Why be afraid of ezreal? Ryze would be the real fucker to worry about. He makes full use of the mana and cdr, and now everything he shoots out slows. Frosty machine-gun Ryze. Whoooooo...

Lol, I rylai is alrdy strong on rye, just try it

I remember the time Ezreal could abuse double boots.

Ezreal item 1001 item 1001 = gg ez.

I'll be upset if Ezreal has anything to do with Rylai's next season. Ezreal is already on my hate list because he's a coward, but Rylai's would be the cherry on top of the coward's ice cream.

Miraweave1 votes

But the question is will it be a noob trap on Singed, just like every other item in league?

He was actually played midlane, and it was admittedly kind of disgusting if you let it get to late game. However, anyone who actually knew how to play midlane would pretty much shit on him and make him completely irrelevant.

i only liked it cause it gave many things for ap ez early. purple smite was wave clear and rune glaive was a cdr + sheen and mana item all in one. so you didnt need morello lichbane and it was only like 2200g item at that. it made his Q magic damage only an proced rylais/ludens.

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

he wont because his Q doesn't apply spell effects as of the last nerf when he abused runeglaive

SiG DxD1 votes

and he doesnt even need a map to do it

Is Ezreal not a broken/toxic champion for his constant abuse of on-hit effects? Actual question here, many champions who've abused items in numerous ways have been called op, toxic, or broken before, but I rarely see that about Ezreal even though his Iceborn interaction is probably one of the most toxic things a melee champ can deal with outside of Rylai's Cass.

Maligaro Spike1 votes

still better than kalista's permajump

Anidan1 votes

Depending on who you ask just about anyone in the game is toxic/broken. That's a pretty meaningless metric.

Theiki Kayle2 votes

Orianna is broken, she has spammable shields, slows and speedups from range and a displacement AoE ult, all tied with high damage.

(seriously, I've never seen ANYONE call Orianna broken, whenever I see her fed everyone seems to respect her as some kind of god who outplays everybody)

TeCoolMage1 votes

Anivia does the exact same thing minus the shields and speedups yet everyone always complains when they don't build maw and get two or three shot

Theiki Kayle2 votes

Maybe it's because her E is point and click? But I've never seen anybody complain about Anivia's burst, they always seem to expect it. It's the passive that always gets the flak.

DKM Bismarck1 votes

I honestly consider Orianna a safer and more obnoxious Anivia because she gets flat resistances when she levels her shield, has vastly stronger autos, a higher base hp pool and is safer in every single conceivable way, whilst only doing a bit less damage, because Orianna's damage hasn't been touched (barring her autos) since the cold war, her damage has actually power crept so disgustingly that it hurts. The only thing missing is Orianna doesn't have a stun/slow hybrid in her base skills, it's just a slow, but her W does more damage than Anivia Q, it's just the followup E that makes it seem like such harsh damage, yet Ori Q W AA competes with Anivia's QEAA combo in damage.

The reason Orianna gets respect is because executing her playstyle correctly is very, very difficult. It's the same with Anivia as well, but Anivia wasn't a damn near constant for years. She randomly popped up again at the end of S5 after not really being played much for... Ages. Not many people had an idea of how to deal with her, and many still do not. Also, one of her skills is point and click so yes, that is an easy-to-target reason to call her broken etc etc, when the reality of it is the setup to make her E do respectable damage presix is hard. Go ahead, try hitting her Q on someone who is competent, it's not as easy as it seems (none of this is coming from an Anivia main, I main Talon and I have no bias in this as both these matchups are absolute hell after his nerfs earlier this year.)

Theiki Kayle1 votes

Hm, thanks for the analysis. I guess it makes sense. And yes, Anivia's Q is hard but it's a single skillshot. Orianna not only has to land her skillshots, she also has to land them in a way that lets her keep track of the ball and be ready to move it at a moment's notice to adapt to her enemy's movements.

Generally, I've found that playing with the ball is very intensive (and I'm not an Orianna or Anivia main either).

