Why does Jhin have 330 base move speed while most other ADC's have 325?

Blakiepug··48 votes·4,741 views

I thought Jhin's weakness was supposed to be his immobility. So why does he have more base move speed than Ashe Caitlyn Corki Ezreal Jinx Kalista Kindred KogMaw MissFortune Tristana ? The other ADC's that also have 330 or that outclass him are Draven Graves Lucian Quinn Sivir Twitch Varus Vayne who all use their mobility to get in and out of a fight.

EDIT: Poor Mordekaiser also has 325 move speed. :(

Ashe slows people down. Corki, Cait, EZ, Kali, Kind, and Trist have mobility spells.

So Kog and Jinx are the only real slow imboile ADs but they are hyper carries.

What does being a hyper carry have to do with it? Vayne, Sivir, and Twitch are all hyper carries and they have more than 325 move speed.

Also, both Jinx and Jhin get mobility from their passive. Jhin gets access to his more frequently. And Jhin can slow people too with his traps similar to Ashe.

Not as Frequent as Ashe (slow).

I really don't considered those 3 as much of hyper carries as Jinx or Kog. Idk though I don't come up with there stats.

True, but he does get to hold multiple charges for his slow and has a stun in addition. The two champs seem really similar to me in terms of kit capabilities which is why I decided to ask about the move speed. I'm genuinely curious as to how this things are decided. At first I thought maybe it was because he was a newer champion and 330 was the new baseline for move speed but then I saw that both Kindred and Kalista have 325 move speed still so I'm not really sure.

Idk, Ashe can perma slow, its more readily available then Jhins, as he has to lay them like traps and hope you walk over them.

They both do have stuns but Jhins is more conditional.

Jhin has slow AS, slow reload. Ashe has crazy AS (late game), and hits multi pal targets.

The true difference though is one is a mid game champ (Jihn) where as the other is a late game Champ (Ashe). Both utility oriented. Which is why before Leth was buffed on 7.3 we saw Ashe and Varus as the top two ADCs because they can kill tanks late game and have utility. Jhin was the 3rd AD but he wasn't nearly as strong as the former two.

Jhin has been the #1 ADC for almost a year now

MF and Varus are below him and have always been

Looknook3 votes

He may have been the most played but he was never the best ADC.

THE RlVER KlNG7 votes

MF and Varus can do things that Jhin cannot but he is overloaded and way too much of a generalist to pass up - he is an early game bully with a strong midgame and a godly late. Pick/ban in pro play and has shoved out a lot of hypercarry picks he can safely assassinate from huge range lategame.

His pick rate has gone down but only because his skin hype has too and people are rushing to abuse the new BotRK and Warlord's, which is good on Vayne/Jinx/Caitlyn etc.

MrHaZeYo3 votes

Varus and Ashe were the best ADs because of there utility and late game presence, then when Leth was buffed Jhin came back into the mix and MF started seeing play as a ADC instead of only support.

I'm not saying Jhin was never not good, but he wasn't as good as Ashe and Varus simply because he had to build more of the Crit build. The start of this season it was the "ADC in 2017 lul" meme and Ashe/Varus were useful basically due to the utility they had.

Also Varus has been Pick/Ban in Pro for the entirety of this split.

Because Kalista and Kindred both have a spammable mobility spell in their kit. Kalista can dash every time she auto attacks. Kindred has a dash with really short CD as long as you are in the wolf zone.

Their slow base movement speed is to compensate their spammable mobility. Just like Talon has low base MS because of his spammable wall jump.

He had 325 on release. He got a 5 MS buff when Swiftness boots got nerfed multiple times back in S6.

Ashe slows people down.

?? jhin has a 2500 range root as well as being able to slow people

MissingKayo2 votes

Only if they're dumb enough to get hit by such a thin and broadcasted skillshot blockable by literally any other champion.

And the slow is only if they manage to step on one of his traps.

Ashe slows on every auto and ability.

resumed6 votes

im pretty sure if it was as hard to hit as you're making it out to be then jhin wouldn't be nearly as good as he is

fuffychan17 votes

Because he lacks invisible slowing tra-

Because he lacks a speed boost from auto at-

Because he lacks CC-

Because hes short ran-

Alright I cant figure it out either.

Lol, they should make that a thing where all of Jhin's base stats end in 4 just to tie in with the character.

I mean, is 5 more MS that bad?

It's unnecessary. Katarina just recently had her base magic resist stat lowered because it was higher than other mid laners. In Kat's case, this higher magic resist flew directly in the face of her intended weakness. She's supposed to be a high risk, high reward champion going into a fight. With Jhin, his big intended weakness is supposed to be his lack of mobility. He already has a move speed steroid on his passive, so why does he have 5 more move speed than the other immobile marksmen who don't.

Finally someone who says it and does not get immediately downvoted.

Also, all the other long-range ADCs save Twitch and Varus have 325 base MS. And Twitch's higher base can be explained by him only being able to really do stuff when auto-attacking people, unlike Cait, Ashe or Jinx which have longer-ranged immediate damage skillshots, and only his ult giving him the super long range.

because his passive's passive's passives' passives movement speed increase isnt enough

PaladinNO4 votes

passive's passive's passives' passives

I just read "passive" 4 times.

Upvoted.

resumed4 votes

does that mean you wouldnt upvote if i said the actual number of passives he has which is six

its just the third passive of his passive, making it the passive's passives pas'sive's passive

PaladinNO4 votes

He should only have 320 MS - because 4.

TyrekGoldenspear4 votes

Agreed. He should have 324 movespeed.

Just playing devil's advocate just to see what riot may have been thinking

Ashe Could become a terrifying kite monster Caitlyn Good point Corki Has a dash on his W (although I love how **flying ** champs ie. Kayle have the slowest movespeed...) Ezreal Has E blink and blink > dash in champ power Jinx Has ramping speed on kills/assists/structures destoryed Kalista Hops around, doesn't really need to walk in combat Kindred Good point KogMaw Good point MissFortune Good point Tristana Has E hop although if you ask me movespeed is the least of her worries.

Cos Jhin has a 4-shot limit. This alone is a HEAVY handicap in itself because to deal dmg while he reloads, he has to stand still for a while. Also by that logic, Lee and Yi shouldn't have the base MS they have.

You should read the Riot article they posted about a month ago in Nexus discussing the new champions released in 2016. In it they specifically discuss how Jhin's intended weaknesses of the 4-shot limit and his fixed auto-speed don't actually handicap him due to his ability to use spells while reloading and therefore always putting out a constant stream of damage. Why should Lee and Yi have lower move speed? Yi is all about going head first into a fight and Lee Sin focuses on re-positioning and getting into a fight to knock someone out of position with his ult. Both Lee and Yi need a higher move speed to go into a fight. Jhin doesn't, he's supposed to help from the sidelines with autos or from afar with his huge range.

Stars Shaper2 votes

Varus and mobility in the same sentence.

There is a glitch in the Matrix.

Edit:

Jhin is far less mobile of the listed ADC that have less run speed. Ashe has a perma slow, Kog also has a long range AoE slow, MF/Jinx hav runspeed passive and all the others have jumps.
