Manaless Champs

I feel like they can't build a lot of items or it is not efficient to build certain items. I would love to be able to build Trinity or Frozen Heart on Rek'Sai without thinking 1/3 or 1/2 of the item is going to waste. The passive of Frozen Heart is amazing, but I hate building it on Rek'Sai because it just doesn't feel that rewarding. Anybody else feel the same about this, or do you just build it for the passive anyway? Thoughts, please.

That's the price you pay for playing a resourceless champion; less optimal itemization. It's an under-appreciated lever of balance

But no hindrance other than cooldowns. This isn't a whine thread about wanting something done about manaless champs wasting portion of an item, I just wondered if people still found it viable to build certain items even though they do not directly benefit from the entirety of the item. I still build Trinity on Rek'Sai sometimes, and even Frozen Heart if needed. This was just a random thought I had and decided to ask the people.

I didn't mean that in a bad, or rude way. I'm just saying the it is something manaless champions need to deal with. I personally never build tri force on Rek'sai, and instead opt for a heavy bruiser type build with a hydra and cleaver (cleaver's new ms passive is great on rek). After those two damage items I go tanky; normally with a spirit visage and randuins omen. If I'm ahead and don't need the tank stats I build a zepher (however you spell that itme's name). As for jungle item; challenging smite devourer is what I find works best. Your aa's hurt less in the beginning but it helps you scale really well.

Rek'Sai is my main, and I usually go Cinderhulk then into a Hydra. From Hydra, I build pure tank depending on how the game is going. I was building Trinity for a long time because everything (other than the mana) is pretty beneficial for Rek. The movement speed, crit, AS, and health are all very beneficial. Since she has a steroid built into her R, I figured I wouldn't need as much AS. But after building a couple times, I started to wonder if I was wasting gold on buying it every game and just wanted to hear what other people thought of buying items on manaless champs.

That is kind of the point thought. If they had just as good of an item, but it gave health or something instead of mana, manaless champions would benifit way too much. It is part of the balance of the game. I agree sometimes it feels like there is only a small subset of items you can build on manaless champions, but I feel like it is someone balanced right now.

This is true, and there are still benefits to building these items in certain situations, but I just die a little inside when I need to buy something with mana on my Rek'Sai haha.

I completely agree when I play people like garen. I'm just happy they made it so BV no longer gives mana. Always hated that.

I typically build a gauntlet on Ekko and it works really good (also mana and stuff).

In theory you're only wasting 400 gold on a mana crystal. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If no one else builds a frozen heart, it's not a bad item to build.

Help any Champion Out and build or purchase in one lump sum:

item 3023 and watch in practice the enemy bots steer away from your lane or make a two bot lane now only one bot sure to the Twin Shadows. Funny for me to watch. As for in real 5v5 games, the damage is fun to watch, as people are not computer programmed as bots are to automatically steer away from item 3023 .

Man, feel like the last pixel in a Pac Man Death. All alone with nothing but the last wallop sound, audio performing my death. Also, as if there are no more winds in my sails. Maybe a tornado huh, Janna ?

Why must easy peasy boots item 3284 be the answer to the item 3023 slows?

Think Riot League of Legends needs to create an item where the Strengths and weaknesses of the Champion could be amplified, grouped up in energy, and then upon casting in design with the item reverse the skills of opposition back onto the Champion enemy.

In other words Elise Evelynn Cassiopeia Zyra ; they can all be entwined inside of their own claims to think their vines, snakes, and spiders, and more are awesome. Because they are not always fun to be up against.

Again, thank you for the added insight. I was not expecting there to be more added knowledge from your online video gaming experience. More information beyond my expectations from my last comment post reply, and a surprise. Thank you very much!

Sticks and stones (c) ... come on! Really, want to see the first hand skills and maneuvers Elise Evelynn Cassiopeia Zyra these ladies own; so when the item is created I can then learn how they would avoid being Spider stricken down, or snake acid spitted onto, or held with ever so tightly embraced vines of Love from vine ladyZyra , (quiz hope I am correct).

This item would help me to learn all I think I could need to know when trying to counter their pets, and lovelies. Your version of my suggested reverse the ability item made me laugh.

Thank you again! From: FuryofThornsRedo

When I play Shen, Rek or any other tank that is manaless, and I want something to act as a frozen heart ( For the AS debuff) I build item 3143. The passive is similar, and since it does not use mana, no stats are wasted.

I play none of those champs, and read just one post up where I explained it all very clearly.

changing It would still buff them and they do not need to be buffed, it's the trade-off for playing manaless champs, and honestly rek'sai doesn't need a buff either, she's quite powerful, especially as a tank.

Still, I said nothing about changing the items at all. All I asked is if people feel like they waste part of items to build certain things for passives or specific stats. Not once have I said the items needed buffed, or anything even remotely close.

There shouldn't be any resource-less champions in the game at all. They are just too hard to balance.

A very little bit of triforce gold is spent on mana. I would buy it if you really want it. You see it on people who don't have/need mana sometimes, just not really a Rek'Sai special (Lich Bane Akali is another example). Frozen heart on the other hand is a lot of gold invested into mana. I woiuld grab randuin's over FH because of the lack of health (kinda personal preference) but I can see how it hurts to be limited

Build the items. If you think it's worth, buy it. Frozen heart is incredibly cheap for its stats, even with the 400 mana wasted.

As others have said, it's a fairly small tradeoff for being resourceless. I'd love 20% cdr and greivous wounds for Vlad but the mana regen of morrelonomicon goes to waste.

Just consider the gold efficiency, build path, and the value of the passive. If you have to start the build with a useless item like mana regen or mana crystals, consider it carefully. However if you can subtract the cost of the unused item (ex: mana crystal being 400g), and the item is still more than 100% gold efficient or has a passive you value as being worth the wasted gold, then build the item. In fact I think Frozen Heart may be one of the most common item built on manaless champions that wastes a part of the item's stats, simply because of the passive and huge armor bonus.
