Why does Poppy get 30% bonus resists when she's below 40% health

She gets stronger when you're beating her. Like what. And why does it have to be something as ridiculous as 30%?

The better question is "Why is this thread being downvoted when its asking a legitimate question that should be answered by Riot?"

Because it's in the spirit of her character to not give up, especially when the odds are against her.

It's the same reason why Yasuo's double crit symbolizes his mastery of swordsmanship.

Just because it's in the spirit of her character to not give up, it doesn't mean she should be unkillable for it. I think there are much better and more balanced ways than giving her 30% bonus resists for losing a fight. Getting her to 40% health to begin with is a hard thing to do, but once you get there she becomes even harder to kill which is really frustrating to play against.

Yasuo's crit passive is balanced and serves as a good balance lever for his kit. I feel like Poppy just has it in there for the memes. At least make the bonus resists an active or something. Letting her have it at all times makes it really frustrating to kill her and that's not even considering the rest of her kit. Even with the armor pen items she still steamrolls you with her high damage and ridiculous tankiness.

That passive is just turns her into a stat stick which is something that is not fun to play against. There are much better ways to do this than just giving her free stats that you can't play around.

Welcome to tanks being hard to kill.

This is effectively her tank steroid.

If you think about it, Poppy and Leona are effectively the same thing right now.

Just Poppy is at least twice as good in every regard. There's not even a point of using Leona support because Poppy does everything that she does, just better.

You could halve that number to 7/15%, rather than 15/30% and she'd STILL be one of the best tops/supports in the game, and STILL be one of the best tanks/peelers in the game.

Hmm...well sounds like Leona is a candidate for the vanguard update.

Or Leona has both single target lock down, longer ranged engage, and an AoE slow/stun that is a lot easier to aim than a skill shot and doesn't have a windup that allows it to be canceled.

Leona functions fine as a champion and isn't outdated.

Poppy is the issue, not Leona. Just about every aspect of Poppy, from CC, to tankiness, and even damage, needs to be gutted atm.

Poppy doesn't have to aim lol. She literally taps R in melee in 99% of cases.

Poppy has MORE lockdown than Leona in most cases because her Q comes with such a debilitating slow and W prevents a large majority of engages/escapes in the game.

If Poppy were toned down, Leona would still fill a niche in the support role.

Poppy has too much going for her in just about every aspect a champion is capable of.

gutted. toned down.

Pick one.

If everything were toned down, as it all needs to be, the scope of the nerfs overall would be considered 'gutted' to most champions.

"Gutted" in most cases implies a removal of a lot of power, not making something non-functional.

There's a difference between being hard to kill and almost immortal. Braum DrMundo Leona Malphite Maokai etc. are all decently hard to kill, but none of them have persistent tankiness outside of Malphite who has to put points into an ability and only works for one resist.

Poppy gets her resists at all times and doubles at low health which makes her extremely hard to kill throughout the whole duration of a fight. All tanks should have a moment where they are really hard to kill, but become easier to kill during their cooldowns. Poppy gets to be unkillable at all times and there's nothing you can do about it which isn't fair in the slightest. Not to mention her kit is extremely frustrating to play against to begin with.

Do you remember her old passive? Any damage that would reduce her HP by more than 10% of the current HP was reduced by 50%. She was really, really hard to kill.

Unless you had true damage or DoT abilities.

Darius gave absolutely zero fucks about Poppy's old passive and it was hilarious.

I knew True Damage skipped armor and mr, but I didn't know it was also immune to other damage reductions. Very interesting!

Just because Old Poppy had a broken kit doesn't mean her current kit should be allowed to be broken.
