So malz's win rate is pretty extreme in 2 positions right now

It's really interesting. After patch 7.11, malz's win rate according to both champion.gg and op.gg raises to extremely high level in mid lane. I'm not so surprised about it since malz is becoming more and more similar to its old form, which also had a high win rate at the time. Meanwhile this patch does not help malz's win rate on support role though, the win rate now is insanely low as last on both sites. Which is really interesting and confusing. I almost never see a champion have so extreme win rate between 2 positions. Especially if you have performed so much better in mid lane, it's assumed to be the patch buffed you. Therefore you should have a better performance in another role. So what's causing this?

the changes to malz w. In support, they have less hp (1 hit usually kills them) and it doesn't hold charges anymore, rather, it stacks on spells cast. This means that a mid Malz combo can be unaffected and even more powerful with the damage buffs, but the support play is left lackluster as every enemy support can make your w useless and so you're playing with being able to land q and your space aids.

Malz was never supposed to be played as support anyhow, it just kind of happened after his rework... like how malz jg even worked for a while

was riot expecting malz mid to be balanced? they reverted the damage nerfs and put damage back on his ult but allowed him to keep the spellshield passive for some reason

the goal was to kill the support malz, thank fucking god

No, his winrate wouldn't rise as support because he's still useless in what made him a great support. He needs to build AP now and powerfarm by shoving (which the new W lets him do) and get items for more damage on his ult.

That was the goal tho...?

Probably overturned, but it's nice to see him back where he belongs shutting down assassin mids.
