awful. Such a powerful effect should have a large downside. Champions like illaoi are nuts with this item, whether poke can pop it or not.

I think if you wanna say the downside should be cut back, the powerful upside should also be cut back.

I find most of the changes great, I have to disagree on Mariners GA and Eve being weak (my previuos post)

You should see a decent pyke with it, it's scary. Thank Hades he was on my team, would get a triple after dying. You just can't drown the man quick enough.

Actually thought it would be scary on things like rageblade vayne but it's not a large mistake like I thought it would.

I hate backtrack. Not because it's bad but because it's replacing barrier. Some champions are better with barrier and orher with backtrack. Give us both please [sg-soraka]

Also some champions got too nerfed. I went from loving when I got some champions to wanting to dodge when I get them

Some tanks got too dam tanky. We went from pokier team win to tankier teak wins. They should have gone easier witj the buffs and the nerfs
