47% winrate is high.. unless he is only played by mains which is probably the case.
But then again there are champs with lower winrates and im sure they are only played by mains.
you do realize the low win rate is due to his insanely high learning curve and high skill cap. not everyone can pick up azir and do well. he takes alot of practice

Eeeeh... I disagree. If you can play Orianna you can pretty much play Azir. He is not as hard as people make him out to be. If you want to shuffle 24/7 sure, he needs some practice, but there are other playstyles that mostly ignore the gimmick his shuffle is.
that's what I always say... and even then the shuriman shuffle isn't even as hard as peoples make it out to be. If you can hold q, press e, let go of q, then press r you can do it. With most ranges on champions you don't even need to do a max range dash. Hell ganking lanes you don't need to be able to do max range dashes. The dash becomes even easier to do when you place w over larger terrain cause it gives you a bigger window to do it. People don't seem to realize the reason he is hard is because his dmg is insufficient against other dps champs earlier in the game and he cant out trade bursty ones at all. This means your opponent needs to be playing poorly in almost all cases for you to win lane.

idk about that. ori has a pretty high skill cap but her learning curve is no where near azirs also if you are playing azir in a playstyle where you are not taking advantage of ur shuffle mechanic you are pretty much playing him wrong as its a key factor in hitting a good ult

NO for crying out loud. His shuffle is (a gimmick that needs to be removed to make him balanceable but that's besides the point) a style to engage, which is ONE of his playstyles. You can also play him as a high DPS emperor that uses "Emperor's Divide" to peel for himself or a teammate.
Anybody that says that only one of his playstyles (aka the shuffle playstyle) is the right playstyle for him needs to be deliberately ignored. Those people have no right talking about Azirs state if they can't include all of his playstyles into their considerations.
Yes, this sounds like hypocrisy but it isn't. I know that people like his shuffle playstyle and I'm taking this into consideration, I'm just saying that removing his shuffle by giving him a different E 'Shifting Sands' would be the quickest way to finally fix his balance problem.
I mean... I have mastery 5 on him so I mostly know how he works... his problem is his laning phase and the nerf to his Q range. He can no longer poke at his lane opponent without getting punished pretty hard. And Shuriman God is right, he's not as hard as people make him out to be...
Low win rate =/= weak champion
It might be due to the champion being hard to master, hard to play, countered by the most popular champions now, high pick rate etc.
You're right, but his pick rate is not high... I think his problem is that he can't lane against other ranged matchups due to his q range nerf.
Well, technically yes, but he is also hard to master and I have seen lot of Azir players who did great even in current meta. I would not mind if Rito buff him a little but I don't think it is really necessary.
Ok then Akali needs another rework :D
Azir is not mechanically difficult, if you can use skill shots and auto attack stuff then you can properly use Azirs damage. He has several combos involving his ult meaning the hard part is something you only need to do every 1-2 minutes depending on if its early in the game or later. Even then you don't actually use his hard combos every time, sometimes just using the ult is whats called for in a given situation.
As far as the hard part goes well if you can hold q, press e, then let go of q... you can do all his combos with consistency. The only exception to this is preforming the revenant shuffle(where azir pulls an enemy to his allies and ends up where his ult will) because the tolerance for when to press the ult is so tight and failing in the situation you would use it for would likely result in imminent death. However note this is his absolute hardest combo and doesn't really need to be done at all to be successful with azir.
Azirs biggest issue is his soldiers range. If the enemy isn't where soldier are then you cannot fight them, a strong contributor to why his early game is so bad vs mobile aggressive champions(which doesn't get that much better as the game progresses). Yeah sure he can run pretty far with his massive dash but that by no means is a sign of being adequate, this game makes it so you must return quickly if you wish to succeed. This real exception for azir pre late game to solve this is if his teammate posses cc adequate to hold them their long enough for him to kill. Even the his soldier dmg is so meh until you have some points in W and Nashors tooth. This is made so much worse if he must face champions like Zed where its in his best interest to buy a zonyas only making him relatively useless longer.
In Azirs late game he is very fun but this comes at a huge cost to a very tedious early game of boredom for 20-25 minutes before you can even begin to make significant impacts. They nerfed Azir mostly over and over but at which point have they ever improved his early game through any of it. Maybe at one time his late game dominance truly made up for it and getting him fed was more then worth for his team. However now after all that they also have made games shorter and continue to ad higher mobility champions that shit on Azir until he can get his Q skilled up and 40% cdr. Even then its pretty one sided when so many champs can jump on and burst him making his high dps pointless, giving every reason you buy banshees and zonyas so you rarely ever truly get to use Azir for the reason you play him.
In my opinion Azirs passive is to blame for his failings. You have this champion you pick for high dps ap dmg and a play making ult. His passive does help him make plays however most of the time you end up needing to use it just to be able to buy yourself time to scale as you lose towers. It would not hurt or change him that much if his passive was changed to help him reach his first significant power spike a bit earlier.
This could be a gold granting passive like so many others have where doing something well gives him bonus gold to get his items earlier and make up for the plethora of games you need to buy defense first. it could be a passive that decreases q cool down by a percentage each time he autos enemy champions, this way he could do w first to increase early power and then when he later skills q being percent based wont make it be up that much more. Remember his W base dmg scales with levels, however it would be rather nice for him to get the 60% attack speed and 100% dmg to secondary targets sooner. Would not break him as simply leaving soldiers range wont make his Q be up that much sooner when you only get auto'd once or twice. only would really help Azir when enemies commit onto him which is when he struggles early. This would intern make his individual Q pokes less frequent in lane(which I know everyone I play against with him hates) and also if he does that he will be more punishable.
Point being a champ cant be almost perma nerfed for years and not have something added to help them out with what they lose. Some quality of life improvements to azirs early game would be nice. Having is be worth something for the jungler to gank azir lanes pre level 6 would be nice, giving him a good reason to level w first would achieve this at least when the jungler has good cc. Just have this passive scale based on points placed into W so he cant do Q anyway and poke more often as a result. Then at the very least an Azir player can choose based on the matchup, should I do q or w for poking... as his worst matchups are melee and leveling w would be better for him if not for the detriment to his Q.
Genuinely surprised as to how ignorant people are about Azir's learning curve and skill requirement. (Not you, OP.)
Azir is a champion who I would love to see be strong, but unfortunately when that is the case, he decimates everyone from Gold(?) and onward. He honestly just needs a mini rework.
The problem is, he had one and it exacerbated his problems.
The funny thing is, Riot said they had two approaches to his gameplay update. Either keep the Shurima Shuffle and reduce his ranges and and compensate for the loss of range, or completely remove the Shurima Shuffle and give him a new ultimate. I bet he'd be in a much better spot and wouldn't be totally broken in high elo and competitive if he lost the shuffle and got a new ult.
Play him as a adc yes adc. His range is the same as most he has the highest attack speed in the game period. He can self peel via e and ult. Im trying to make it work
