Once your team figures out they also have abilities that do damage, that's when you can start killing her.

yes and no. a good riven wins the early game. she will be able to kite you around like crazy. youre gonna outscale her eventually. but lategame shes more threatening to your team then youre to her team.

one of the problems with facing riven as garen is, that a good riven will e out of range during your q animation, putting her out of range for your spin while absorbing the damage and putting the q on cooldown.

Riven has no sustain, and the lowest health regen in the entire game. what does good against someone with no sustain? poke. she's more bursty, just let that sink in and think about it and make your decisions.

I've always found Renekton was a good counter to Riven, you out sustain her and are almost as mobile as she is where it counts.

I've found Irelia to be good against her. You max stun and never engage on her with her Q up, if she tries to trade with you when you cs with her Q you E-aa-back off until her Q goes on cd or your stun is back up. Never fight her without an escape plan when her ult is up (at least lvl 6-11), she will outdamage you in all-in fight.

My best advice, play a farm-tank top. Maokai/Cho'gath, Gnar is also decent if you're great with your spacing. Irelia is also a great top.

You don't win in a fight where you try to all in her. Best way to beat her, farm lane. Wait for the jungler. if the jungler never comes and she randomly goes missing, shove lane. She's probably roaming, as long as you have good ward coverage a denied Riven is a bad Riven.

If you want a top laner irelia does well against her. IF (big IF) she engages Irelia, Irelia's E now stuns. YAY. If she shields in, she STILL gets stunned so if you wanna wait out the shield then DIVE her squishy ass then great. Irelia does good in prolonged duels while riven does poke burst then all in for the kill. Irelia will heal with her w (if activated even better in duels) and ult will mean you will sustain WHILE csing the minions/riven herself. Q to get away from a gank if riven gets help or q to a low minion if you want to dive her yourself.