And how do you play Talon? It seems his lane pre-6 is even more of an uphill battle than Diana's or Akali's is.

DKM Bismarck1 votes

Been a Talon main for 3 and a half years. I got used to the awful pre-6. I rake back line minions and try to poke at the same time as landing the cs. I generally auto front line minions with the exception of the first wave. How first waves work now have made it so that the minions all clash in a way in which all the front line minions will be low at the same time so you can rake all 3 for the first 3 cs of the game. It's super handy because level 1 when it's so even, mages will always auto you when you go for those melee minions.

Orianna ball movement is very intensive. That's most of the reason she gets respect, it however doesn't diminish that she is actually a fairly overbearing champion almost all the time and often dictates / warps a meta.

Theiki Kayle1 votes

It's true that she kinda warps the meta because she has never been lower than top tier (she might be low-priority to pick/ban, but she always holds her spot and will always be picked by pro teams).

DKM Bismarck1 votes

Yeah, a consistent champion is never a bad thing but it's always gonna be a frustrating one.

Apollocliptic1 votes

I used to main Orianna until I discovered Anivia. Just wanted to note that the double proc on Anivia's Q makes the damage the same as empowered E, and both got nerfed this year, the E twice. Anivia's damage is probably higher pre-6, but Orianna has much lower CD's, so her damage is more consistent, and her ulti provides that massive burst. Both are mana hungry, Anivia has more utility, DPS with Ulti, but Orianna can land multiple Q's to easily keep up with Anivia's ulti, and reposition easily too.

I personally prefer Anivia because I like to play utility and control, and her Wall is a massive strength that often gets overlooked, and her damaged is worked around it because of the number of plays you can do. While Orianna can hook up an ally and make those big plays and life saves, but I don't know, I just fell out of love with Orianna after years of bad junglers and getting one shot by assassins (Talon used to be an annoying one).

But I do believe with all the item changes, Orianna has slowly been getting stronger without anyone noticing, so I might pick her up again as an alternate pick to my current mains.

As someone that used to play Orianna and currently plays Ivern, keeping track of the balls position was never hard, it was just fun. Anivia's Q W combo is HARD, trying to use the wall to "reposition" the enemy to stop them dodging it requires such precision, and also taking into account other terrain to limit their escape routes and maximise your combo. But without the burst and with no mobility she becomes defenceless and most just charge at her from that point. They keep nerfing Anivia's solo trading because in high elo, her teamfight power is so abusive. But the two champs both fit into a similar niche, and it's weird that Orianna has gone unnoticed for so long, they both have similar difficulty and act as utility control mages, except ori's damage is more reliable :/

DKM Bismarck1 votes

Orianna provides more utility for sure. Slow, shield, displacement that pulls people inwards, speed up for allies who walk over W. She is riddled with utility on top of having lower CD's. Anivia provides more damage and more HARD cc and situational disruption (her wall). Anivia provides more DPS and comparable burst, but is a lesser teamwide threat than Orianna, and more of a single target threat than Orianna. Orianna does comparable DPS only if she consistently lands Q's. Orianna also has an easier time moving around fights and surviving (shield, speed up). Anivia is totally vulnerable if she moves out of position for a second and assassins can mop the floor with her, I find her easier to cope with than Orianna as assassins. Anivia certainly provides more zone control, still has less utility though. Anivia wall is a huge strength if used right indeed.

Orianna is once again a top tier mid laner. If you enjoyed her once I do advise picking her back up. ^w^ Your insight was valuable to me as I don't really play mages very much and this has helped me understand both champions better. <3

Apollocliptic1 votes

Thanks ^^ I like your breakdown and I think I should return to my original mage :D I think I will always play anivia when hard pressed, but it's nice to have something different and more... independent, especially for SoloQ

I used to love playing Orianna almost like a lulu, supporting and peeling for allies AND yourself (Anivia kind of has to choose) while simultaneously dropping damage. Will definitely try her out again

But W, E and R do. If you're good with hitting Q, you can pretty easily keep someone slowed with W. It's just not as effective as IBG kiting on Q.
