Current Zyra Vs. Pre MYMU Zyra (Why I think she was gutted.)

First off I will say. Zyra has always been one of my mains next to Syndra. I used to always play Zyra mid, but have slowly pulled away from doing that and the champion itself, EVEN, in bot lane. I feel like Zyra was a fine Champion pre-MYMU and I think what encouraged Riot to completely change (gutt her) was the Zyra Main outcry for her to receive a new passive. That was the mark of her inevitable demise in the mid lane.

I wanna go into some details as to why i think this. The first and I think most significant change was the removal of Deadly Bloom in favor of Deadly Spines. A number of things happen here when Zyra gained this new ability. First off she lost a significant portion of her base damage and scaling on the ability. From this: 70/ 105/ 140/ 175/ 210 (+65% AP) to 60/ 90/ 120/150 180 (+55% AP). Riots logic with this was that her plants were going to become more impactful so the damage loss was acceptable. Later this was buffed to 60/ 95/130/165/200 (+60% AP) still lower than what it was pre MYMU (and for reference at that time Zyra was considered “ok” in mid and struggled). 2nd off the ability lost a significant amount of range in favor of a wider cast (THIS HUGELY gutted Zyra mid as she was already just barely at a range that was both dangerous for her and allowed her to fight her opponent.)

On paper these nerfs seemed fine because of Riots overall goal for Zyra which was to give her access to more plants that felt more impactful. Here is the problem that arose however. Zyra has had her plants significantly nerfed over the years preceding her update. HER plants are basically wet noodles. They die near instantly and barely do as much damage as they used to, Hell even using your ultimate on them isn't enough to keep them alive. What ended up happening is Zyra’s Q was nerfed significantly for power elsewhere but then that power was stripped away slowly. She actually ended up with weaker plants then she had at the time. I and I know many others believed that having LESS plants that LIVED longer and did MORE damage were better than having a crap ton of plants that die instantly. I ALSO think that alot of Zyra mid players prefer to have the further range on Q and more impactful damage on Q then what this ability has become.

I think its time Riot realizes that Zyra’s MYMU was a failure and did not hit the mark, and that she should be reverted back to what she was pre-MYMU like they have done to all the MAGES that were involved with that catastrophe of a Mage update. Please make Zyra great again. I’ll even take back the old passive if I have to. Just give Zyra her old Q back and give us back less plants that actually LIVE longer and do more damage.

She is a shell of her former self in Mid lane and as is is literally nothing but a BOT Lane, laning phase nuisance that becomes pretty irrelevant after laning phase ends and her Mid lane is basically non-existent.
