With how different his new base model is, I think it would be a good idea to give Galio a traditional skin. I know one has not been made in a long time, but this visual rework is such a departure from the original character model that I think a traditional skin would be warranted. This would appease both those who like old Galio's design and those who like new Galio's design. :)
TBH, they're probably going to make a chroma skin set for his base skin that will include the original color scheme for him, rather than make a Traditional Skin. If they do anything about it at all, that is.
If they didn't give a traditional skin for Fiora, Sion and Taric, I doubt they'll start again with Galio.
or even better...name that new statue hero thingy Demaclion and have it be a completly new hero and than think again of how to preservere the actual Galio in a modernized design.
I just want a banner for having Gatekeeper Pre-Update. Playing him since season 3, one of my most played champs. Would love to have a traditional skin to hold on to those memories, but if not I would love to have loading screen embellishment.
They wont... but if I just got his old vo and a model a little more like the old.... I'd be less sad. But that wont happen.

Unlike say Trundle who went from swamp to the snowy mountains, Sejuani who went from pig-riding-bikini-girl to boar-riding-armoured-lady, and Karma who went from Yin-Yang (Tao) to Hindu or Buddhist, Galio is still a gargoyle just with a different colour scheme and a bit of a face-lift.
So idk, but I don't think a Traditional skin would be that likely since his theme isn't really changed as drastically as the others comparatvely.
Yeah, I like his new theme of a shining, heroic gold and marble statue.
It would be cool to see a worn down, old grimey statue for one of his skins.
Honestly though, he's getting such a massive VU to himself and his skins, that he prom isn't going to get a skin for a long time. They are prob hoping that the new and improved Gatekeeper Galio skin will hold people over.

RIot stopped doing traditional skins and if completely changing the champ model so it's nearly unrecognizable warranted a traditional skin yorick would have gotten one

Consider also that traditional skins are a hit during the first few months but then no one bats an eye at them
