Oh hey Champion Smite is being abused
Just like i said it was going to be when it first hit PBE and everybody laughed at me

Abused or just used by more people than the jungler?
Used by more people than the junglers, but it's abused because it allows a team to get an early lead by taking Gromp/small golem, and since they smite Gromp it also gives a huge damage advantage early. Then they get Skrimishers and easily win every laning phase fight because of the bonus true damage they deal while taking less of the opponents damage.
It also makes fighting Dragons pathetically easy.

"The meta changes. This is clearly abuse"
Smite and smite buffs were intended for junglers, not for laners to get free advantages just because blue top lane has gromp and purple top lane doesn't. It wasn't intended to take half of dragons hp instantly when it first spawns either. Or to take 5k of Barons hp late game with 5 smites making it so that if you fail to smite you should unistall the game.
Details? Reasoning? Actual information on this topic?
So what you're saying is, new options and strategies are bad?
Do you really think coming to lane at level 2 with a free Thornmail for all types of dmg is healthy?

If you gambled by giving up one of your Summoner Spells to try to net an early advantage? Sure, I would say that's healthy.
Don't forget the 4-5 man team smite. Where dragons, baron, large minions... nothing is safe.
Uh yeah considering the enemy can do the same thing. Besides, if the enemy laner has smite, if I can push him out of lane then I can farm up for free or engage knowing that he doesn't have ignite or TP.
Uh yeah considering the enemy can do the same thing.
Terrible reasoning.
Just make sure you push him out before he hits 750g, because when that happens, he comes back with challenging smite, which will end up doing more damage than ignite because he can use it 2.5 times to your 1 ignite.
I would laugh at the people who bring it to lane but the golem/gromp buff has the potential to do a lot more damage than an ignite in lane....
Your argument is that the poison thorn mail is op early, but it is a short lasting buff that cost the support, I really hope an adc is not dumb enough to get smite, there summoner. Once this buff runs out in lane the other team has the advantage. If you know the sup has this buff then why AA them? Just focus on the adc. There is no way this is broken.
You know Gromp is only located on Purple side bot lane? Where is it located on blue side? That's right top lane, where fights happen more often, so the Blue side top will have an advantage even if both take smite.
Want to bully Nasus? Have fun with his poison everytime you hit him and his natural lifesteal.
Then what? Did he replace tp with smite? Then gg you should be in more team fights, did you wait till the small buff ran out? Boom go in and destroy him. Did he replace flash? Gank gank gank. Your missing the point that taking smite as anyone but the jungler is hurting your team, you lose more xp when you have to go to the Jung, and you are vulnerable to champs with ignite. It's a lose lose for a top laner to have a useless in lane summoner.
So changing up how a game can be played by allowing smite to do more than target just minions and neutral monster is unhealthy for game state?
I fail to understand the reasoning that it's unhealthy because it opens up to new things and really makes some big changes for duels. I also want to note that not only is it decent because fighting for dragon is become a higher priority if you want to keep the enemy team from getting said Dragon buffs. Also fighting dragon is harder since it deals blast damage now instead of one person at a time.
Meta changes and you don't like it? Just don't play then.
It's not really that so much as the new smites are pretty amazing. Skirmisher makes you an amazing duelist (true damage on-hit, vision of target, AND 20% damage reduction against the target) and stalker has a nice click slow.
It's less that you can smite champions and more of the fact said smites are extremely good.

