Riot is keeping the current rune page system just so they won't have to refund rune pages.

But what about rune pages, you ask? The plan is for your rune pages to carry over into the new runes system, so prices on rune pages aren't being changed and they won't be refunded. The difference is you'll be able to edit them in champ select.

fucking lmao

This is actually pretty bad. Rune pages are the most expensive, yet less satisfying thing to buy in the shop. And it's mandatory to have them. Now that they are fleshing out such a complex system with more options, inevitably more rune pages will be required.

Example: I have 19 different mastery pages (and for good reasons), while 7 rune pages suffice. Since this system will be closer to keystone's rather than stat advantages, I assume I will be forced to buy lots of pages.

Rune pages lost completely it's value and turned into complete shenanigans.

You can change runes during the champion select now, so there is absolute no value to have more than 1 rune page.

The entire goal of having a rune page was the fact you could not change it anyway.

If they do that to not refund our rune pages shit will get real.

hah what bullshit.

''but you do make 20 mastery pages'' yeah because it's free, if mastery pages also costed IP I would just have 1 mastery page and change that every champion select

DeadUnborn7/21/2017, 3:32:42 PM21 votes

No, they are keeping it because it is a profitable system that limits influx of IP for newer players which promps them to by RP to get champions or rune pages. Ghost Crawler said so himself

I think what's goofy is that I don't see most people buying more than one page, if any pages.

If you can edit it in champ select most people are just going to use their one page. Like pay 6300 to avoid a minor inconvenience in setting up your runes every game or don't pay it and instead buy a new champ. The ultimate in late-game IP sinks.

Bullshit!!!

Blakiepug7/21/2017, 2:08:37 PM7 votes

Darn it, they are expensive af too. I thought they would make it work the way mastery pages work since the whole original goal of this project seemed to be "let's not give players with more ip an advantage."

Rune pages are the new IP sink

Sebbo7/21/2017, 4:21:19 PM6 votes

I bought all of my rune pages with ip since I bought all champions (also with ip), and I like having multiple pages as I fiddle with them for a specific champion, which I won't be playing for a while and otherwise would forget that perfect combination of runes/keystones. But I can also understand the frustration people feel when they think about all their empty rune pages with the Runes Reforged update, as you truly don't need as much when you can freely edit them in champ select. All in all I find the change fair though, because as that rioter mentioned it is purely convenience now to buy more rune pages which makes the additional cost reasonable.

On the matter of fairness if rune pages weren't to be refunded, there is one important point people are forgetting: People say they wouldn't have bought additional rune pages if they knew they would be freely editable, but at the the time they purchased them, they WEREN'T. People bought them for a specific purpose (having competitive advantage/equality with preset runes to adapt their playstyle), that purpose will be gone, but during all the years the additional pages served their purpose well. You wouldn't try to refund your 10 year old car which runs on gasoline for the full price either, just because there is no gas left and everone is driving electric cars.

i dont want their to be only one rune page i want to have as many as i want. But if runes are free the rune pages should be free with them IMO wish they gave back the IP you used to buy them.

My Magnum Dong7/22/2017, 3:20:19 AM5 votes

So they're keeping them to be an IP sink but letting us change them in champ select defeating the point?

Legacy Hydralpha7/21/2017, 12:07:27 PM5 votes

This is a pretty bad choice. It's good to have the rune pages set up beforehand so you don't have to change them every game, but you can change them every game. Rune pages are still there, but significantly less useful.

We Hate It When People Call Us Greedy

Leonerdo7/21/2017, 9:47:34 PM4 votes

Seriously? Can't you just be happy that you'll be able to edit rune pages in champ select now? i.e. you technically don't need to buy extra rune pages anymore. And you already got your money's worth (IP's worth?) for the rune pages in the past.

Riot is not being greedy here; they aren't stealing your money or anything. You paid for rune pages in the past, you got use out of those rune pages as intended, and now the rune pages that you own are becoming more flexible. Where's the cash-grab in that?

Quit begging for more free stuff in an already free game, that gives you a free way to get their only major cash-shop items (i.e. hextech crafting gives free skins).

https://twitter.com/OccupyGStreet/status/888131839839289346 << Do you think Riot is just straight-up lying about this?

MonkeyMadness7/22/2017, 7:47:17 AM3 votes

The difference is you'll be able to edit them in champ select.

So what you're saying is that the Rune Pages I bought with RP were a 100% waste of money. Kewl. TY rito. Great business model you have here, plz make some more fizz and teemo skins, they don't have enough.

Bârd7/22/2017, 4:02:42 AM2 votes

What's the point of having more than one if you can just edit them whenever you need to?

BLACK REALM GOD7/22/2017, 8:10:46 PM2 votes

even if that's the case i dont blame them. i wouldnt want to have to refund old outdated content either. one day league is going to shut down and all of your accounts will become invalid. do you expect a refund for that as well?

just be glad they're not charging you for the updated content.

Ehh, but they are only for convenience now. It's better to adjust the masteries for every game anyways so if you just do that you could do with 1 page. With the current rune system it's not about convenience, it's just straight up an advantage to have multiple rune pages.

I like the changes and I am fine with the way Riot approached this although my rune pages are now useless as I have always adjusted masteries for every game.