While that's true yes, they are great they are changing the way the game is played and making it not only useful for farming to get the killing blow but I like that it's useable for more than just dealing that damage. These give new incentives to the use of multiple smites on the team making it so you can build around the meta.
Now if the enemy team does this and takes 2 smites and your team takes 1, no one's stopping you from not taking 2, remember this is Season 5, a new season, new changes, new metas. Think about it.
Maybe if they buff dragon so a 5 man smite team can't instantly kill it every spawn and Skrimisher gets some nerfs i will be okay with it.
So if a team's strat is to gain Baron and Dragon constantly by having 5 smites then that is their strat, it's no different than before except for the enhancements you can use. However if every player is doing that then they are going to be missing out on opportunities of pushing or other items as if a 5 man team will use 5 smites and not buy enhancements they aren't utilizing the changes properly. Making it kinda worthless then. Before people made team comps around taking early dragons with one smite and specific champs.
How would you nerf skirmishers? I'd like to hear.
Also Dragon and Baron are much tougher this season, especially dragon if you haven't seen it's damage output.
At level 18 one smite deals 1000 damage. You can almost kill a Dragon with them alone. Also it discourages the enemy team from ever going Baron.
Of course you are giving up something by taking 5 smite right? Well with increased true damage against the person you smited, vision of the target and damage reduction all on 60 sec cd, not really.

Lies, it does not and again no one is stopping your team from taking more than 1 smite. A lot of people actually been dueling it out with taking smite skirmishers top lane now, which is not really becoming that bad of a thing to do. Some people are doing it on supports. But you know it's all about team comp strategies. Having more than 1 now is not bad because the other person who has smite now can utilize even the jungle buffs from using a smite on the large minions. Jungler smites Raptors and gets the ward clearing buff while your top laner smites Wolves and gets the roaming spirit.
Smite last season at level 18 dealt 1000 true damage to minions/neutral monsters and that didn't change this season, just enhancements to using smite as something else other than that clearing of minions/monsters.
Skirmishers: 6 second target, deals 18-69 on hit true damage, 20% damage reduction from target, and true vision.
Poachers: smite and kill large monster in enemy jungle, smite cd is halved, gain +20 gold, 175% move speed boost decaying over two seconds.
Trailblazer: Smite CD reduced by 15 seconds. Deals half damage to all minions/monsters near targeted minion/monster and stuns for 1.5 seconds. Casting smite on monster restores 15% health and mana.
Stalkers: Can be cast on enemy champions dealing 28-164 true damage, and reducing move speed by 50% for 2 seconds.
Currently the best one to take even in lane probably is Skirmishers for dueling purposes which isn't really bad for like Top lane melee champions or mid lane melee champions.
It's a whole new world right now.
So far the only one that pops out as needing nerfs is Skirmisher's Sabre. It's just way too good:
True Damage on hit Vision of Target 20% damage reduction vs whoever you smited
Combine with Devourer and it gets ridiculous.
But you give up ignite or teleport or heal, which are going to be a lot better in fights later than having 5 people with smite
Smite is way better than Ignite, it gives vision and reduces enemy damage while doing instant true damage(granted not even close to it but can still hurt). Heal and Teleport though are valuable sacrifices though.
What you seem to forget is that you have to dumb 750 gold into an item that effectively gives you that smite. Before that even with gromp poison your opponent has the advantage in an all in due to the extra exhaust or ignite and even after you get it ignite gives reduced healing which is very good against some opponents and exhaust reduces damage, attack speed and movespeed. Sure you have it up more often but it is worse, you have to spend 750 gold to even get a benefit, you are depriving your jungler from a buff (only the first smiter gets the buff) and you are forced to build a suboptimal item which is cost efficient if you discount the 750 gold for the smite but if you don't then that item is not very cost efficient and certainly not slot efficient. Have fun though.
you get more than 750 gold on a first recall lol.
also you can always kill the camp so jungler doesn't starve.
If you kill the camp you take a good deal of damage (assuming it is grump) and arrive to lane late so you end up behind on xp and gold (even more so if your opponent pushes immediately).
Also even if you return with 10k gold you are still 750 gold down on your opponent and a summoner for the entire time you are laning trying to get that gold.
In simpler terms let us say that you return with about 1500 gold (this is quite normal as many champs have their first powerspike around there) then your opponent buys
against your
. I can guarantee that he has the advantage in small trades just by having more health even with slightly less armor. In an offensive ad lane this instead
against
or in an offensive ap lane this is
against
again it should be easy to see who has the advantage. This becomes even worse if your opponent can disengage when you smite him since your smite gives no cc.
